thank you for taking the time to create and share this. merges the worlds of nostalgic video gameplay, art gallery walk thru, haunted house, a dream / trip and spoken word. the messages in this hit close to home, and i loved how each section had its own “room” that represented it, especially the dreams being locked up and each possible persona never truly fulfilled. man that really hit the endless rows of booze in a long dark corridor when focused on drinking was spot on. the light at the end of the tunnel, so many uses of environment as metaphor some of the signage and words were heavy handed but i appreciated the forwardness instead of candidness. it still didn’t feel distasteful like a lot of “art” that’s just boring nihilism and depression worn as a persona for attention. this felt like the character still cared but didn’t know how to anymore the last part with the longer phrases that had more recovery / hope to them was beautiful. again, heavy handed but i think added what was needed. the throwing of the booze and cigarettes at the end was the perfect symbol of making the choice to let go. i admire you as a creator and as i found this today, hilariously in a gray hoodie with the hood up, feeling down about my journey as an artist. not yet fulfilled, doubtful, feeling older with years going by with less progress. it’s hard to keep going with ambition and hopefulness. this helps give a small push to keep going and keep betting on my own journey at 32 yrs old, this style of art resonates with me and hopefully i could incorporate into my own art and expression. i know no one reads essays like this in the comments, me included. just felt the need to give praise from another struggling artist here in the world that has found something you make to be inspiring
The whole atmosphere is absolutely fantastic! And yes, my music fits very good. Thank you so much for letting me be such a huge part of your project! I'll definitely check out the full release
My man! I remember randomly coming across one of your dev logs couple years ago and was immediately hooked. Subbed and looked forward to your monthly updates. Was sad when I realised you haven’t uploaded in a while and thought it end up as another solo dev dnf project. All of sudden it’s released! Pulled through with this one man, can’t wait to give it a go!
No, dude. You can work on multiple projects without scrapping the other one. I guess it's just cheaper to use existing assets from the main project for your other project. Which kind of line up with the premise of this side project?
Hey thanks, PN will get made eventually but sadly it was killing my creative spirit for so long being the only thing I would work on, slowly but hopefully oneday it will be released.
@AaronMYoung I get that, yeah. I've been working on my own game for the past 6 months, and we are only 2 devs, so it's really hard sometimes to keep going. I'm glad to see you're still working on it though! It's a big project for (what I assume to be) a single dev and it's really impressive what you've been able to do so far!
Hey man this is some impressive stuff! Do you mind telling me about your process of disabling texture filtering? Do you manually set it to Nearest for every texture file or is there some trick I don't know about that automatically disables filtering for every texture that belongs to certain texture groups?
I love the atmosphere and vibes, visually it's a treat, but the voice is standing out weirdly. Like I'm constantly being reminded of poor voice acting with poor mic.
The graphics looks good. It looks like RE PSOne graphics (specially the fog and snow). Too bad there is no mini map and the voice over looks like AI generated. I like the smoking animation
Did you know that Jesus is God? Jesus, the Son of God, gave His life on the cross for the forgiveness of sins. Through His sacrifice, we can live forever in Heaven! Repent, follow Jesus, and live forever! If you want to learn more about Jesus and Heaven, check out the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the Holy Bible.
i know it’s cliche but i think if not your own voice, someone with a more gritty and darker voice would’ve suited the script, it just doesn’t seem to fit. as does the quality isn’t as compressed or textured as a ps1 game could always have alts!
@@AaronMYoung Haha x) Well you can sort of hear that, lol. My suggestion is that you get ahold of a real voice actor on like Fiverr or something. Voice acting is not an easy thing to do if you aren't experienced but having a proper voice actor can make a huge difference in the impact of what they're saying
This looks graphically absolutely beautiful, but you completely lost me at the signs. Subtlety, dude. Subtlety. You're smacking me in the face with your message. Games should be political and emotional and poetic, but when the message is being spelled out, it feels like you don't trust the audience's intelligence, or like you don't know how to communicate your message without saying it directly to us. You experience art, like you experience games. It shouldn't say the thing AT us, but allow us to feel it WITH it.
Thank you for taking your time out to check it out, I appreciate your opinion though I think you missed the true message however I will keep that in mind. Genuinely thank you for checking it out.
I have released the project, I recommend playing it for yourself link is in the description.
Bro just dropped cry of fear 2
Bro dropped cry of hill

I love the aesthetics and atmosphere you created. - A hug from Brazil! 🤙
Thats seriously amazing Aaron! Congrats. Games meet Art, i get the feeling that there is a lot of you in this. The fps view looks incredible
Thanks for checking it out, we struggle but we fight back!

Just played it and you've cooked, I can't begin to imagine what you're going to pull off with more complex projects. Brilliant job Aaron.
This is very special I hope you keep creating you've inspired my own, thank you.

I enjoyed playing your game, thanks!
How long it took you to finish it?
I was just rewatching your dev logs and lost hope if ever see this.
Amazing work ❤
Feels like home ❤
Beautiful experience and valid critics.
Thank you for sharing your work.
Hope you the best!
Oh boy, I've been looking forward to this day for so long. Congratulations on release man, love your work.
Thanks :)
Amazing work!! I aspire to create something like this someday.
so did the original idea with the game about the garage and the cult thing get scrapped? i loved that..
No, dude. You can work on multiple projects without scrapping the other one.
I guess it's just cheaper to use existing assets from the main project for your other project. Which kind of line up with the premise of this side project?
I feel u bro
I am 35 years old, and this is EXACTLY how I fell every damn day. ( I work in mobile games, art )

Excellent
If you did it alone you're a pure genious!
This game is very helpful
Well Cooked brother
wow
Well done mate i love the ps1 look and you smashed it. I'm really impressed with the art. So is it a walking sim? Or do you fight things as well?
did you not watch the video?
@thruthevoids huh? What did I miss sorry?
Hype!
very cool
life is a struggle.
True, but thousands of years from now in Heaven with Jesus, you won't even remember this world. 100 years compared to eternity is insignificant.
No on Steam?
Love to see you back making games, man. Is Project Nostalgia still a thing? I'm still very excited about it xd

Well, like I've said...
Smoker simulator...
Good game❤
Any chances for the steam release?

We got cry of fear from walmart before gta6
I love the atmosphere and vibes, visually it's a treat, but the voice is standing out weirdly. Like I'm constantly being reminded of poor voice acting with poor mic.
i feel like the symbolism is too on the nose, but maybe thats what you're going for!
Cry Of Fear

I'll be honest, this looks cool but I'm not a huge fan of the voice acting, it doesn't sound very professional.
It's not actually voice acted, The voice is from Avalon a youtuber "who records himself talking to a camera" his words :'D
@@AaronMYoungmaybe some compression and other effects can eliviate their professionality concerns
