      I just bought your catalogue from bandcamp to support your amazing work. I find that your backing tracks allow me to let loose but they also force me to think because the progressions are not always obvious. In my opinion the very best set of backing tracks around and I hope you are making enough money to pursue a career in music

      Always great to hear that people like yourself find them useful!
      I don't do this full time (Still have to maintain a regular day job unfortunately) but the generosity of yourself and many others is making it a possibility in the not-so-distant future, so the purchase is much appreciated my friend! 💪

Thanks for showing the chords, less thinking on my part is always welcome. Cold beer, sticky blunt, and jam along often. Subscribed so I can find ya easily, your welcome.

    • @kevindube7096
      @kevindube7096 3 года назад +4

      You’ve figured out a not-so-secret secret that too often takes players too long to understand 😜 a progression where a dominant base becomes the I chord is just beginning for a blend of dorian, mixolydian, and Ionian modes, sometimes even Phrygian & Lydian is the changes allow it.
      I see a lot of players hear a dominant chord & immediately think “well based on where that falls in the major scale
      my only option is mixolydian” & I always felt that the realization that there is never only one option is a “major key” to opening new doors

  • @bevo65

    I've said it before, but one more time won't hurt. If you want to develop your style, these are some of the best jam tracks out there -- long enough to play around, varying keys, tasty and groovy ... infectious. And it's the kind of stuff you'll likely encounter in the real world. So consider throwing this dude a few bucks. If not for yourself, for him. And if not for him, then for the rest of us who look forward to his continuing these videos. Do it for your fellow player!! (And yes, I've already ponied up ... for you. 💪)

    This reminded me intensely of Captain Beefheart!☝️(rather than Godfather J Brown of funk). Fantastic funk with my added pseudo Don Van Vliet’s growl and Zappa like riffs on my Strat. Just got into the groove that I almost fainted with all that endorphin release🤣👍👏. What a fantastic track! Right key so A7 chord in 1st position and 12th fret. Easier. Wonderful stuff. THANKS.👏”I’m gonna booglarize you baby.” CB and the Magic Band👏

  • @WeAreNotAmused

    Hey that's cool to mix the scales and what not
    I learned many of these modes long B4 I ever knew the names. As such is pretty. Obvious. Considering the mysterious nature of music with it's. Daunting 12 tones and the various. Combos. In between. But for the most part. The scales and arpeggios with their various respective ornamentations and those aren't that many. Types to. Know.
    Like on the piano for instance the piano has laid B4 us the c major scale is All the white keys
    Now if you know your" do re mi "
    Then u could expand from this base
    By simply assigning a harmonically agreeable chord on each. Note in the. C major scale
    For instance
    C- C major or c major 7
    D- D MINOR OR MINOR 7
    E- E MINOR OR MINOR 7
    F, - F MAJOR OR MAJOR 7
    G- G MAJOR OR G7
    A- A MINOR OR MINOR 7
    B - B DIMINISHED. - AND BACK TO
    -C .
    One could than add all the flats or sharps remaining a diminished arpeggio or what I began

      I you play G major (aka ionian) Over an A root note, you get A dorian (minor with major 6th) While that could work with this track to an extent, I have two problems with that. 1) The key is clearly A. 2) As A7 is the main chord, its third is C#. So technically, you could play G lydian over it, but that makes no sense. Just play A minor pentatonic over it and learn to bend the thirds. That sounds better than running scales. (at least to me, unless you want fast runs like Satriani or Slash would do or whomever)

  • @pyannaguy4361
    @pyannaguy4361 2 года назад

    As an old working pro, it's always sadly comical to hear the "which scale over which chord, etc." as if all solo-ing & jamming reduces to that formula. It's a bit like, "I'm writing my new GF a letter. Should the verbs be mostly, etc. etc...Is past perfect tense OK for a romantic, etc.?" LOL.. It's about VOCABULARY, phrasing, fluidity, etc. etc. Scales are a SMALL part of "improvising" - or it ain't improvising.
    Just sayin'...Thanks for your time! 👍🏻
