- Culture shocked in China as an American. I was shocked to learn about Chinese culture. it is very different from the culture in the states and i share three things that were very interesting and shocking to someone that grew up in good old Michigan, USA.
One more: women holding hands walking down the street, in China it's just a sign of friendship, in the west people probably think they must be gays in love with each other.
i saw that last night! It was a mom and her daughter in Da Nang.

I love Chinese culture and history but the visa fees for US citizens are CRIMINAL! $200 for 30 days. :(.

Everyone in the country (國家/ nation family) is a member of the family - hence, the familial titles.
And we fight to give money to each other's child during the new year holidays.
