I saw Queen several times beginning in 1975 and they were pure magic, especially sweet Freddie 😘😇
Freddie was the ultimate showman. At one of his earliest performances when he was with another band, he had trouble getting the mic out of the stand and was able to get that top section out and from then on that’s how he used the mic. He said that he wanted it to be his thing that he would be known for. Brian and Roger were in a band called Smile and they all knew each other from College and when Tim, the lead singer of Smile, left it was natural to have Freddie join and then they got John Deacon on bass. It was Freddie’s idea to change the name to Queen.and the rest is history
This song is inspired by the film Highlander, Queen did all the songs for it. It's a kind of magic is a line from the film and There can be only one is the films tag line. The rest describes the film in a vague way, so it does have meaning to those who have seen the film.

This song was originally written as part of the score that Queen wrote for the movie Highlander (About a warrior from a 16th-century Scottish clan is one of several 'immortals' scattered across the globe and doomed to battle each other to the death for a mysterious prize).
They reworked it and made it into a Queen song.

Queen performed two nights at Wembley and on one of the nights during this song giant balloon characters of Freddie, Brian, Roger, & John were released into the air. The cover art for A Kind Of Magic album are the same cartoon characters! 🎈🎈🎈🎈

You are right the Queen as a band and Freddie's voice was a kind of magic. You should check out the official video, because it's really funny, Freddie plays an old wizard who was the star at the theater once and the band members are some homeless guys.
Freddie's dress style was as colorful as himself, his favorite colour was the yellow.

Rock trivia: Freddie and Michael Jackson hung out together some. They were jamming in MJ's studio at Neverland, trying to create something...When Michael brought his pet llama into the house, Freddie....had to go somewhere else. True story. They never did get a song out together
If you want a truly heartfelt queen song listen to these are the days of our lives! It was one of the last songs Freddie did when he was dying of aids, he chose for the video to be done in black and white due to his appearance as the illness took control. Just close your eyes and listen to the lyrics you will not regret
