Replacing the Fuel Pumps - ‘88 Ford Bronco II
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 сен 2024
- Alright guys, today Pop, Greg, and Jordan installed both of the new fuel pumps on the Bronco II. In 1988 the Bronco II has one on the rail and one in the tank. It runs ok for about 10 mins, then it starts to run like crap. I think the TFI ignition module is going out. Have a Blessed Day and Stay Tuned!

I have a 1985 and a 1990 Bronco II here. I did the in tank pump in the 90 in about 15 minutes by pulling up some carpet, cutting a square hole out of the floor above the pump. swapping it, and then tacking the panel back in and seam sealing it shut. All done from above. Your way is the proper one though. Good parts for these are getting harder to find.
05Mil Machine yea, I really considered that, lol.
Heard of people doing that for their chevy trucks and blazers. On my s10, the first pump we removed the tank which i had just filled when pump failed! And the 2nd time-91,000 miles later, i helped remove the bed. Bed easier...had truck not gotten peeled, wuda cuts hole in bed if done again...
wow that’s an idea!
Hell I just appreciate a decent HD video on how to replace the pumps would like to see more on the bronco2 on future Videos thanks a lot !!!!
Thanks man!
Thank you very much indeed.i have an 88 ranger.there are lots of vids on removing the gas tank
But you showed how to disconnect the electrical plug and the fuel lines in detail.
When the tank is hanging down your lying under it..your arms are bent out of shape.
That is literally GOLD.. thank you.
Thank you!
I wish I had access to a lift when you get old you get tired of crawling around on the ground.
Way easier to remove the little plastic piece first if you open the trunk. Then it eliminates the need to pull off the bumper to remove the skid plate for the gas tank. You should then be able to remove the bolts to the front of it and the back drops down with a bit of wiggling. After you loosen the bolts to the fill hose for the gas tank. Then you can remove the front side clips to the gas tank and leave the back by the bumper connected and the tank slides out like a peach. Thanks for a good video on fuel pump replacement guys!
Very true, we found that out after, hahaha.
I’m having an issue on my 87 b2 with an 88 engine in it. Keeps bogging down around 3,000 rpm. Doesn’t matter the gear but it’s just for a second.. Already replaced tps but still having issues. Not sure if should do the fuel filter and pump. Any thoughts?
I think Ethanol was purposely formulated to eat rubber, especially in older vehicles.
It always amazes me when someone say I’m a ford guy or Chevy guy … like there’s any difference? In name only.
I just hand to replace the fuel pump on my 88 K5 blazer and it’s almost the exact same process, gas tank fuel mounts exactly like it , the gas tank straps are the same, the skid plate is the same… I had to remove the rear bumper as well to get acces to the fuel tank and it boosts exactly the same way as my Chevy. Lmfao 😂
Dang guys, you gave me the heebie jeebies by not at least brushing the crub off the tank before removing the pump
Used Car Driver yea, we should have, we ended up vacuuming it before we put the new one in, but the bottom of the tank looked pretty rough anyways, lol.
@@HiRevzMedia just bought one of these, super cheap, and a little rough on the inside, but the body is clean as a whistle. Looking forward to doing videos on my channel about it. No worries about that, I've already done worse my my videos too. One thing I'm mad about is I clipped my f'in radio antenna line thinking it was a vacuum hose I could throw a connector on when I was done lol.
Used Car Driver lol, dang man.
I have an 84 broncoii good thing mine has a manual pump on the engine but mine sat for a long time so I'm gonna replace the sending unit in the tank
GPH on the pump ?? Which shoukd it be originally?
Its probably the fuel pressure regulator, Its a few things on those trucks that will make them run or idle funny, like the idle control sensor are map sensor, it has about 4 or 5 parts on it that will cause it to not idle or run right beside the norm like fuel pump or filter or vacuum problems, most of the time its one of those parts that controls the fuel or idle, but all the parts are super easy to replace, once u get familiar with how to diagnose the problem on those trucks, they will run like a tank, good solid made trucks, oh and keep the oil changed regular on those trucks cause they are known for the oil pump going out on them, i think its more of the oil pick up tube bad design where they clog and burn out the pump, them are just some common problems i wanted u to know about.
Fred Bennett thanks man, yea, I’ve actually replaced a pretty good bit of other sensors and things on it leading up to this video, but I did not include that as part of the video.
@@HiRevzMedia it can be a puzzle sometimes on those, u welcome
I have the same year bronco. TFI and PPI have been the biggest issue with these ignition systems ford put out . We changed the Distributor. Work like a charm
That’s awesome!
Did you ever think about lifting up the rug and cutting an access hatch like some Chevrolets and other fords have? Then you can reach the pump without removing the tank and then a peice of sheet metal a gasket and some self tapping screws to seal it before putting the rug back. Makes future work a little easier.
We had an 87 years ago and never could get it running right it would die going down the road we took it to several people and nothing. We sold it lol. Now 25 years later im about to get another one that needs fuel pumps replaced lol
That sounds like the ignition module problem. We have a video on that too.
you are doing it wrong. You should cut through the trunk floor metal and drill through the gas tank, throw away the bumper and get you a band or hack saw and cut the drive shaft and the frame too easy access. I cut 2 access panels in my trucks hood for quick oil and coolant level check. Lol
Thank you guys for actually showing something useful and for not cutting your way to pumps ive seen some pretty disturbing bronco ii videos before i came across this. Thank you
87 bronco 11 2,9 L V 6 have 2 new fuel pumps gas not going to pressure Gage any body now
So; Was it the TFI ?
Yea, check out the next video in this series.
Next time you dont have to take off drive shaft just flip it on its side. Move towards the take and it slides out between the shaft and floor 😅
you needed to replace that fuel tank while you had it out
ronnie King agreed, I wish I had bought one and had it there.
i have an 88 xlt 5 speed i have about got all the bugs out
ronnie King heck yea, awesome man. What all have you had to do to it?
Wish southerns never came up with ethanol it sucks
I do greatly appreciate the content because I have a 1987 Bronco that I am restoring. But the video doesn't really do any help LOL.. camera work😅
We've done all the same but can't get it to run. It will start with starting fluid but dies quickly. Any ideas?
Cammie Garrison has your distributor been removed. It may be 180 out.
No none if that was touched.
Sounds very simple, you gotta check you have everything needed like Spark/Fuel/Air ,you're missing something really simple If she starts but won't keep running
MAP sensor
How big is the tank? I've got an 87 Bronco II and the tank is identical to your tank but I can't get more than 10 gallons in it. I checked the evap canister and lines and they are all good but the tank doesn't reach the 23 gallons it is listed to hold. Plus I only get about 120 miles to the tank.
This one holds a bunch of gas. At least over 20 gallons.
What's the fuel pump on the rail called?
Regulator
That's a crappy kit when they don't include the needed specialty spanner wrench.
How are yo u I'm going to film you put in a pump in that was the point of the video
If u have any parts you want to sell please let me know.
fix it by throwing it in the trash/scrap yard
I promise you that you need to replace the fuel tank as well plus the filter. All the crap in the tank is gonna seriously limit the life of those pumps.
Hell I just appreciate a decent HD video on how to replace the pumps would like to see more on the bronco2 on future Videos thanks a lot !!!!
