      Take the Coast Starlight down for a quick trip! 😁 We have a ton of brand new rail either freshly upgraded or in progress. BART, Caltrain, Muni, and Amtrak are all getting new rolling stock. It's a sight to behold, especially compared to the rest of the country!

    California is leading the way in improving public transportation in this country.

    • @TohaBgood2
      @TohaBgood2 Год назад +4

      As crazy as this sounds, yes, kind of. We went from the crappiest rail network to the best in the country of any individual state in just 30 years. (The Northeast still has us beat if you take all those states as a single cluster.)
      Between BART getting new Alstom trains, Caltrain getting these Stadlers, Muni getting Siemens S200s, and the San Joaquins getting new Siemens Charger+Venture combos, yeah, we kind of have the most modern rail in the country. Hopefully the rest of the states are taking notes.

      @@TohaBgood2 NJ kinda beats out cali? Just my opinion

    • @TohaBgood2
      @TohaBgood2 Год назад +4

      @@Ethan-vj5mt I dunno, obviously I'm biased 😁But NJ just doesn't seem to invest nearly as much in transit. It's pretty much just using what is already there and making some incremental improvements.
      California is building the most expensive infrastructure project in US history and it's an electric train! And that's just one project. 30 years ago we had basically nothing. Now we have three of the top 5 intercity rail lines in the country. There's an order of magnitude difference in terms of the scale and speed of investment here, even if we adjust for economy size.
      But I assure you that we would love some competition! It's pathetic how little we invest in efficient modes of transit in this country. We need to do better.

    • @TheRailwayDrone
      @TheRailwayDrone Год назад

      @@Ethan-vj5mt Nah, NJ does not beat Cali. NJ has had a legacy transportation network for decades but has rarely added new services, new train service extensions, etc, and they're definitely not building a high speed railway. LA is expanding their light rail network, Caltrain is electrifying their railway, and of course, there's the CAHSR project.

    • @realadrieno

      i’m convinced that caltrain is the only railroad in america that is adding electrification; all the other electrified systems had electrifications built in to their first designs

    Operators in the Northeast should be looking at this style of Double Decker trains due to it's dual Door Setting which would require an announcement to announce the high-level doors will be used while Low Level doors will open at selected stops. You are looking at njtransit Morris & Essex lines where electric Territory low level platforms are common with selected Newark Division electric lines having Low level platforms where SDO can be used

    • @banksrail
      @banksrail Год назад +18

      I think a more practical decision long term would be using that money for a program to upgrade the rest of their stations to high level platforms for level boarding and better ADA Accessibility. Eventually phasing out the dual level doors for more seating capacity.

    • @ccentralchannel4492
      @ccentralchannel4492 Год назад

      I believe the MTBA is looking for electrification and new double decker trains. So it’s going to continue being wonderful for Stadler.

      @@banksrail Agreed.

    • @TohaBgood2
      @TohaBgood2 Год назад +3

      @@banksrail This is Caltrain's plan. They couldn't find the money to upgrade the entire system to level-boarding and they had to go for this dual door design. It's unfortunate, but they're making the best of the resources they have.

    • @banksrail
      @banksrail Год назад +1

      @@TohaBgood2 Well Caltrain is understandable. It would be financially tedious to both electrify and raise platforms for level boarding. But for NJT, a railroad with no current plans for future electrification, I think it’s bout time they start making all platforms high level.

    Is it the American "safety" requirements that make these trains look already outdated with those big gaps in between the cars? The rest of the world have them together making it seem just one body and probably more energy efficient too. We meanwhile have probably the worst record in train safety in the world.
