    Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis will always be my "Indy 4."

      It is too bad they never made a 4th Indiana Jones movie, oddly enough skipped that number altogether and we're getting 5 now :D

    I played this game as a child and finished the team path. It was quite nice playing it for a long time, even if some of the puzzles were difficult, eventually it was very satisfying solving them. I do consider this game as Indy 4, though we have now "4" and "5". If you're interested, I made an orchestral rendition of the game's music and uploaded it to my channel, you could find it in my playlists.

    I played this as a kid and fairly recently. I enjoyed just as much now as I did then, though I think I had an easier time getting through the wits path as an adult. I absolutely made maps of the mazes. With older games there was an expectation that you would make notes. If you're interested in the story more than the gameplay, there is a comic book adaptation of Fate of Atlantis by Dark Horse. I'd love to see a remake of this game that keeps the puzzle elements, but beefs up the action.

    IMO it has aged quite well (except for the Wits path) but it has aged nonetheless, as with most graphic adventures of its time. And as mazes go, old school dungeon crawlers without automaps are worse!

      Everything with the exception of the maze puzzles is absolutely top notch, and in fact I spend MOST of the video talking about those things, but the sheer number of mazes simply outweighed everything else for me, and took away my enjoyment of the title overall. The game is great, the mazes are sheit! Thanks for watching!

    I haven't played this game in years. But the last time I played it I remember quitting halfway. For some reason it wasn't clicking with me.

    "Indiana Jones and the Frustration of Atlantis" is the best Jackass movie in existence.
    Change my mind.

    I hate to be the pedant, but did you just say when you get to Atlantis the rooms are randomised, and then told us to make a map?
    "Backtracking to get items you already used to solve puzzles isn't a thing in modern design either. They were 30 years ago..." THE GAME IS ABOUT 30 YEARS OLD! You're going to criticse a game mechanic that was all the rage 30 years ago, in a 30-year-old game??
    I've no idea why you felt the need to make this video. Especially since you didn't even touch upon the (seemingly) random arrangement of the moon/sun/world stones in the middle of the game. THAT was something I would have been interested in hearing.

    • @StefaNonsense
      @StefaNonsense  Год назад

      1. The rooms are randomized at the start of the playthrough, they will stay the same throughout said playthrough, so making a map is a good idea.
      2. The game is EXACTLY 30 years old, that is the point of the video. Stuff that was great 30, 20, etc. years ago, may not always hold up, regardless what one's nostalgia goggles show. Many times it does, and I say so when that is the case.
      3. The stone arrangements I don't think are random, however, even if they were, all the solutions are in Plato's Lost Dialogue.
      Thanks for watching and commenting!

    good vid about a classic game.
    if i may offer a criticism, your sound effects are super loud, like the "whoosh" and "ding" sound. i don't think they should be louder than your voice, tbh.

    • @StefaNonsense
      @StefaNonsense  Год назад +1

      I appreciate the feedback. Sound fidelity does matter a fair bit on the tech you're using, but it shouldn't, from my perspective as the editor - in the past I would lower the volume a bit too much, I guess in this one I might've overcompensated :)

    • @StefaNonsense
      @StefaNonsense  Год назад +1

      Not necessarily but as far as I'm concerned, it could've done with considerably fewer mazes. The Outer Ring of Atlantis is the only one that really has story- and world-relevance.
