    It’s great to see old school cars which are 30-40 years old still doing this sort of stuff…… even with little issues along the way. This is what adventure is about. It goes to show majority of people can do it. You don’t need these super expensive sponsored 4WD’s to do this sort of stuff. Well done guys.

    I don't know how I missed the first one in the series ,but I really liked it ,and the other Simpson Desert videos.

    It's a shame people feel the desire to vandalise our old buildings in the desert. Great video. I ride a CRF300L and will be riding out that way in June from east NSW

    Hi Dave, Great Video, Glenys and I went up to Birdsville a similar route to you (2021) in our Hiace, we had to go around from Ivanhoe due to rain so we missed Wilcannia and White Cliffs but went to Meninndi and Cameron Cnr. due to SA being in lock down we followed the Border all the way round to Birdsville then went North. But I'm keen to do it next time on the Bike.

      Yeah always a good trip heading up there! Also done other similar trips in cars/vans/4x4s and that was the first time on the bike :)

    Looks like you had the bike pretty stock, tyres, exhaust. I’m guessing you changed out the suspension before this trip? I’ve got a Rally and don’t mind the stock most of the time, but for safety at speed I think would be good to change for long trips

    • @twodognight
      @twodognight  Год назад +1

      Yeah pretty much stock except as you say the suspension. I fitted YSS rear shock & front spring suited to my weight, this makes a huge improvement! Also fitted some D606s part way through the trip as I was still on the original IRC tyres that were done.

      @@twodognight yeh I’m thinking to skip exhaust/ecu upgrades atm especially whilst in warranty. How much was the suspension to get done? Did someone fit it for you? I’m at 4000kms tyres nearly done too!

    • @twodognight
      @twodognight  Год назад +1

      Yeah agree exhaust/ecu would be fun to muck around with, but realistically you're not going to get that much power out of it and my thinking is to keep it stock/reliable. The other popular mod is to change the gearing, but I've not done that myself.
      For the yss stuff it was about $900 for the parts and I installed it myself. Rear is easy, front is a bit of a pain but there are plenty of howto videos on youtube. Biggest issue with diy is I'm not 100% sure if it's setup optimally, but it's working well for what I need.

    How did the rally feel on the highway sections, was it comfortable and how was the gearing?

    • @twodognight
      @twodognight  2 года назад

      The rally is "OK" on the highway sections. I found it comfortable enough for the first 300km of the day then anymore than that is a bit ordinary. I just have stock gearing, sitting on 100km/h is good, trying to keep up with the cars doing 110km/h uses a lot of fuel!
