This is my third time "hugging" Sim Gretina. Can you tell I might just really enjoy his music? XP shot
I wanted to treat this song as a completely cheesy pop song, using a bunch of often repeated pop motifs that usually don't mean anything (Such as impossible promises of never letting someone down, when you know the singer PROBABLY isn't the most faithful fellow out there), and giving them something of a reality check. I wanted to put actual honest meaning behind those far-too-often repeated words, and drew from my experiences of dealing with my own sinfulness to try and achieve that.
Hopefully you can enjoy this song for it's fun poppy sound (brought to you by the wonderful Sim Gretina ;D) but also for the message in its lyrics. It's something I feel is far too often missing from popular music of any era.

Haha, I was wondering how many people might remember that track from Neverfree. It's probably my fave track on the album... or was. I might have listened to it a few too many times while writing this to still call it my fave XD But I still love it. "Just StruttingThru" and "A Cottage At The Edge Of The Forest" are also both great, but I think the title track "Neverfree" is my current fave off the album =u=

The lyrics kind of makes me think of it as a Christian song and as a Christian i like that
As a Christian I can say you would be more or less correct to assume that XP At least as far as the lyrics go anyway. My faith influences a lot of my songs, whether obviously or subtly. I would be a lot more obvious about it if I was working on songs with another Christian, but since most of my collabs & hugs are with people who are not, they mostly end up being subtle.
It's not like I go into songs TRYING to write a "Christian song", or like I say: "well darn gotta be subtle with this one" or anything. I just write from my own perspective, and that is a perspective influenced by God =P So it just comes out that way naturally.

Not sure how I missed this one, don't know if I was busy three months ago. I'm here now though and it's lovely like always. I seem to repeat myself on each of these songs, such a mixed bag of emotions folded neatly together. As oxymoronic as that is, it's the only way I can think of right now to describe. I'll never get over these songs.
