My family originally owned the building that is Cardow. My grandparents built it when they settled with other founding families and provided the new island with foodstuffs, cloth, etc.
Wonderful driving tour.Awesome footage and the music rocked! Very car centric place, but fortunately hardly any traffic control signals to waste time waiting at. Am sure the traffic there can get pretty bad though. No cycling lanes looks like. Love those colonial buildings so beautifully rehabbed. Of course the harbor is spectacular. Have been there. I was blown away by the beauty of the place. I know it’s expensive there not unlike other top tier island destinations-probably pretty hard on the locals. One of the best videos on the USVI I’ve seen. The US was very wise to claim those islands!
Enjoyed the visual memories of my home island. It’s been about 30 years since I left. Going back next week. Was nice to get a preview of the many changes. Btw, you mentioned Jimmy Cliff doing a free concert in 1980 at the Emancipation Gardens park. He stayed next door to me when he was there for that concert. Living on a hillside in town we could hear the performance. I didn’t get to meet him but we briefly glimpsed him as he occupied the guest house. Thanks for posting the video.
Been wanting to visit STT but not on a cruise but land trip. Thank you sooooo much for this relaxing tour...and the music..here jamming in my bedroom wishing I was there..
Lived near the fire station (6:09) ). that's Barbel Plaza across the street. At 5:36 you went up Pollyberg Hill. Lived at the bottom. thanks for the memories!
Hassel Island should have been joined to St Thomas still. I remember the Windward Passage hotel. Irma really took away a lot of the trees and the shade. I have great memories of Christmas Eve days on Main Street.
Interested in visiting St. Thomas in November..seen a lot of comments saying taxis are very expensive. Is it easy to drive on the island? Reference coming from Boston Massachusetts. Thank you
@@14Caribbeangal hi, yes the driving is easy enough. The only consideration should be given to your ability to drive on the left side of the road and hilly terrains.
Just discovered the video. It appears that the vehicles are set up with left hand drive like the US but they drive on the left side of the road like the Brits. That would be exciting...
Realy was starting to miss home being on this ride help me relive parts of my child hood was hoping you'd have driven a lil further so I could catch a glimpse of my family house QvQ
@@bandit4true For one, rentals/homes are extremely high, same for cost of living. Groceries, clothing, et al, are expensive due to the fact that most are shipped from the States. While growing up there, locals held onto their land. Now some are selling and moving stateside especially since good paying jobs can be scarce (in the V.i), unless you work in a hotel, or either for the Federal, or V.I. Government.
@@lifeskater9899 you have some good points but can't that be said for everywhere in the mainland U.S as well. Especially in the large metro areas such as Miami, Atlanta and Houston. Houses that use to sell for little over 100 thousands are now selling for 1 million and higher. I feel very sorry for young people that are just starting out.
Great Job ,of illustrating the different areas and giving brief history behind it. Well Done !
Thank you ☺️

Thanks Ash! We definitely wanted people to see more of the island 🥰
Wow we left in 88 after Hugo but my best childhood memmories are in St Thomas!! Lived in Bovoni and Old Tutu, I have to go back!!

Beautiful Scenery 💕 My husbandsaid it felt like she was on a Field Trip to Virgin Islands😂
Hahaha that’s the spirit 😆 tell him thanks for joining the field trip
Many of the old, boarded-up abandoned buildings you see were built during the Danish era-over 100 years ago.
Realy was starting to miss home being on this ride help me relive parts of my child hood was hoping you'd have driven a lil further so I could catch a glimpse of my family house QvQ
Glad you enjoyed it! We have another video coming, I hope that captures your family home :-) I'm sure the nostalgia will be good for you.
Any cheap inn on d flat??....they all seem to be on a hill 😢😢
There’s Emerald Beach resort close to the airport and Windward Passage hotel. I would say moderately priced
Driver! Drop me off @ 6:40! I home!
Hahaha 😆 one stop driver!!!!!
This is where Karinne Steffans was born
Yup that’s right
There doesn’t seem to be any public transportation. Even the historic center allows cars. How sad. There is almost nobody visibly walking
On the way to the very poor and the very rich. No middle class, knew this was coming for decades. Sad.
How did you come to that conclusion?
