It would be kinda of cool if realigning the geomantic web allowed you to alter the terrain classification of settlements based on the proximity and strength of the web. Mazdamundi is really fun to play at! Him on Zlaaq charging at blobs and throwing Comets around has been one of my most fun campaings in IE. Also, an interesting trick: if you can take Skeggi fast enough (or just keep them at bay in a single region) it is possible to conquer the region just north of them, occupied by Morathi's starting enemies (the red Dark Elves whose name I forgot). If you do it, Morathi is going to value it so much that you can sign a defensive alliance with her right off the bat by exchanging it to her. It was so unexpected and fun playing an entire game with her as my most powerful and trusted ally 😂
Wait, you've essentially turned Mazdamundi into Jabba the Hutt, but with Morathi instead of Princess Lea by your side - a bold interpretation of the lore, but I kinda dig it xD
It's worth noting too that CA has acknowledge that the Lizardmen are one of the factions that need a fairly major rework after Norsca. I would expect Norsca to get a major one first, then for the Lizardmen to be worked on.
Hopefully they do a pack of norsca and lizardmen together, since they're both TWW2 launch factions (Just norsca happened to get put into tww1 as hype generation pre-sale bonus)
Mazdamundi has a special place in my heart because he was my first-ever campaign with TWW. Eye of the Vortex was a decent slog, but ultimately really fun when I came back to it after a month or two. Honestly, one thing I noticed is that Hexoatl is meant to be a big money pot; it'd be nice if Mazdamundi's campaign effects were centered around making the Lizardmen economy good. If his temple guard buff either made them stronger in his army or cheaper for everyone, that'd be great.
Another thing to note with Mazdamundi is the red climate to the north. It makes things slightly harder to deal with Ssildra Tor and/or Morathi when they inevitably pick a fight with you.
Don't forget the Dark Elves on the west coast of Lustria if you're pushing south, you will get into contact with them around the time you meet Markus. Rakarth WILL wardec you at his earliest convenience. And once Morathi is done with Sildra Tor she can also wardec you at any point. Been doing Mazdamundi for the last week, glad I ignored Lizardmen woes and went at it. Currently bout to hit turn 100 and has been the most fun campaign I've had in Immortal Empires. I just love Lustria for some reason. Manage to avoid war with Markus and team up with Tyrion to defeat Morathi and sail a good boy down to rescue Tehenhauin from Skaven and now in an intense war on two distant fronts with a leveled Kairos and a very large Naggarond Empire. Reference for the curious: I've done, both Cathay, Kislev, Nurgle, Luthor, Markus, Settra, Taurox, Malekith, and Daniel so far.
Indeed, very forgettable campaign and lord mechanics for the most powerful spellcaster in Warhammer (who was taught by Kroak). In 6th edition, only he had access to the Lore of Geomancy as it was said that no other being had the capacity to master it.
Mazdamundi is the first campaign I've tried for TW2, and I've found it pretty challenging, primarily as I'm surrounded by enemies. Its challenging to clear off the Skeggi from the peninsula when both the Skaven and the vampires to the north are ready to pounce at all times. I can believe he's not the "most fun" lizardmen campaign but at this point I feel I need to finish one with him. May pick up TW3 just to get the complete experience
I think ruination of cities is a pretty damn powerful spell, especially as a bound spell. I’ve seen it completely delete entire swaths of the enemy elite core. But, I’ve also seen it delete my own units if I cast it wrong too. Personally, Mazdamundi is my favorite campaign in the game overall.
From what I remember, his main issues are them being T4 makes it hard for them to be useful as if you're T4 you can get Stegadons and other better units. The other issue is that unless they've changed this, it takes 2 turns to recruit them, which is not great when melee units likely need to be replaced pretty regularly due to taking on casualties.
In my eyes Mazdamundi's best thing is he is (semi)free... Which is also a problem, because with him you get Gor'Rok, Kroq'Gar and Tiqtaq'To, who are better because of starting positions and faction mechanics...
Yeeey! My favourite froggy got a review! I love his campaigh, but I really like lizardmen overall, which together with Kislev and Tomb Kings are my favourite faction. I've always found his campaign to be challenging at the beggining, but later on it gets a bit easier for me.
My campaign was weird- lots of high elf allies [sent out a skink chief scout to meet people to trade with]. I didn't know about trading settlements yet so I had razed a bunch of Morathi's cities to protect my north which then meant easy settling for those allies. By the time I made it south Itza and the Brett Lord were friendly with each other, so I allied up with them as well.
The frustrating thing for Mazdamundi in game 3 is the AI Lizardman legendary lords are doing well in general, especially those down in south Lustria, which is a pain in ass when you trying to confederate them.
