ROCKY'S ITALY: Venice - The Church of the Frari

Constructed in the middle of the 14th century, the Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari (which is its full name) is one of Venice’s largest churches. Serving as the seat of the Franciscan order in Venice, the Gothic church is full of artistic masterpieces including the “Frari Altarpiece” by Giovanni Bellini and two magnificent paintings by Titian, one of which is his magnificent “Assumption of the Virgin Mary.”

I prefer a church or cathedral that’s less ‘wowzers’, I can pay more attention the individual art. Also the architecture outside gives me more of a sense of history.
