    Hour south of Lexington? Right in my area. There’s countless geodes in the creeks all around the Cumberland

    I love seeing the reveal! I like wrapping mine in a wet towel or shirt once it's chained up. Loose enough to see when it pops so I don't keep crankin, but tight enough to contain. Safer for the eyes, not to mention whats inside the geode! Great hunting!

    I found geodes off of creek right by the river in Kentucky but the whole entire field that they freshly broke to try to grow crops and was nothing but Geos in the rainwater has just washed them and there you cannot take one step without stepping on one

    I think I have seen these in my area Mark....and had no idea they were geodes. This has me really curious now....I am going to have to go see If I can pick a few up. You been finding any points? It has been slow here,,,,gettting a few....but not many

    • @RockHunterMark
      @RockHunterMark  3 года назад

      Hey Rocks, I found three points last week. I hope you find geodes. It has been slow here too. A lot of the possible geodes are usually solid crystal inside. Still this is a good find. Have fun with your treasure hunting and rock on

    Hey Mark! I love seeing you open the geodes! They're very pretty! Any advice on how to look for geodes along the river? I'm in Southeastern Ohio near the Scioto River.

    • @RockHunterMark
      @RockHunterMark  3 года назад

      There aren’t geodes everywhere. I would try creeks And construction sites. If you don’t have a certain kind of rock type found in your area then you get online and find a place near you. Happy rock hunting

      @@RockHunterMark Thank you Mark. My Son and I walk along the River a lot. I often see simple round Rocks. Usually I am just looking for a nice Rock to add to my Garden . But , I am wondering if I may be missing some Geodes.? I watch Yorkshire Fossils on YT and the Ammonites they find are round rocks that appear to have a seam line in them . I am wondering what specifically to look for in a Geode? Maybe its just 'hit or miss ? Have a wonderful week !

      The only thing I can say is that the geodes around here have little dimples on the outside of the rock. It’s hard to describe what to look for. Hope the best for you, rock on

      @RockHunter Mark. Hi Mark, I'm in Bardstown Kentucky for a few days. I'm new to rockhounding but love love geodes. Do you know of any places around here I can go try my luck? I was amazed at how many you found at that one creek then read that it was private. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Have a blessed day.

      Is it near a creek at all? I grew up in Hopkins County (near Henderson) but live in Maine now. We are headed back to Madisonville in September & are hoping to do some rockhounding once down there. Any suggestions of places in the Western Ky area? We'd love to find something to bring back. Just started shark teeth hunting here in Maine. So very excited for that. Thanks so much!!

    Mark on day 27 there was the bonis geode and I was thinking that if you cut the center out leaving the void in a rectangular block, then polished that it might be reall cool.

    I live in Southern Illinois, what part of Kentucky is this, if you don't mind me asking? I started rock hunting 5 yrs ago and the few Geodes I have been able to find were in rock beds that was hauled in. I am absolutely dying to go Geode and Arrowhead hunting asap I just don't know where to go or what to look for. Is there any certain tips I need to know when hunting Geodes? This is an amazing video and you are my favorite RUclips Rock Hound.

    The hardest part of rock hunting for me is carrying all the geodes back to my car. I find SO MANY in Kentucky, all over the place, lately have been hitting up Stanford and Somerset areas. I haven’t been to one creek where I haven’t found a TON. I got some heavy rope and a wagon to try next weekend. It’s hard carrying them in a backpack or bucket-I even tried a pillow case, but I always come home with at least 50 pounds of rocks, and I’m an old lady. So… 😂
    I have an instagram, if any of you can help identify some things I find, I’ll post them. That would be great. Same name as my name here.

      The chain puts a pressure point all the way around spaced out onto the geode. This will give you a nice even break. My giant stone splitter puts pressure on two points at the top and the bottom. This makes for a more uneven break .
