This Illayaraja- Kamal song is one of the most cherished Tamil song by Malayalees by miles. i have seen in so many occasions in Kerala whereever it is performed how people enjoy this song. Anoop, what a talent, his Tamil singing is too good generally of what i have heard and his rendition of Kamal's lines that comes in between..was superb!

I remember an award function in which KJ Yesudas and Shreya Ghosal sang Mundram Pirai song. Mamooty was sitting in first row. The singers sang Hindi version (Surmai Akhiyon mein) for 75% of the song. Then Yesudas switched to Tamil version towards the end "Kanai Kalaimane". Mammotty who was silent when hindi version of song was sung, started humming tamil version when Yesudas started singing in Tamil. Not that Mammoty does not know hindi, it is how much he likes Tamil and relates to Tamil. Tamil is like 2nd language to malayalees in Kerala!
