Big congrats on making it into NY harbor and Lady Liberty! A major accomplishment. Loved your patriotic music too. You're probably way beyond these places already but I highly recommend stopping in Kingston NY -- very charming, lovely houses, a museum, and a restaurant. Also recommend the town dock in Troy NY -- Troy had gorgeous architecture and a number of fine restaurants. Enjoying sharing your voyage.
Thanks John, what a nice compliment! We did stop in Kingston (Connelly) for a night, but we didn't go over to Kingston and eat... we passed by Troy and went to Waterford and had a great meal there at "I love Rosa's"!! Thanks for watching! :-)
You two absolutely rock, the videos are always awesome and i love the tip of the week segments. Always sending safe thoughts , Fare winds and following seas and the currents need to always flow the direction ya'll want to go.lol..
Oh wow, thank you Scott, such kind words of support and encouragement! We really appreciate it! And we need all the help with CURRENTS that we can get! LOL Thanks for watching! :-)
Haha, BEST comment this week! Listen, if you knew Chris, you'd know that is just how he is - he is living his dream and he knows it and is having the time of his life - he might not smile but inside he's beaming! :-) Thanks for watching! and watch this week's episode at the end! :-)
This was a wonderful episode - very moving. I can only imagine the exhilaration of seeing the Statue of Liberty from your own boat, and the sense of pride of making the journey. Gives me goosebumps. BTW, thanks for the tip of the week - we had a line squawking and groaning in a hawse hole last week that was driving me nuts one night, so I can’t wait to give the dish soap trick a try!
Aw thank you Kari for your kind words! Yes it was amazing, we were definitely feeling pride and a sense of accomplishment! And hope the squeaky line trick works! We will be posting a second trick this week! Thanks for watching! :-)
YES! We did visit the town - it was FANTASTIC! We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and actually all the way up the NJ coast was awesome! thanks for watching! :-)
Just saw Episode 19 and you guys are doing great. I loved the data that you had on there especially the info about maintenance and upkeep on the boat. Congrats on making it to the Finals of the World series and Gig em from a Red Raider!! Guns Up!
Hey Steve! Thanks so much for your kind comments! And YES we are SO excited for our Aggies! We have been following Aggie baseball for over 20 years! GIG 'EM!
Another great show, now I know the speed of a knot. I was wondering about the way they did the rope in tha water. Thank you and I'll see you on the next show.
I can't believe that you're in my neck of the woods!! I've been following you since you left Texas! We are in Kingston, NY at the Roundout Yatch Basin Marina (although we are only there over the weekends since we still work). We will be leaving for The Loop June 2025.❤
Haha Deb, it was so awful, I thought we were going to be hit for sure. Very scary, terrifying! Thanks for watching, and yes it was so COOL to see the Statue from our boat!!! :-)
I don't know if you remember, but our boat is also at Cedar Mills and we will be doing the loop next year. Right now we are traveling in our RV and we are just down the canal from you. We are staying at Arrowhead Marina and RV park. It really is a small world. I think we must be destined to meet at some point.
Hey Vikki! Yes I remember you! Very cool and so exciting you are RV traveling! :-) It really is a small world for sure! We'd love to meet you someday, when will you be back in Cedar Mills? Thanks for watching! :-)
@@coolbeansloop2024 we are starting to head back to Texas. Currently in Ohio. Our boat took on some damage during a storm so we are slowly heading that way. The Marina is taking care of things, but, you know how it goes with owning a boat, we just want to be there. Should be home in around 10 days. Stay safe, we are enjoying your adventures.
How do you hook up to a mooring ball. The nose of our boat is to tall to reach the ball and so we have been attaching off the swim platform then pivoting around the ball and carrying the line to the nost of the boat to tie up there. This weekend my wife, got her finger caught in the line and it pulled the tip of her finger off. So how do you attach to a ball? Gig em/ Guns Up
Hey Steve! Oh wow that sounds painful for your wife! So sorry that happened! We have yet to tie to a mooring ball but plan to very soon - from what we understand you use a hook to reach the eye of the ball, bring it up and have one bow line go in the eye and back out, and cleat the line on same side, then do the same with the other bow line. Also, there are mooring pendants that some folks use. We'll let you know how it goes once we attach to one for the first time! Thanks!
Did you not have that shrimp boat on AIS? Had he turned his off? Commercial vessels must use it. If you don't have AIS it makes it much safer to see around corners. Is it legal to fly a drone near the statue of Liberty to get some great pics?
That is an excellent question! I didn't check AIS, but our buddy boat checked right before we pulled out and said the coast was clear. We were so freaked out that we didn't even think to check afterwards, if he had turned it on fifteen seconds before he almost hit us! Regardless, we are ok but going forward we will be more vigilant!!! I don't believe you can fly a drone around NY harbor or the Statue of Liberty, but you can double-check me on that. Thanks for watching! :-)
I'm 50 and wanting to do it he loop also! I'm from Michigan! How long will it take to get up to Bay City! My sister owns some air B and Bs close to the bay!
Thank you! Great Video! I love living your adventures with you. Thank you for sharing.

Haha Steve, it was AWFUL, we almost were shrimp bait! But other than that it's been amazing! Thanks for watching, and GIG 'EM!!! :-)
