  • Sorry for all the tears but I just want to keep everything on this page as authentic as possible. I am struggling with some of these challenges and feelings of regret and I just hope this video will find someone who needs it and needs to know they aren't alone in this recovery. I feel very vulnerable posting this and that's okay. In the weirdest way letting myself cry and just let everything out on camera really helped me so I'm grateful for that. love you guys. thanks for all the support ♡

I am 2 weeks out for a bone fusion in my foot. You have nailed the recovery process down. No other doctor info or patient info has been as honest and real as you. The mental health aspect of a long term recovery is legit. Thank you.

I watched this video when I had the same surgery and it was my best company. I played college basketball and both of my ankles were really bad. I made the decision to just have one surgery and everything went well, I started playing again very quickly and everything was fine. Unfortunately, on my other foot, which I did not have surgery on, one day while training, I fell badly and I thought I had sprained it, but no, due to the lack of ligaments, the bone had completely come out and my foot was completely turned over. "Luckily" I didn't fracture, but this situation will possibly keep me from playing. Even if it didn't seem like it at the time, you made the right decision. Cheers to everyone who is going through this. It is better to wait a little now and be able to be a healthy and sporty person in due time, than to no longer be able to walk.

I'm following your story. I'm 4 weeks post OP today. Being 57, I'm much older, but share so much. I too feel regret. Today was my 1st day allowed to start weight bearing in my tall boot using a walker. The pain I'm feeling is hurts like a bitch. I had an emotional breakdown after those 1st few steps. I'm happy I found you and your journey. I will continue watching all your videos. Thank you!

The "Symphony of Pain" is the only way I can describe the nerve, physical and emotional pain in my surgical recovery. It is so good to know others are on the roller coaster.

      Thank you !!!!!!!!💕🙏💕🙏💕👍💕👍💛❣️💛🎈☝️☝️☝️😥
I am an athlete also my passion was dancing ( at 15 off Broadway musicals, mtv videos blah blah blah ) since 3 year's of age. Also I became certified for personal training after I was told my lower back pain was Due to being born with flat feet. While dancing 40 hours a week, going to school and part time working.
I also found that being an athlete has its limits. ( I didn't listen) I picked up jogging ( duh 🙄 no one said anything that dancers should NEVER JOG? ) SO... that added to already disfunction to my disfunction. Has all my tendons rupture in my shoulder ( had a GSD that weighted 100 lbs I'm only 115lbs.) Ran me into a 20" pole downhill chasing another dog 🐕 had SCR surgery still in rehab for that still have 7 months to go. To blow out my peronial tendons outside out ? So I'm at 4.5 week's in after arthroscopic ruptured ankle tendon repair in the walking boot 👢 😳 I've been crying 😢 everything 😢 just hurts like being in a visce and shoulder pain is back from crutches and knee scooter 😢 2 surgeries 7 mo apart. I'm 53 . Just said to myself??? I'm done ✔️ 🙂 HOWEVER ? I FOUND THIS VIDEO 📹 OF YOU SAYING ALLLLLLL OF HOW I FEEL TODAY🥲🥲🥲
I cried TEARS OF JOY 😊 SEEING YOU BEING HONEST ABOUT ANKLE SURGERY!!! YOU HELPED ME MORE THAN YOU THOUGHT 😘 ☺️ ❤️ 😉 🙂 😌 😘 ☺️ ❤️ I ALSO SEE 👀 YOU HAVE MORE HAPPY VIDEOS 📹 😊 😀 OF MOVING ON. YES! THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME HOPES FOR THE FUTURE!!!!! MAY GOD-BLESS YOU ALWAYS !!! 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗

I'm 57 too. 2 big dogs slammed into me from behind at a dog park. Broke ankle tibia and fibula
I'm on day 6. I had surgery the day it happened. So depressing.

Hi there, I'm in week 6 post op and going through exactly the same things you shared. All my friends and family are being sweet with me, but they can't understand of course my pains, regrets, fears etc. and I feel sometimes extremely lonely and frustrated. Most of the times I'm terrified thinking what if I can't do things I really love anymore like trekking. I feel useless, worthless, and completely lost. This video is so genuinely rare and precious it makes me believe I'm not alone, this phase is part of the game, and I will get through it eventually as you did. Thank you very much. I can focus on my recovery now. I will come watch it again when I feel weak again. I wish you all the best.

I just discovered your videos. I’m 52. I fell and broke my ankle/tib/fib 6 weeks ago and had surgery 5 weeks ago. I cry and cry and cry. I have pain in places I didn’t even know I had. The lack of sleep because of the pain is so awful. Being sooo alone at night while in pain is terrifying and exhausting. The pain. The swelling from just taking a shower or doing a couple of dishes. Feeling like a new star on my 600 lb life… thank you so much for sharing your experience. This has given me so much reassurance. I hope you are doing great these days. ❤

I'm 4 wks post op and have been ok ...but feel like I'm falling apart now. I've realized I NEED my workouts for my inner strength and sanity. I've had other surgeries but this is the hardest mentally and physically. I postponed it 8 months and currently regret my decision.
Hope things improve. Thank you for letting me know I'm not alone!

