@@QUIOCHO17 no. I’ve done every test, seen a rheumatologist too. Honestly I’ve not done the bone marrow biopsy because I’m terrified. My platelets are in the 525 range so since it’s nit crazy high I’m on the “get tested every 6 months” train. I recently found out my Vitamin D levels were ridiculously low. So I take a 10,000 supplement. I also work out & got a cpap machine. In general I don’t have negative symptoms right now. Cleaning up my diet-ditching sugar, too. So I do feel better I just wish I could get answers. But from reading on here a bunch of us may be in the “medical anomaly” category that my doc puts me in.

My platelet count was in the millions! I saw a hematologist, so they took bone marrow( the worst, most painful thing I've experienced) and I was told I had essential thrombocytosis. I take 1000mg of hydroxyurea and aspirin daily now and will be for the rest of my life(I'm 43yo) it's a mutation in the bone marrow. JAK mutation. As long as you take care of yourself, and take your meds, you have a normal life..I'm fine.

Hi! Can I ask if you could share more about the condition? A relative of mine is having a similar condition as yours and we are worried that it may possibly be fatal. Does this mean that my relative would have to take regular blood checkups and take medication for the rest of their life? My relative will be having this bone marrow surgery soon and would it be possible if you could share more about the experience? If it's a hassle, I would understand if you chose not to. But either way, I would like to thank you for your time in reading this and I sincerely hope that I could hear from you soon. :)

@@Lloydrellon hello. With anyone, when they hear "cancer", it's a scary word. When I was diagnosed, I thought my life is over! But, noooo, I'm going to be fine praise the Lord! Some doc say it's a "blood disorder ", some say cancer. You have to be positive, don't think the worst. I rarely talk about it. As for the meds, I guess it really depends on your relatives condition and what the doc feels is best for them. I am high risk of heart attack, stroke and blood clots, but like I said, just take care of yourself, it's that easy. Your relative may have to take meds for the rest of thier life, . I felt nauseous for thr 1st yr then that feeling tapers off, now its just once in a while, nothing to bad..some ppl get sores in the mouth , legs..i haven't. At least i can live my life normally. After a few years on it, my body no longer tolerate it. My doctor decided to get me into a clinical trial medication called Jakafi. It works like a dream! My platelets run steady at about 230. There are three “driver” mutations discovered to date: Jak2, CALR and MPL. Hydroxurea is the old drug of choice bit is not for long term use for our chronic cancers. Nowadays Pegulated low dose weekly interferon is the drug of choice for our chronic cancer. I am 23 years diagnosed with ET.

It has steadily increased over 6 months from 475 to pretty much always over 500. My doctor has had me do blood work for other things, and didn’t mention my (high) platelet count. @@FF-lj4lw Thank you for that info, FF. I googled “Thrombocytosis and Psoriasis meta-analysis” (those are compilations of studies) and found good information as it looked at many angles…like how high are the PLT counts w duration of psoriasis, and how many went on to develop even higher PLT count over time etc. I don’t have changes in any blood count but my platelets, so a more generalized heme disorder like thalassemia isn’t considered for me by the docs. My mother had high PLT counts approx 450-550 her entire life, and only later in life (age 65) got psoriasis, interestingly. I’m sorry about the worsening since vax for you. Despite all the pressure to get it, I avoided it bc I suspected it’d have repercussions given my inflammatory issues (psoriasis, very mild spotty alopecia). I know many were forced to get it for work, travel, etc. Im sorry for the effect for you; I believe you regarding the connection, FF.

I looked it up and it appears covid can increase platelet count. I cannot find anything on whether it goes back down well after the infection, but since covid, I've had skin itching after shower, due to a weird rash on back and stomach that only itches after shower; strange visual disturbances (screen looks blurry when reading on my phone) and generally weak. *IF YOU HAD COVID RECENTLY, IT MAY BE THE REASON.* I don't know why but wonder if it's due to bodily inflammation caused by covid infection. My skin itches when I take a shower. It’s very uncomfortable 😳. I also get dizzy and have passed out. I had a splenectomy many years ago because I have ITP or too few platelets. Thank you for this very important information. I wonder if it’s a possibility that my platelet count fluctuates. My blood tests have not caused a 🚩 red flag, so I assume I’m good.

My plaletes was 433. My wbc was.10.9. My Rhumatoidologist says she's gonna keep a check on it? I'm kinda concerned because the wbc decreased slightly from a mth ago and my platelets which was normal on the high side a mth ago and within a mth elevated. Do i still have the thrombocytosis at that level? When i was little i had a PTT causing bleeding. Now supposedly i don't now it appears the opposite from what i read.

I am having a panic attack. Someone please share your experience so that I can prepare myself. I did PRP injection on face and injected Vitamin C weekly once for a year. I didn't do a blood test for 2 years as I had no health issues. I did one on June 29th in which the platelet count was 739. I took a test again on the 11th of July and the count was 728. I took the test again today ie. 25th of July and the count is 705. I have stopped all cosmetic treatments for 4 weeks now yet it's still above 700.
      29 June - 739
      11 July - 728
      24 July - 705
Is it dropping or is it consistent?
All other report came out normal. I didn't do JAK 2 and bone marrow biopsy as I don't want to accept that I have cancer😓😓
I thought if I stopped everything it should go back to normal in a week. Is that so or will it take months to go down?

@@sahrah8253 hi Sahrah. No, no itching. My hematologist asked if I have itching especially when I get out of the shower, but I do not. Why do you ask?
Actually for the first time in 3 years my blood platelet level was considered normal at 372. Then it went back up to 395 in April.
The only things I did different was I first moved my bed in my room after 5 years.
It was up against a wall where directly on the other side was huge electric wiring. I read a article where they said high platelets can come from exposure to strong electrical wiring or exposure to chemicals.
Then I started going to an ayurvedic doctor for the platelets becauss no one was giving me answers. I went to 3 different hematologists/oncologist, 4 different gastroentologists, 1 rheumetoid doctor, 1 neurologist, 2 dentists, 4 different primary doctors, 1 endocrinologist, 2 pulmonary doctors and 1 allergy doctor.
Trying to solve what was causing my elevated plaetlet level with no answers. My primary sent me to integrative medicine where I started acupuncture. My acupuncture doctor then sent me to her own acupuncture doctor who started all different kinds of weird methods with me which have seem to miraculously be working.
I started drinking Tulsi tea (holy basil tea) every night as per my ayurvedic doctors directions, also bone both eevery night for 3 months.
      Dry brushing and meditation.
All of the sudden my platelet level dropped to 400 then 372 then back to 395.
The hematologist said to me "I don't know what you are doing but whatever it is keep doing it"

      How it was decreased?

    • @lissadipity
      @lissadipity 4 года назад +3

Could be reactive thrombocythemia but a bone marrow is usually needed to determine wether or not the increase was due to genetic reasons (primary thrombocythemia) or secondary (due to surgery, injury, blood loss, medicine, or not directly related to your bone marrow). I have Essential Thrombocythemia and im triple negative for all the known mutations but I have SF1 which is basically and uncharted myeloid malignancy/mutation that may be driving ET in my case. Im not a doctor but I would def. recommend getting a follow up and if your PLT count is still high, may want to consider getting a BMB (bone marrow biopsy) done to narrow down what may be causing the fluctuation in count.