Theres 1 high elf faction (i think tiranoc) it says you have positivr history as you gave them a gift. I gave them another small gift early and all the high elves started trading with me and allied. Not the best tip in the world but it helps. Maz just needs flavour, he's basically just a 2nd gen. Also i wonder what he cast instead of apotheosis before the lizardmen met the high elves lol
also everything immediately north of 'fallen gates' is unsuitable climate, so build walls there and the special building (which gives 3 temple guard garrison). fallen gates has a very sizable garrison then to hold off the dark elves who will declare war on you. so you can just focus on expanding into lustria. And try your best to remain friends with the high elves, They are a huge headache with a constant stream of armies from ulthuan -> hexoatl if they decide to come for you for whatever reason. Like I was friends with tyrion and then Yvresse declared on me, and Tyrion/avelorn soon followed.
Hi, great vid man, all this campaign reviews made me wanna go back to playing this game, but I'm thinking about upgrading my pc first, what would you guys recommend, I have GTX 1070, i3-10th and 16gb RAM?
Played a Mazdamundi campaign recently on very hard. I tried to stay neutral with Morathi via bribes for long enough that I could sort out Skeggi, Blue Vipers, New World Colonies and had built up my economy enough to afford two solid to good armies (i.e., at least some Stegadons with Slann, Skink Priest, and Saurus Scar Veteran support). Fortified my Southern border, declared war on Morathi, conquered her two provinces, and sold it all off to the High Elves for a metric shit ton of money; you just have to give them the opportunity to conquer one DE settlement so you can sell them regions connected to their territory. That makes you BFFs with the HE, and creates a nice buffer between you and the DE (their territory is basically worthless to you anyways). Have fun conquering/confederating Lustria!
Hoping to see an Immortal Empires Campaign Review for Azhag, despite how lacking in variety he has in enemies since it's mostly just Kislev, Empire, Dwarves, and Greenskins right off the rip. At least there's plenty of room to expand via confederation early like Grimgor has.
His campaign was my favorite of the Lizardmen. Its crazy to have to death with Morathi but what I did is essentially hold a defense on the south, kill Morathi, and gift her settlements to the high elves for treaties. Then with the northern borders secure, turn my attention towards the south (probably around turn 40), and dominate. Mazdamundi feels so satisfying on a stegadon and with the shield and comet of cassandra he's a 1 man doomstack. Easily was getting 1000 kills a battle with him
I feel like Legend often says something like, "Which I'll get back to" or "I'll talk about that later" and then never does. In this video specifically about the Temple Guards.
We have suggested to CA multiple times that they rename the Slaan generations. Mazdamundi is one of only 3 known second generation Slaan remaining. Even third gens are becoming relatively rare now. They really should rename the ones you awaken randomly as 4th 5th and 6th gens. I dont know why they wont change it, just some simple alterations in the database its not like its a huge change to do, but it does make the lore all messed up for no reason.
I like the aspect of TW how can bend lores. Some imperial nerds ill tell me that my tank doomstack is not lore friendly because there are AcTUaLy only 10 tanks in lore...
How does this addition of Yuan Bo affect this campaign? He's strong and tends to ally with Markus very quickly, so I imagine it makes things much harder.
What are the races that defenitly need a rework ? I feel like quite alot of them need atleast a big polished overhaul , for me on top are Dwarfes and Lizardmen , but Vampire Coast and Kislev aswell , although i feel like , that Kislev was left unfinished on purpose , to later get Dlcs to finish the faction. Maybe Empire ? I feel like this weird faction mechanic just make the Campaigns worse.
A good start is to skip through his older campaign VODs of a LL you are interested in and see what points he put. Aside from Lightning Strike and some spells, not that much has changed with skills compared to WH2, so even those videos (if there isn't a WH3 version by Legend yet) can give you some guidance if you know nothing about TWWH.
Somewhat, but in terms of gameplay, there's already reason enough to play the lorewise main faction leaders. If they also had the best mechanics/powers, other lords would be regarded as nothing more than filler.
Its funny how temple guards, lorewise one of the strongest units there should be in any faction, are mediocre. Unless you play SFO. Temple guards are nuts in SFO
I love Mazdamundi as a character (big psychic frog guy made me want to buy WHII) but his campaign has always sucked. Wish temple guards were better too.
I've never been terribly impressed by Mazdamundi's spell list. It just doesn't synergise very well with anything the Lizardmen do. He's got a heal but it's the worst one, he's got a direct damage but it's the worst one, he's got net but lizardmen have nothing to exploit that with, and even when he gets an unambiguously good thing like Comet he's almost no better at doing it than any random skink priest (and in WH2 he was no better). It'd almost be better if he was just a loremaster of High Magic (which there aren't any of).
Very informative video. Never did a campaign as the Lizardmen, so this helps with deciding what to do. However, I think that about half of your video could be cut. As I commented on a previous video of yours, the earlier campaign reviews that you did were 'primers' on the campaign. They told you roughly what the campaign entailed, if it was fun, what the mechanics were and so on, and did so in roughly 3 minutes. You've slowly expanded upon this with a discussion on how to best start this campaign and some pitfalls. That's personally not something I'm looking for in a campaign review. That information belongs in a format you did earlier: the "first 10 turns" and "first 20 turns" videos. If I want to know if a campaign is fun, I don't need to know the optimal start for it. Suboptimal campaign performance is "part of the story" of your campaign. Personally, I either skip or zone out during that part, and wait until you start talking about the way the campaign works. All in all, it's still a good video and I enjoyed watching it, and I look forward to seeing more in the future.