This coming Friday I'll be 5 weeks post op and I'm crying with you. I feel everything you speak of. Though this video 3 years ago.
The first week was hell, the last 2 days I'm in incredible intermittent pain, not sure why, it its the nerves and mucles firing back up but the pain is unbearable. I hate being this cry baby but this is a physical and emotional rollercoaster and I've never been so afraid almost daily. I'm so afraid for when I have to start physio and weight bearing and now have anxiety at 51 yrs old😢. Thank you for this video, it helps somewhat that I'm not alone in this. I truly hope you have done a update video since are are doing well, I guess I just need some good news to look forward to for 2024. 😞

Thank you for this. I am much older than you and have always been conscientious about keeping strong and agile and active. I have been trying to stay optimistic, don’t want to further burden my husband with my needs, but privately I have been in despair. The possibility of becoming an older person with mobility issues is devastating. I think the emotional aspect of this horrible situation can only be appreciated if you have ‘walked in those shoes.’ Like so much of the details of this situation, if it weren’t for you and others who have shared their experience, it would truly be like solitary confinement. So thank you for this.

Thank you for being honest. I know it’s years later but even to this day I don’t feel like people are honest about their recovery from this surgery. There aren’t many, if any, other vlogs about the whole recovery and people on Instagram make is seems so incredibly easy. I’d prefer to see the worst side of it, and have it be easier than expected, than the other way around

Hope you’re doing better now ! I’m 1 month post ORIF for a trimalleolar ankle fracture. For me the journey has been more mental than physical. Watching your video has made me appreciate my circumstance and be grateful, i’m not in professional sport so I can imagine you must feel 10x more restless. Best advice i could give is to meditate, your energy is going towards healing/maintenance so try to meditate or even play relaxing sounds when you go to sleep. You got this tho ! xx Appreciate the content

This speaks to me so much. At this point, five weeks after my surgery, my ankle swells significantly and hurts a lot when I try to perform exercises to regain my range of motion. I understand that maintaining optimism during the recovery process when leading an active lifestyle is very challenging, but watching your videos about your recovery process really helps me to do so. I hope to soon be able to resume my active lifestyle.

Thank you for the raw honesty. I am 3 weeks post opt, feels like 3 months. Next week I get my stitches out. I am 62 years old and in my younger years I did the same sports as you damaging both ankles over and over. Bothered with pain in ankles and feet all my life. Then 5 months ago my tendon across ankle ruptured pushing me into surgery Feb. 23rd. Just as your doctor , mine cleaned all the trash (he called it), repaired all the ligaments, sewed the tendon that ruptured onto the tendon beside it because it had shrunk and could not be stretched back out. I had reactions to the pain pills, stopped taking on third day, panic attacks at night feeling closed in with this boot, Covid in second week. This has been the worst thing I have ever been through, I am afraid like you , that I won’t recover back to my past abilities. It is very frightening and I do feel no one understands unless they’ve been through this. Going to your one year post help me feel better about the future, just a long way to go.

I know it’s 2 years ago, but I cannot feel sorry for feeling so sad about an ankle break. You had a boyfriend, an ankle that would repair..and a full life ahead of you. Sometimes thinking of blessings, not how you are at this moment in time. You will get better, you will walk, and regain confidence again. This sounded so self absorbing, lifting yourself out of it with small successes. I do know the pain and frustration. I too have had a double displaced fracture of the ankle, with metal plates and screws. In hospital for 8 weeks,as I had heart problems, and had a loop then a pacemaker fitted, and I await a heart procedure shortly. I’m happy, I got to walk again, I’m living a comparable life to pre ops., life is what can you do now, not what you have lost. I have never cried, felt sad, or frustrated. Just joy that I could be fixed. ❤

Good for you! Sounds like you’ve been through a lot and are able to remain positive. That is great and I truly wish you well. But this girl has been upbeat up until now and finally came to her breaking point. She is 27, I am 62 and I don’t expect 27 yr olds to behave or think the way I do. In fact I don’t expect anyone to think exactly the way I do. I’ve been a nurse for 40 yrs and recognize signs of depression here, whether it’s situational depression or not, it’s not something that should be down-played or dismissed.
Denali, this was 3 yrs ago, so I hope you are well. I live in the Denver area. I am 10 days post-op left ankle ligament repair surgery and am also healing from left fibula and ankle fractures. Your videos have been extremely helpful. Thank-you!

I feel your agony ... I have had a lot of surgery on my right foot and need more... this is 4 years of my life wasted and a lot of things I can’t do anymore and i just have to suck it up and realize your body can only take so much and I don’t do sports so I can’t imagine not doing that anymore. Just taking away regular activities makes me depressed and I am in pain all the time. But you are young and you will be able to find other joys. I always looked at Kobe Bryant as an inspiration, because the Achilles injury comeback was amazing and I was told it was impossible because I had it and without being a pro athlete you won’t have his help. But still he only got back to have another career ending injury , so he decided to find other joy and train with his daughter until that tragedy. So just know you are not alone but there are more things there and your feelings are totally normal and it’s good for you to have an outlet and be honest. You have a lot to offer. Stay strong!

