Honestly it’s just not strong enough to kill if you don’t use reversals, it’s already hard for most people to do reversals constantly, even harder on triple rod because of it’s tiny hitbox.
The first stab does 8 damage, just like the Saber, and it has better reach and multidrectional inputs. Against an enemy comfortably in saber reach, sure, the aerial slash is better. Enemies above you often aren't in reach of a reversal due to how the air slash works.

I’ve always really liked the Triple Rod, and this run sheds a lot of light on its crazy potential. Zero 1 is definitely quite overhated in some cases, yeah the ranking system has some issues and the reusing of stages sucks but it’s got a lot in its favor too. It clearly did at least a good amount of things right, or else it wouldn’t have spawned such an awesome series (ZX included). Amazing run, looking forward to whatever you may do in the future.

Thanks for remaking this series Magnus, i recently started to play again mmz1 and oh boy, thanks to you i play better than the last time 2 years ago when i first played this game.
I dont think i have ever been so jealous in my life even more so since the zero series is my favorite of the entire mega man series yet im garbo at them. The amount of skill on display here is crazy. I bet that Z Chasers mode on a zero/ZX collection was a piece of cake for you. I have not been able to do it till this day and its the one trophy keeping me from platinum trophy the collection

@Magnus Zero what would you recommend to a beginner who may want to get into speedrunning a Mega Man Zero game, I know you don't necessarily speedrun these games, but I want to know because I loved the Mega Man Zero games and want to take that love for them a bit farther than in the past, if you could tell me how to start that would be wonderful. Thank you so much anyways for your amazing content.
Hey Magnus, I know there's nothing to do with u but, is X Maverick Hunter runs TAS? I once read a comment saying that it was but I never felt like it was before. Thanks in advance in case u see the comment and thx for the compilation!
Don't believe or take any of those comments seriously. It's just people who don't know what TAS even is, and look for an excuse to claim he's playing illegitimately when they don't understand the techniques he use, nor try to understand. They think TAS is some external cheating program when it's far from that. It just stands for Tool-Assisted Speedrun, which is using emulation tools like save states in conjunction with the built-in recorder the emulator has to rewind mistakes when they happen, in order to get perfect execution. Like me, XMH records his runs stage-by-stage. He just edits the clips together in a longplay style. Other than the thumbnails sometimes having "speedrun" in them for the sake of clicks, he never claims his runs are done in real-time. When you're recording stage-by-stage, there's literally no reason to do TAS when you can retry an individual stage as much as you'd like anyway. These people have no ground to stand with their misinformed claims, and lack the brain cells to do just 5 minutes of research on google to learn what I just typed out for you here. The only thing I could see XMH can do to stop all these BS claims against him is to simply put disclaimers in his videos that his runs are segmented and edited, because 99% of his fanbase will miss his comment replies to people who asked about it. When I've done my own compilations like this one, my disclaimer always stops that nonsense in its tracks before it can begin, so if he could do that, this would stop.
Not yet. A remastered run of Zero 2 was in the works, but a bunch of delays happened. I still have the original runs I did for Zero 2-4 on my channel in playlists, though. The Z2 run kinda sucks (to me) because of the Active Form restriction, but the Z3 and Z4 runs have at least aged decently if you want to check those out. I actually have those two in movie format as well.
@@MagnusZero i will definitely be checking them out. definitely subscribing there is good stuff here. hopefully the Z2 remaster comes out at some point
it’s to earn full points for enemy kills - Z1 in particular doesn’t have enough enemies in their levels to meet these requirements without having to respawn some of them
Magnus, I have a question I wanted to ask for some time. How do you record the footage? I know you use an emulator, but do you record it fullscreen then resize it for the video? Or do you record it smaller than the screen and crop out the empity space to put the background later? I thought you could've been using OBS for the backgrounds but seeing the movie version I think that's unlikely. I'll starting recording some GBA gameplay and was thinking what's the best option (talking about presentation). I think the easiest way would be simply recording it fullscreen and cropping the black bars at the sides but I noticed you usually let the backgound surrounding the entire game window, not only the sides. Is that a matter of aesthetics or is there something else to it? Thank you in advance.