This is because literally hundreds of people (by upvotes on comments, which arenta perfect metric but do keep people from making the same comment over and over) have asked him to pad them out and talk about the experience of the campaign, of which only the first 20ish turns are reliably similar every game. He changed the way he discusses these because we asked him to change them. If you dont believe me, i'll go back a few videos in this series to find the comment I made thanking him for making them longer with a few hundred upvotes and some positive comments on it. Edit: went back and found it anyway out of curiosity. Its the Snikch campaign review.
If they haven't changed this, you can only get her via confederating the Heralds of Ariel. If they're dead they can be revived by simply inciting a rebellion at their tree
This felt like a fairly generous review for the clearly worst lizardman campaign. Mazda doesn't have any real unique identity or units or anything, besides being a slaan on a stegadon. A second gen life slaan is going to out perform Mazda as a caster. Mazda does not buff or specialize in any unit, even Nakai has more buffs for temple guard. Every Lord can get access to Kroak who is also a better caster.
Honestly a pretty brutal campaign in my opinion. Not necessarily because it's hard, but because it's annoying. You are literally surrounded by enemies at the start of your campaign. Pretty much everyone around you hates you and fighting Morathi is a pain because of the red climate. Personally I don't find the campaign very enjoyable to play
my least favourite lizard campaign....it's always the same....go south because it's green...defend fallen gates easily. After south then doughnut then north. He's also boring on the battlefield because he's big and slow, the AI just attempts lord sniping at their own detriment, but makes it a boring battle.... on the whole don't recommend
base game lords tend to do that unfortunately., while DLC lords get all the cool stuff Tyrion vs Eltharion for example. I'm at least glad they're going back and fixing the old ones with updates. I'm excited to play tww3 once they patch it up a bit and get everything up to speed.

I noticed the same thing in the Kostaltyn guide from a few days ago
he never got to why he doesn't like temple guard in the video lol
probably because there is better option, such as stegadon stacj.
its more about the 2 turn recruitment duration for a melee unit
4:50 But he did, in fact
not get into it, even a little bit
Legendoftotalwarhere 🎉
I would watch a whole livestream of koqgar.
gor-rok
Hey just to point out you never did say what your problem with Temple Guards are lol
lol
I love this mobility scooter
ITZA while before you meet any friends.
see what you did there
Rakarth next maybe?
So, about the Temple Guards.....
You never said what was wrong with temple guard
Place review the campaigns in lustria like gorak and tehenhauin. Or you know. The others.
honestly I want all of the multi type legendary lords to have acess to the whole spell list like vlad.
You forgot to explain the problem with Temple gaurds....
bringing back normal content soon?
Its funny how temple guards, lorewise one of the strongest units there should be in any faction, are mediocre. Unless you play SFO. Temple guards are nuts in SFO
MORE LIZARDS 🎉🎉🎉
But what about the temple guard
How does slanesh corrupt the lizardmen? There is no known lizardwomen in lore
Yeah but lizards have two penises, and its already easy enough to corrupt beings who only have one.
Pride and obsession. It isn't always about sex.
and when you finally get to itza you realize it's all taken over by Clan Pestilens..
I would really like if you showed the first two battles and how you’d fight them for each of these videos
And he never explained his problem with temple guard
3:16 "It's a down here"
It's a what? What Legend? A what?
Do Alarielle The Everqueen please :)
Good. Dinos are best
Thicc Lizard Boi #1
These need to be longer, shouldn't take people's opinions as defacto without reasoning behind them.
Can someone tell me how to get Ariel in immortal empires for Orion?
If they haven't changed this, you can only get her via confederating the Heralds of Ariel. If they're dead they can be revived by simply inciting a rebellion at their tree
This felt like a fairly generous review for the clearly worst lizardman campaign. Mazda doesn't have any real unique identity or units or anything, besides being a slaan on a stegadon. A second gen life slaan is going to out perform Mazda as a caster. Mazda does not buff or specialize in any unit, even Nakai has more buffs for temple guard. Every Lord can get access to Kroak who is also a better caster.
🐸🐸🐸
I prefer playing Gor-Rok and confederating Mazdamundi.
But I didn’t order a pizza…. 🤔
good stuff as always mate enjoyed your khorne stream yesterday much respect :)
Kostaltyn
Don't do Boris next. Anyone but Boris!
Mazda might be the most boring of the Lizardmen lords.
base game lords tend to do that unfortunately., while DLC lords get all the cool stuff Tyrion vs Eltharion for example.
I'm at least glad they're going back and fixing the old ones with updates. I'm excited to play tww3 once they patch it up a bit and get everything up to speed.
😂
Idk why but I just hate Mazdamundi for no good reason.