I went from left ankle surgery to having my right ankle swell up 3 times the size, with my wrist injured from crutches, to hurting my lower back when trying to stand up and then to hurting my joints on my toes as my toes try to compensate for weak recovering ankle. It was actually quite demoralising emotionally to have consequential setbacks again and again.

Four weeks ago I had ankle repair surgery (osteochondral lesion of the talus with microfracture, and os trigonum/posterior impingement debridement). I’ve watched several of your videos already, am watching this one now in anticipation of my own anticipated emotional breakdown next week. I’m feeling a lot of what you talked about in this video - although my ankle hurt, it worked, so why did I mess with it? Have I made it worse? Please I hope I didn’t make it worse. Also, like you, I am sick to death of sitting, and now I have raging sciatica from it, so I’m in pain from the ankle and in pain from the stupid sciatica and all of it SUCKS. I’m nearly 60 and have just retired so that my husband and I can hike and ride bikes before we’re too old to do it again. The surgery was supposed to allow me to do it all without pain, and now I’m worried I won’t be able to do those things now BECAUSE of the ankle surgery. I completely understand why you were so emotional. The thought of losing the ability to do what we love best is really distressing. Anyway, I know your repaired ankle ended up being your “good” ankle, and knowing this gives me hope that the surgery will have been worth it. Thank you so much for this video series. I’m hoping the future holds all good things for you.

Are you going through with the other surgeries? I have to do this exact surgery on my right ankle, once my left one heals and then I have to do surgery on my left shoulder. I’m trying to compete in Mma and then I am going to the police academy in October, and I feel like there is no way I can go through with the other two. Haven’t seen your updated videos yet, but I’ll get to them. Same boat though while I was in the army I wasn’t focused on how serious my injuries were. I got out of the army and my hands started going numb so I ended up getting an mri over my whole body to find out how serious my injuries were. Honestly the physical pain I can get through but the mental pain has been absolutely shit. I hope you’ve gotten through this and I look forward to seeing your future videos!

I’m not very athletic, but I’ve sprained my ankles so many times that I don’t feel any pain when it happens, so I’m able to keep running with dogs, playing Special Olympics Basketball and doing Special Olympics Track & Field. I’m going to be talking with my doctor about what I can do to get my ankles stronger other than going to PT more because I’ve gone to PT and it hasn’t helped. I hurt my shoulder while playing bari sax at the end of April (have been going to PT since then), but then a couple of weeks ago I was in the car with my dad and we got rear ended, so that didn’t help my shoulder. My wrists have carpel tunnel. My body is a mess too!

I know it has been awhile - but 6 wk post TAR - the nerve pain at my big toe - grrrr - but my husband said cold isn't helping, try heat - so with trepidation I did - just to my medial side by my toe and it seemed to stop the worst of the nerve pain - still there, but very tolerable

In Tuesday's when do you rest what's a normal day when does the body get a chance to reset???

  • @bettyhall5762
    @bettyhall5762 Год назад

Baby you need something for pain so you can get some rest first then you can think straight about what you want to do next. I know I'm late cuz I don't know where this was made but I hope you did get you something for pain to get you some rest take a stool softener in a laxative so your body can flow through tell the doctor so you can get some rest you need rest first. I'm sorry I haven't been such a hard time and whenever you read this message I'm hoping that you got something done before my message came in if not then then definitely now God bless and praying for you.

Get your ankle replaced….the pain will be gone. Find the right surgeon, too. Some surgeons do not have the skills that others do. Research. You will get better with an ankle replacement!!!😊

That's a lot of exercise in a day, you were literally beating the hell out of your body everyday. What about loving on your body everyday instead of beating the hell out of it everyday.

Maybe you should cry everything out as much as possible and see a psychiatrist, therapy work through it, and think about doing something different come to the reality check find something else that you can love just as much or maybe not but that you love do I reset time to start again.❤😂🎉.

It gets better just hang in there. 6 weeks you should be able to finally start weight bearing. I’m 8 weeks in and finally teaching myself to walk again. The first step is absolutely terrifying for me since it’s been so long since I stepped on it. I’m still in a walking boot but soon I’ll try the ankle brace and shoe I’m not that comfortable yet! We will survive this together!!!

@@rellzthecarguy2629 yeh I just hit 6 weeks and got a new ankle support but it’s reopened my incision so I’m back to square 1 at the moment - but yes we will get through this together I’ve just started weight bearing exercises too!

How are you guys doing now with the healing process?
I am recovering from a brostrom. My doc removed my splint on day 14 postop and gave me a medical boot. I was surprised to get the boot so soon. He advised me to start walking on it already with crutches, slowly easing the weight onto it same day. The next day I was getting around in the boot without the crutches! Today is day 16 postop and I have increased my walking to 2.5 miles. And relatively pain-free.
I get the impression from RUclips videos and comments that my recovery seems to be far outpacing others and almost seems to be an anomaly. I don’t quite understand it, but I’ll take it :]
