Just amazed that he can produce all that great sound with just one finger and a thumb. Great to see the young lad playing good music from the days of great music.
My first guitar was a Stella . My step dad saw it in a dumpster and he brought it home to me -that was 65 years ago . I’ve had a hundred guitars since then but my heart will always belong to Stella- She steered me right and I’m still playing today at 77- I think I would trade all my guitars for 1 last night with that little red Stella …….😢
In the last few weeks I have listened to this repeatedly. The guitar tone and vocals are on point and this video has warmed my soul and inspired me . Excellent job and thank you for sharing your talent and skill ❤
Cheers! Yeah these old Schmidt Stellas are little powerhouses, this one came to me needing fully rebuilt, I'd never had a guitar where every single brace including the bridge plate was loose until this one showed up, so it's had the works done, I'm trying to sell it but having fun with it until it does.
You're spot on brother. This fella is just great! Iplaybanjonow (Christine P) did a version of this on you tube a few years ago, but it was taken down, unfortunately. Great tune!
This is a great version, could you do a lesson please? There is nothing online only the Rev Gary Junior and Keith Richards version. I love this version!
Do you have a band Mr Alex Kirtley ?. - Have a cigar, -You can be hell of a star - You play and sing awesome.... Absolutely perfect : ) Im playing your song every day : ) Thank you so much for sharing. - This old guitar sounds perfect !
You get an amazing tone from that guitar! Stellas I'm familiar with. They're usually not reknown for their superior sonic qualities. Oscar Schmidt Stella: what's that and who's that.
This is my favorite version of this song, a lesson would be awesome Edit: Just found a lesson by David Bromberg which this cover is based on, lol. If anyone wants the lesson, look up "David Bromberg teaches "Cocaine Blues"" on RUclips.
“If the …… was a devil without any horns he must’ve been a furniture man?” I need to know the rest of this line. lol. It’s already good and I’m assuming can only get better with completion

Awesome playing and singing. That Stella is SWEEEEEEEET :-)
You really nailed the swinging ragtime tempo, and with just two fingers a la Gary Davis.
2 fingers very rare and I love it. 😂
Merle Travis, and Paul McCartney (Blackbird) used 2 fingers !🤏
Doc Watson also used only 2 fingers. @@roenvalenzuela2492
Don't ever sell that guitar. If you do, sell it to me. ❤️🎸. Nice playing.

A lovely mix of rawness and sweet in the vocals. The playing is impeccable! Is it a "hard"guitar to play? All the best from Sweden
Excellent, great song, great playing

What key is this in? Do you have a chord chart stashed away anywhere? Awesome work!
He’s playing in G position capoed up, mostly G-E7-A7-D7-G. There are occasional B7 and C chords thrown in on the verses and transitions.
I got one of those on eBay for $30. Still has the note stencil over the fretboard. Super cool.
Id love a tutorial please!
