Back in the mid-60's, there was a lot of confusion about who wrote Hey, Joe, but Tim Rose and a guy named Chet Powers got most of the credits. Chet Powers was a well-known pseudonym of Dino Valente's, who apparantly sold the rights a number of times to different people.

Boy, I can't get over all of the mistakes, misinformation and errors in this video. And a lot of the names being mispronounced, that is just wrong. Not to mention historical facts being wrong as well. I worked with Terry & The Pirates producing many CDs for Terry Dolan and I was John Cipollina's roadie in 1988 and 1989. So I'm pretty hip to their history, and John Cipollina's too and I helped in producing his 3 DVD set "Recoil".

I've discovered that most of these San Francisco bands tended to be much older (age-wise) than many of the other bands from the Midwest, the South, the East Coast, Canada and the UK who usually started bands as teenagers. These guys were often all in their 30s by the late 60s! Its like they had a different mindset: "I'll finish College first--then I will form a band"

I heard QMS first on a AFN radio program called "Underground". It was broadcastet from Frankfurt, Germany, starting at midnight once a week in 1969. The DJ was named Bill Kenny.
The intro of the broadcast was "Gold and Silver" and the song's magic blew me away. For me, a young german dude, living in Düsseldorf, this music was truely an epiphany. 🙏
Then later came "Happy Trails". Who ever has heard "Who do you love" on an acid trip, will never forget it. To me one of the best 3 live albums of all time. Later on came Dino Valenti, and his annoying voice killed the band's magic , but I still collected most of their albums including Gary Duncans solo works.

I remember Quicksilver setting up for open rehearsals in an episcopal church. There was a chuch sign outside. I went in and the place was empty. After awhile this guy dressed up like a butler came up with a tray of Cheech Chong joints. After I got high Quicksilver came out and just jammed lfor acouple of hours ,just like any other band! And this went on on a daily basis all Spring! It was strange that I was all alone! Nobody else ever came in! The butler would show up and turn me on to a fat OZ! I was pretty close to heaven. From a biblical point of view, this band of messengers/angels did their job they were inspired to do by the Aloha Spirit then disbanded to other "fields" as the Spirit directed! Many of the songs/psalms, for those who know the prophetic Word of God, can find paraphrases reflected His Word, in the attempt to warn His "Flower children" to get out of the cities and into the country where the Lord will be more able to be "heard!" What happened was that Dino Valenti sabotaged the greatest psychedelic guitarist John Cipolinna the first 2 albums with Cipolinna and Duncan is the pinnacle of the San Francisco sound

John and my pop were freinds laughed about your conceptions and stayed close til John died. They spent hours every Wednesday at Sam’s family restaurant in San Rafael and played together many times at the Chi chi and Saloon in spite of the rumors and actually got a kick out of walking in to clubs together. They loved each other and no other two members were closer. I promise you cuz I was the one in the end pushing John’s wheelchair around til he passed. Hate is such a non music thing back then sorry you’re so pissed off. Maybe correcting the rumors will help y’all
