After our chat yesterday at the Saddlebags rideout I had to revisit this review and you've given a great assessment during a short ride. Your reaction when you first fire up the bike sums the whole thing up perfectly. The sound it makes is one of its biggest assets - it never gets old and your sound setup does it full justice. You're right about it being made for hooning. It's perfect as a back lane charger. Incidentally, the trip meter goes to "Trip R" when you have about 30 miles of fuel left, then counts you down. A proper fuel gauge would be better but I've never found it a problem.
Hi Paul, great day want it. You have great taste in bikes my friend. Are you in debonair? I can't remember if you said or not. I'd love to see yours sometime. 👍🍻
Just came across this review, very nice and have one of these bikes and blast around Worcestershire back roads when I can most fun bike I have ever owned ;-)
Hi. I’ve just found your channel, and am enjoying your contributions, makes a pleasant change from the ‘London Aviator’, who tries to monopolies the channel. At the moment I’m in the process of buying an R1250 GS , having been without one for a year or so. Once you’ve had a bike, it’s difficult to get them out of your system. I live in Yorkshire, but my daughter is living in Seaton, so I do visit your neck of the woods quite frequently. When I get the new bike a rundown to her and back will get the thing run in, and get the first service done with. Keep the vlogs coming
Great review! I am getting one next week! My first! Cant wait ! Going from and old ducati monster 600 year 2000 to this ! My world will never be the same!
@@exeterrider , that is so cool ! Love old bikes! I’m keeping my GPZ600R that is all original! So much fun to ride ! And the R -nine T will be my more modern bike ! Life is good !
Thumbs up on the review. Got a 2017 GS Exclusive myself which is a brill bike for the long trip but fancy one of these for everyday use. Will have took take a look when out of lockdown. Keep up the way you're doing these rides, it's natural. 👍👏
New subscriber and long time motorcyclist ,had a feeling in my water you were going for a N.C. apparently very easy bike to work on .Oh and I am a tiny bit jealous my favourite looking bike the R NINE . I have a Triumph because I am a short arse . Would be interesting to know about service intervals on these bikes you road test and typical cost of a service .Go steady .
Yeap I should include that in the future, this rnine was good but I didn't bond with it too be honest. I think I would be better on a newer water cooled boxer tbh
I do think it's funny how we all see things differently. I was seduced by all the press reports of the r9t racer so ordered one. Nice bike BUT it was very uncomfortable and I found the engine to feel flat and not very nice. So I sold it. Great review though, yet again. Oh and by the way the first service cost a fortune (for what they do) so be warned.......
Yes I know what you mean actually. Compared to the new water cooled engines this particular bike was a bit flatter but I think that was also part of the charm of it. It would fit some people that like more retro replicas which isnt me but would suit others. Like you say I can imagine the seat would become a bit hard after a while. Cheers

@@exeterrider Brilliant day. It was good to meet you and see the R850R in action. I'm in North Dorset but hope to meet up again in the future.
@@paulstredwick ahh yes, shame your not closer.... Yeap we will meet again. First vid coming up Friday of the rideout😉👍
I’ve had 2 Boxers- R80GS and R100GS. Great bikes with shaft drive- really good to see that BMW have kept the Boxer engine line.
Hi Andrew. Yes I agree, they have certinly made it there own. It has a good character.

Yea I think fun is a very good way to describe it. Lovely sound too.
The thing I’ve always liked about these bikes is their versatility. Go a lot of places on one of these you can’t on a road bike.

Thanks Gareth. Yes Seaton is a nice ride from Exeter actually. Jurassic coast, lovely😉

Excellent, they have lovely motors on them. I own a 1998 BMW r850r now which is similar 👍🍻

Thanks John. Yeap I'll keep it up. Getting better all the time. Thanks for watching 😊👍
Bike sounds great 👍🏻
Yeap it was impressive. One of the best parts about the bike I thought.
Ive got one in the garage, just come back from a blast around Normandy on it and will need the smile surgically removed!
Haha never heard it out that way before!

I rode a R1100GS from 4000 miles to 95000. Great bikes. I'd like one of these.
Impressive. Yes that build quality you can really feel. I liked the simplicity of this one too. Thanks 1990
@@exeterrider I do, too. But I wish it had a digital speedo with an analogue rev counter sweeping around the edge.
@@1990-t1j yeap and fuel gauge for me
@@exeterrider Exactly. For the price ...
With nought much to do apart from checking out you guys I've been on autotrader and they also do a very nice black option. Take a look......sweet 👌
Yeap, bock looks a proper classic. Plenty on my channel to get you through lol. The, RT is proberly my favourite bmw do far I think. Enjoy👍🍻

I would Really like to get a good look at the jacket your're wearing in this video! Are those teeth on your sleeves?!!
Teeth!? 😬I hope not... I will do a quick video on my Jacket sometime.
No B/S review and I get a good feeling about your passion for the whole experience. I like the bike but don't think i'd buy one.
Thanks John and yes I feel the same way actually. For the money you could get a bike that does more, GS850 for example. Great bikes they are👍🍻👍
