If you are planning on installing the 3.5" Rox risers on a CRF 300 Rally (ABS) you may find this video useful. As you can see it is possible with the stock cables, but you are pretty much at the limit! #crf300 #crf300rally

Great choice of bikes!
😁
Beautiful species of nature
It’s great to see old school cars which are 30-40 years old still doing this sort of stuff…… even with little issues along the way. This is what adventure is about. It goes to show majority of people can do it. You don’t need these super expensive sponsored 4WD’s to do this sort of stuff. Well done guys.
I flooded the engine on a CRF300L this way. We were 3 guys so I took the air filter out, put it on it's rear wheel and rolled it backwards in 6th. Water came out, she started right back up. Flushed the engine twice and she's still truckin'.
I bought these for my Ducati Desert Sled. Fitted it and working well but I am afraid how reliable are these. The extra length cause any unwanted leverage force? How is it working for you, offroad experience?
They don't cause me any issues. Sometimes if I drop the bike it will knock them out of position.
@@twodognight Thanks!
Another great video. What a shame though the the pricks are examining at closing off access to lake eyre due to cultural significance and safety. FFS!
It's a shame people feel the desire to vandalise our old buildings in the desert. Great video. I ride a CRF300L and will be riding out that way in June from east NSW
i spear around there. it gets amazing at dawn sometimes. fish everywhere. nice vid
You are lucky for just an engine cleanup. I've bent a conrod this way 15 years ago.
Hi I really enjoy your videos and location where you guys ride, I ride enduro bikes bit I am new to adv riding. Are you guys in a club or just mates riding?
Awesome
Cool vid.. do u ever do spear fishing ?
Have you had suspension done mate
yeah put in YSS shock unit on the back and YSS spring for my weight in the front.
@twodognight cheers I did find that out in e3 lol. Sweet trip
Have ridden the Mawson trail a couple of times on a push bike, just took delivery of my 300 rally, can't wait to get back to SA and recon a push bike ride from Adelaide to Uluru. Googs track and the Simpson are all on the horizon.
How do i join one of these events? I would ride my Rally from Coffs to join an event like this in Vic...
Hi Bill - Join this group on Facebook - "Honda CRF250L / CRF300L / Rally Owners Australia" - facebook.com/groups/610842012422920/ From time to time people organise group rides, you might find one closer to home too!
Really enjoying these videos. What time of year was this ? Looked pretty cool during the day.
It was July last year so good temps to ride in, mid 20's
@@twodognight sounds perfect. Thanks! I'm planning for next year from Perth to Mackay.
sounds epic!
Turns out full send only works 70% of the time.
What suspension are you running?
Got a YSS rear shock unit and a YSS spring in the front for my weight. Working well for me.
Well, it is liquid cooled after all.....right?
I'm enjoying your videos mate. Have you done anything to your suspension ? I'm looking at a 300 , lots of talk about the suspension 🤔
Yeah suspension essential to sort out. I went for the yss rear shock unit and a spring for the front. This seems to be sufficient for adventure style riding and a bit of rough stuff from time to time.
Cool ride!
Getting my snorkelling hit as it's still raining. Out of interest do you swim to the poles or hit left of the stairs. I'm normally at jawbone so unfamiliar with crystals. Thanks. PS so peaceful ❤️
Mostly I go right from the steps and follow the rock wall and them swim out a bit. All pretty random really. Last time I walked down to Jawbone and swam back to Williamstowns beach.
Wow what did you shoot with?
GoPro 10... as long as there is a decent amount of light it gets good results. Also did some colour correction to improve anything that's too blue or too green.
Looks like you had the bike pretty stock, tyres, exhaust. I’m guessing you changed out the suspension before this trip? I’ve got a Rally and don’t mind the stock most of the time, but for safety at speed I think would be good to change for long trips
Yeah pretty much stock except as you say the suspension. I fitted YSS rear shock & front spring suited to my weight, this makes a huge improvement! Also fitted some D606s part way through the trip as I was still on the original IRC tyres that were done.
@@twodognight yeh I’m thinking to skip exhaust/ecu upgrades atm especially whilst in warranty. How much was the suspension to get done? Did someone fit it for you? I’m at 4000kms tyres nearly done too!
Yeah agree exhaust/ecu would be fun to muck around with, but realistically you're not going to get that much power out of it and my thinking is to keep it stock/reliable. The other popular mod is to change the gearing, but I've not done that myself. For the yss stuff it was about $900 for the parts and I installed it myself. Rear is easy, front is a bit of a pain but there are plenty of howto videos on youtube. Biggest issue with diy is I'm not 100% sure if it's setup optimally, but it's working well for what I need.
@@twodognight thanks so much mate for that info, keep on riding 👍 such a great little machine to take you anywhere
without music it was better
Bro went swimming
Can you give me a shout out I’m your first like
That happened to one of my friends
Always check depth
weight back and full trhottle ... but you already know - better than me
Beautiful!
You need to purchase a motorcycle number plate back plate / frame from ebay seller myholders - this will stop the plate from splitting the next time and falling off ;)
I wonder if you found the plate on the way back ;)
had a good look, nowhere to be found!
Good stuff 👍
How tall are you?
6'3 - for me this setup allows for a much more natural standing position compared to stock or even the 20mm risers I had before. Don't know how optimal it is for serious off road but it's good for long days on the bike / adventure style riding.
@@twodognight Thank you! I’m 5’11 and have a hard time standing up. I’m at such a weird angle. So I’m trying to get an idea as to what size risers I should get.
Nice ride! Love to see the Rally.
All Rally's except for a sneaky 450!
Amazing!
Months later, the bike is still there. Rumors have it that the rider is occasionally seen on moonlit nights, on his knees in anguish, yelling at the sky, "Why, why why...?" or heard moaning in the far distance , "Why didn't I just wait ten seconds for my buddies to help pull me out!??!".
"Why didn't I test it with a stick?".... "Why didn't I let someone more experienced go first?"..... "Why didn't I go down the left wheel track?" ... Why?
That sucked...
I don't know how I missed the first one in the series ,but I really liked it ,and the other Simpson Desert videos.
Some beautiful trails there.
I drowned my hilux the same way. It didn't end well
First like and comment 🤙 all the way from Alice springs brother, home of the Finke desert race 🍻🍻🍻
On the bucket list - Alice and Finke!
Looked like fun, great way to do it without being loaded down .
Yeah for sure - full respect to the guys who do it unsupported!
Good to see you used timber test components.
Well you know where I got the idea from ;)
Great adventure, keep going.😍
I ran short of time when i headed to darwin a few months back white cliffs was the sacrifice to save time cheers for shaing your vid nice job mate keep it up
Great video Dave, really enjoyed watching this from a different perspective. Thanks for sharing! 👌
Hey Dave, That was a great trip, I enjoyed watching all the footage, We must organise a group CRF ride up that way sometime. How did the D606's go on there bitumen?
Yeah some type of outback CRF trip would be awesome, I'm always keen on some moto camping! The D606 are "ok" on the bitumen they seem to grip fine in the dry but are noisy. They didn't wear too badly - I'm still running the same tyres now and the rear has still got some life left in it!
Great video - why would a head gasket (24:59) of been helpful? surely a spare spark plug and a bottle of oil would of been more helpful?
Ahh that's the oil cover gasket - agree not that helpful! Yes if we had oil with us we would have been self sufficient!
