To be honest, I'm going to play Shenmue 3 with the mindset of it being the final game, even though it will end on a cliff hanger. I've done that before with cancelled TV shows which I knew ended on a cliff hanger before I finished watching them, and that made me appreciate it more while it lasted. The main reason I wanted Shenmue 3 for 14 years is because I was expecting it to come out. Shenmue 2 literally ended with the words "The story will continue", and the 14 year wait for Shenmue 3 to be officially announced permanently broke a part of me deep inside. Even though I want to know how the whole story ends, I'm going to use Shenmue 3 as a way to finally get closure on a 16 year wait for the story to continue. Also, Yu Suzuki isn't getting any younger, and part of me worries he might pass away before the intended final game in the series gets made and released.
Love your Shenmue content man! Great discussion about the chapters and hopefully we do not have to wait until we are at deaths door for number 4! Would be great if you could come on our Shenmue podcast for an episode! Keep up the great work man.

Great video quality and production, keep up the good work! I am hoping than Shenmue 3 generates enough revenue and interest to justify production for Shenmue 4 shortly after. I am quite confident that Shenmue 4 will finish the Shenmue saga without stretching to a 5th or 6th title.

You got it wrong mate! Shenmue is written in novel formats. Yu has stated the combination of what he wrote can be combined into a game chapter instead of making a chapter per game format. We should worry less and let him flow creatively, though yours is as valid a concern as any. Thanks for sharing!

So why do you say at the end "I just hope that we dont have to go trough another" be more optimistic man, you can make it ^^ even if Shenmue 4 will not come out, to be realtistic, believe i am one of the raretest people that really loves shenmue from the botton of the heart and have really straight forward thoughts about it and hope you give also Yu Suzuki a rest and let the pace and things come by it own also, one cant force everything!
I loved this video, you raise issues that concern me every day since the announcement. I love this game with my heart and soul, and it will be terrible if we're blown into another 14 year wait. The way I see it, Yu Suzuki wants 10 million to make it the true Shenmue experience. If Sony is willing to spend so much on marketing on a failed game, they should team with sega and chip the other 3 million together. Marketing costs so much more... And you can't market a sequel to a crowd of gamers that had no idea shenmue even existed in the first place. A strict plan needs to be put in place, personally, I understand why Yu Suzuki would feel he doesn't want his fans to feel the game is rushed, but this game is a BIG risk. The first 2 games HAVE to be released or ported in some way, as much as I loved the DVD with the xbox version, it's a terrible way to introduce new fans to the saga. No one, especially today's gamers, want to watch a 90 minute intro to a game they have no clue about. I'm genuinely worried we will never see the end.... I would rather Shenmue 3 end the story, make the game as long as possible and if that means taking an extra year or two, then fine.

I would be happy to wait another 2 years if it meant being able to finish the story and release it as one game. Giving yu his due, he hasn't given up, but sometimes you've got to be realistic, and in all honestly, as much as it pains me to say it, I don't think shenmue 3 will sell very well, and when that happens, sonys eyebrows are gonna raise and the future of shenmue will once again be uncertain...
shenmue 3 is chapter 5 1/2 - 6 there are 11 chapter i dont think shenmue 4 with be 7-11 most likely 7-9 so shenmue 5 will be the last one But honstly if what i said is true. we might never see the end of shenmue. as much as i love shenmue . unless shenmue sold over 1 millions copy i dont see how Sony will keep supporting it.

I think it's not worth worrying about what "chapters" are included where. As long as the story is told, the number of chapters is moot.
