Even as a Steelers fan I can’t help but feel happy for the Lions and their fans. You guys have been through a LOT. The post Barry Sanders years, the Millen era, swinging and missing when trying to find a franchise quarterback, bad draft picks, 0-16, Stafford leaving and immediately winning a Super Bowl, etc. When Campbell got off to a 4-19-1 start, I figured he’d be one more casualty in what’s been a revolving door of Lions head coaches. But they stuck with him and he’s completely changed the culture there in Detroit. As hard as it is for me to say, the Lions are now MILES ahead of my beloved Steelers and they’ve earned it.

We were a Steelers/Penguins/Pirates family growing up as my dad’s whole side of the family is from that area, but when we got Bettis from the Rams, he became a household favorite of ours, and Super Bowl 40 was the perfect end to his career. I remember that Charlie Batch was from Homestead, Pennsylvania which is where my dad spent essentially all of his childhood so we always wanted him to do well when he was the Lions quarterback but it just never worked out. Honestly I spent far too long being bitter at the Lions because of the infamous 1998 "coin toss" game on Thanksgiving. I felt cheated after it was over. The Steelers were 7-4 going into Thanksgiving, looking like a playoff team, but that loss ended up derailing the entire season, as they went on a 5 game losing streak and missed the playoffs. I got over it though, and years later NFL Network showed that game in which they amplified the sound for the coin toss, and it sounded like Bettis had started to say heads but changed his mind halfway through and said tails, confusing the referee. So bygones are bygones and I really hope the Lions can continue their winning ways, their fans deserve to see a team worth getting excited for.
Bucs fan here, obviously Gruden is my favorite Coach of all time.. However as far as current Coaches, Its hard not to love Dan Campbell especially after hearing all his kind words about my Bucs after beating us in the Playoffs last season..Class Act
I would say they protected themselves when the majority their most money making players are black. I respect Gruden and the messages were private but what he said wouldn't set well with most of the previous people mentioned and there would have been problems (didnt set well with me either). Enough time now has passed that he will have a spot back in the league but lets be realistic about this.

In the same year they lost Henry Ruggs, Gruden resigned late in the season and they still went to the playoffs. They also beat Lamar Jackson and the Ravens that year under Gruden. We made it to the superbowl because of Grudens offensive genius. Dungy was an amazing defensive mind but our offense needed to get better to actually get to a Super Bowl. Gruden made it happen. It’s not his fault we threw away our entire draft future to get him which really hurt us in the following years. Gruden did what he was paid to do and that’s win a Super Bowl. He did what dungy couldn’t do simple as that. And I personally love Coach dungy I go to church with him and absolutely love his family, this is nothing against him. Gruden was just what the bucs needed at the perfect time.
So Glad one of the most DISERVING Ring Of Honor Members in Tampa is showing all of us Tampa Fans how a MAN deals with being CANCELED in this day and age.
