Thank you for your kind evaluations of my hometown of Calgary, born and raised. Calgarians are very kind and it carries over to all vacations.. we are very blessed. 😀
Get winter tires and i prioritize AWD but yeah road clearing is bad. I have been living without a car and in Beltline, but outside the core, you will be heavily inconvenienced. Been kinda surviving with Uber for absolutely needed trips. Downtown is dead. More family oriented, live in suburbs, weekend warrior.
BC weather is fairly good minus too many cloudy rainy days. Climate is not bad tho. Nature is nice here, very green. Nice valleys and mountains. The leftists gov sucks here tho. Inflation is terrible. Everything is expensive..🧐
Calgary gets a ton of sun.. and a ton of snow... in fact still snow right now.. that is the big difference for me betwwen calgary and toronto... Toronto right now and not sure what concrete jungle you see there are parks everywhere even downtown and its cherry blossoms atm and nothing like the spring blooms in toronto
I don't agree with your assessment of entertainment and nightlife. On any given day, there are tons of things happening around the city, with various festivals and live music throughout the year. You just need to know where to look.
Hey there! My husband shared this video with me :) we are around Nose Hill as well, love the park! I have been to Vancouver Island and Ontario, the skin behaves completely different over there🤣it is too dry here, swallowing creams every day. I don’t feel the weather much as when you are both working and driving kids to all their afterschool activities the day goes so fast. You need to live outdoors this is the only cool entertainment here😅skiing, snowboarding, kayaking etc. And when you travel to Toronto and Vancouver you really enjoy the crowd for a visit. Enjoy Calgary, few more weeks and we are in amazing summer!
I have never heard about ppl says -40 is good and not cold that is a lie. I live in Calgary . I hate Calgary weather , extreme cold. You can have 4 seasons in one day that makes health issues, headaches. Plea too dry in winter and summer too, bad for throat and skin.
Yes, the -40 weather can be a lot for sure! But in our opinion the clear sunny days are definitely worth it! Living in Toronto in the winter can become very depressing from the gloomy days and all the rain in November especially. You make a good point about the throat and skin. We bought a humidifier for our bedroom and that has helped a lot!
@@stephanddan I don’t know about Toronto. I think Vancouver is much better than Calgary , at least weather is much mild, less than 10 days snow a year. It may be less sunshine but ppl can still walk outside everyday, much better than Calgary which only can stay inside because of crazy cold (even sunshine), too cold to walk outside
@@janiceho6034 Steph and I met and used to live on Vancouver island. I don’t miss all the rainy gloomy days but you are right about the milder weather! And spring comes a lot sooner too!
@@stephanddan I love spring cherry blossom and flowers everywhere in Vancouver and Vancouver island. Summer and hot in summer, winery , u pick fruits and beaches in BC, not in Calgary for sure .
@@stephanddan I lived in Toronto for 10 years, Ottawa for 10 and to me, Calgary winter weather is more tolerable because of the SUN! Less moisture in that cold too!
Let's see now. They've blown their wad on a hockey rink so they can't afford a water main break. They over built the downtown core with office buildings. Under every train underpass there are the homeless with their shopping carts and pop bottles. Urban sprawl galore. Music venues continue to close (Mikeys and the Blues Can upcoming). There is a massive blue ring to exemplify the city's poor taste in art. Mounds of rain weathered sneakers litter to front of city hall supposedly recognizing a past injustice. Stampede music halls require hearing protection. Summer wildfire smoke is becoming the norm. Vagrants squat in public transit. West side downtown is shear emptiness. Rental accommodation is expensive and in short supply. Sure - there are pros when making relative comparisons.
I think you mean astronomy (study of space) not astrology (horoscopes). Enjoy YYC! Also, your assessment of the real estate market is not quite accurate. Rates have gone up exponentially. Lived here since 1980.

If you are considering astronomy , I would recommend contacting Calgary Centennial Planetarium. They may have some tips.
Calgary has dry winter compared to Toronto wet winter. I used to live in Toronto and -20C in Calgary is better than -20C in Toronto.
100% agree!
It is but you rarely get -20C in TO lol you absolutely DO in YYC.

BC is sucking so bad. But everyone I've known my whole life is here. Wish we could all go to Alberta

At one time, Steph mentioned a starter 200K condos or even less in Calgary...why not get me one please 😊

Nothing to do
In winter in Calgary , only cold and boring . Only time to come to Calgary is stampede in summer.
Now with 30% more water!

No homes left in Calgary. The mayor is rezoning for new immigration process.
To be fair, inventory is low across Canada
They need to build houses elsewhere around Calgary, like in Airdrie, Okotoks, etc.
The crime rate has increased since we’ve had more people coming in.

There's tons of homes being built around Calgary. The development in Chestermere is pretty significant
