Awesome Liam, I've got a new OP-1 and it was really nice following along with you. Thank you for the detailed explanation regarding the tremolo effect and the way you constructed the drums
@@LiamKillen Definitiv is...now I just have to save up some money. The pick-ups just died on my electric guitar so I think I need to replace those first.
Great video. I need to go through some your older stuff. Not touched my OP1 in a while and when I did get it off the shelf last week the battery had died. It's fully charged again now so need to get back into it.
Your videos are good fun. I figured out the other day that if you press 'Shift+right arrow' while a loop is playing it will skip to an adjacent loop of equal length after the first loop. Haven't seen you do this yet (could be totally wrong there), would love to see you muck around with that!
Hi Liam! Your vids are great! I will be tuned in. I just bought an OP1 used. I noticed some of the patches in the synth engine have clear volume drop out in the upper register. Is that a function of the patch or a problem with my unit?
amazing what are your setting for dew stuff and drive? it could be the mastering which would be upsetting but my kicks and other stuff doesn’t kick like yours.
Q for you -- for the chord part, did you sample a chord that was in the C minor pentatonic scale (like your bass and lead lines?)? And, secondly, when you play the chord do you only use the notes in that scale? sorry, music theory is mysterious to me at the moment. i'm assuming you used the scale for the chord and for the playback, but want to make sure. thanks.
Hey! The chord has extensions in it, like it’s not a triad. I actually started with the chords when originally making this beat and then added a c min pentatonic bass line and liked the way it sounded. Like it’s not totally diatonic. Sometimes I just rely on my ears even though i may not know the exact theory behind it though. If it sounds good it’s good!
Hey Liam! First of all, your videos are pretty nice for 'beginners‘! Keep on doing this nice content :) can you or someone else tell me how exactly can i get these drum kits (especially the TR 707) into the OP-1? I‘m sorry if you already metioned it a few times but i‘ve never seen something like a tutorial for that. Greetings from Munich
Those keys sound great but they need some work, that’s for sure. I actually have a few samples in one of my packs using that wurli! When it sounded better lol.
Liam Killen ahhh a wurli, yeah I don’t doubt it can be difficult to get a “commercial” sound out of something that ancient. It looked like a Rhodes to me and I was like “omg that’s like lofi gold”. Great video!
Liam Killen was just messing with you dude ;) it just made me smile when you said that :) Song sections/loops don’t generally adhere to any specific bar length...

Thank you so much and i’m glad I could help 🙂
My op-1 is being delivered, super stoked, your explanations are very good and I really dig the semi uncut style. Nice to see the whole process.
Thanks! Planning on doin g another OP1 video soon 🙂
This is giving me some OP-1 jealousy...great video!
Hopefully more op1 inspiration though! 🙂

i agree. 4 on the floor is sacred. Any beat with the constant kicks sounds incredible when youre high
It really really is!
bro this is hella sick. Ive lost ideas for my op1 but this brings out alot of creativity. Thanks! :D
My pleasure ! Thx for watching :-)
Always killin' it with the OP-1, keep the OP-1 videos coming!!
As thanks man! Really appreciate that 🙂
About to jump onboard the tutorial train.. thanks for throwing this video together. Just got the op-1 after starting with the op-z
As in giving tutorials or checking them out? Yeah that’s how i started too, with an opz.
Yes!!! Another OP-1 vid! Made my day 👌🌌
This comment made mine 🙂
boots and cats, boots and cats, boots and cats

yussss do it!
good shit, keep em coming!
Thanks! Collab video out this sunday! 🙂
I love this beat
Thank you! House vibes for days!

oh really! No i didn’t know this- i’ll look into this for future videos. Thanks for your input! 🙂

Hmm that’s weird but it may depend on the patch itself.
Kick that beat .. yeah i'm liking it ... digging it man .... peace out ...
✌🏽🙂✌🏽
Hmm why 6 bar loop? I never do that but maybe i should. Is that a common trope in lofi house?
Okay i see that the two extra bars can serve as a transition section into another part.
It’s a solid way to just change it up!
Ah-ha, you delivered. Thanks... Great Tutorial.
Thanks for watching! 🙂
Nice beat bro! I'll have to check out more lofi house music. I also learned of a few OP-1 tricks that I can use as well, cheers!
Yessss i’m glad my video helped you out! 🙂

Choosing the tight kick is important and make sure it’s loud enough in the mix. I usually set drive to 20-30% ish
@@LiamKillen super helpful thank you.
my pleasure
please do more OP1 tutorials
I have lots of other op1 related content on my channel, including my last video, here’s a link! 🙂

great vid. any advice on how to record without static? I find I get a lot of static and noise when I record anything on the OP1
It’s hard to fully get away from that but it could be that the drive is too loud on the master- sometimes bringing that down helps.
Liam Killen ok thanks!
cheers
Hi Liam, awesome videos and sound. Where I can find this track? I love it.
Thank you! It’s exclusive to this video but i’ll be including it in an sp404/dj set in the near future!
Great video, really plain and simple beat just the way I like. Did you you grab the chord sample of op1.fun?
no! I can’t remember now lol
But only 4 tracks?
Unfortunately- although you can record several things onto one track so it’s not as limited as you might think.

Try searching “upload samples onto OP1” on youtube i’m sure something will come up. And thank you for watching. Happy that you found this useful! 🙂
If only my drum programming wasn’t so painfully slow
Also that sidechain tip is amazing
Practice makes perfect!
Yeah man i think i’m gonna make a video specifically for that. It’s one of my fav op1 features

30K+ subs later... nice

Rhodes lurking in the back of a lofi video? It must feel so sad lol
