    Good video! We've gone back and forth between Halogens and LEDs. We've settled on Philips X-tremeVision 100% 9007 bulbs in our '95 Explorer. No Silvania bulbs for us! We noticed a few negatives with LEDs. We live in the Chicagoland area. Winters and freezing rain are a problem due to the lack of heat generated inside the lamp housings. The reflection off the falling snow didn't help. Driving in the rain was, as many have reported with the white vs yellow, also a challenge. The biggest drawback? The contrast from the white to the dark was too abrupt for the eye to adjust to. Road sign reflections were blinding. All comparisons were with new OEM style reflector housings and aimed/adjusted accordingly. For off-roading they would be GREAT but in the real world we're sticking with Halogens. We also upgraded our wiring harness with the relays to give full power to our bulbs. Again, good video!

    Thanks for posting this video. Because of this vid I used these same bulbs on my 98 Ranger. In my case I bought new retainers, new clips, and I polished and coated the lens using 1500 & 3000 grit sand paper and then polishing compound and a sealer. My results are nearly identical as seen in this vid.
    One thing not mentioned in this vid is the long range viewing difference between high & low beam. Its pretty much non existent. My high LED patch is pointed upward and the only difference it seems to make is increasing scattered light for off center viewing. It's certainly much better than stock but its a bit strange not really ever needing to use high beam. (yes mine are aimed properly)
    One last point is that I also measured LUX. Using an app on my ph I measured the before and after performance. At 3ft in front of the headlight I swept vertically and horizontally in a 2ft x 2ft square pattern recording the highest output. The stock lights were not too faded/yellow and they measured 9454lx. With the new LED's on low beam and my method of cleaning, polishing, and coating the lens they now measure 18,638lx.
    So far these AUXBEAM LED's are an excellent value of cost vs performance!

      Awesome feedback, thank you for sharing! The headlights in the video were redone as well. In my case I wet sanded the lights and used a 2k clear coat. Funny you mention the lux app. I actually used one for my LED bulb upgrades on the parking and tail lights.

    Idea of seeing more than a small dim patch right in front of me at night is very tempting but in my country installing anything other that halogen bulbs into reflector type housings is the most sure fire way to get your technical inspection terminated

      If you have separate bulbs for high and low beam, then I would recommend upgrading the high beam bulb.

    Nice, these seem like a much better product than the 9007 LED bulbs I tried from a different manufacturer. Mainly because of the removable plastic part (the ones I tried were one piece and practically impossible to fit past the factory retaining rings). Also I like the fans, the passive cooling in the ones I tried was probably the main reason one of them bit the dust after just a few months. Are these bulbs still working well for you after a couple months now?

      I'm really happy with these, have been doing a fair amount of night driving too. So much nicer to see at night than compared to the factory halogen bulbs. I can hear the fans if I power on the lights while the truck is off, but once I start the engine, the engine sound drowns out the fan. The fans are quite quiet by the way, I know some have concerns about extra sounds. I had to cut the factory retaining rings down, wouldn't fit any other way.

    Hi! Did you have a need for the canbus adaptor in this installation? Thank you Sir!

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  7 лет назад +1

      Not needed for this Ranger. I have installed Auxbeam LED headlight bulbs on a Volvo as well which does have the bulb error warning and it didn't trigger it. So, overall no flickering or bulb burnt out errors.

    Wont this blind other drivers? Don't you need a projector housing?

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  7 лет назад +1

      As mentioned in the video, I didn't have any issues. From what I've tested with LED lights in general and I haven't used projector housings, it depends on the bulb design, housing design, and probably most importantly that your headlights are angled correctly.

    • @CT_Taylor

      Well thats good to know. My 2001 oldsmobile aurora is rare so they dont make projector housings. But I want white/blue LEDS for headlights as it compliments the looks of the car and will match my interior/all my other lights being I converted them to LEDs as well.

      That I believe is a dual bulb setup right? If you were worried, you could run a slightly lower lumen light for the low beams, then for high beam bulbs run something higher. High beams wouldn't normally be used on other drivers, so that wouldn't affect the high output.

    • @CT_Taylor
      @CT_Taylor 7 лет назад +1

      That is a good idea. And yeah it uses dual beams. Thanks for that idea! The lights need to be readjusted in general, so when I get the LEDs I can make sure to properly aim them

    How is your radio reception with this brand? The led headlights I had in my Ranger would interfere with radio reception at night.

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  5 лет назад

      I haven't had any issues, but have heard of some LEDs causing interference.

    How does flashing high beam perform? (flashing: turning on/off very fast)

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  6 лет назад

      They have a faster start-up than compared to the factory halogen bulb. Each of the LED bulbs have 3 separate diodes, for low beam two are on, and once the high beams are activated all 3 illuminate.

    What was the exact measurement on that plastic piece you cut?

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  4 года назад

      Unfortunately I don't, I believe I just installed the LED bulb, then placed the piece beside it's locations and eyed it up.

    Has anyone installed this brand in a Volvo? I have a 2009 Volvo C30. I am curious if the low wattage would trigger a bulb failure message or cause flickering? Thanks

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  Год назад

      I haven't used these in a Volvo. But overall Auxbeam does make a great bulb and haven't found any issues with their bulbs flickering on other vehicle's I've installed them in.

      @@4DIYers I installed F15 series and I am getting the low beam failure message on my 09 Volvo C30. The bulbs are working fine.
