The Camino never fails to surprise: After the lows, these highs are out of this world. Yesterday's stay in the tiny mountain village of Acebo was an unforgettable experience. The hosts were absolute gems, and their impromptu street concert after a delicious home-cooked meal was pure magic.
As I descended the mountain, the scenery was breathtakingly beautiful. Ponferrada's historic old town with its castles was a treat, but a lost t-shirt forced me to detour to a soulless strip mall. Quite the contrast! The walk through small villages was a bit of a grind, but I'm told Cacabelos has something special in store.
The freedom of taking each day as it comes is incredibly liberating. No pressure, just embracing the journey. If a place captivates me, I'll happily ask for a bed and stay. Easy as that! Though after today's 32 km trek in the heat, I might just crash wherever I can find a bed in Cacabelos.
