WOW, thanks to the both of you for this amazing final thoughts video (as well as for the other videos). We have planes in our eyes right now! ^^

Maybe for the banking thing, just think of it as how hard the stick (steering wheel) is getting pulled, so the higher number goes on the side of the steering wheel that gets more pull. If the right side of the wheel is pulled further than the left, you bank to the right, etc.

This was one of the funnest series of videos, I don't know it's because I already own it but I enjoyed it a lot.

Exactly!!! Where it comes to acting there's no time to talk, only time to react to conditions, to co-pilot moves. I couldn't agree more. Fantastic game, very, very thematic! And that tension... This game literally writes the script every single time I play it with my son.

At first I also thought this is not thematic as communication is very important. But then I had the same thought as Rahdo has, where the no communication part is just the pilot and co-pilot reacting in between communications.

13:46 The banking is actually super intuitive and the correct way to represent how the aircraft flies. The rulebook isn't available but based on BeforeYouPlay's rule teach video and my knowledge of planes, it doesn't represent the engine thrust, the engine thrust is the place below where the dice control the airspeed. It represents the yoke (the control wheel). If the left number is higher than the right one, it means the yoke was moved to the left, which creates a roll to the left. So your negative point about thematic dissonance is actually a further proof of the highly thematic nature of the game 🙂
You are right you could still reverse it if both players are OK and it wouldn't change the gameplay but I'm glad the publisher didn't include that in the rules, that would be thematically wrong 😉

Overall interesting but... it gives you bad impression that coffee machine is the most important instrument on the plane. They should name it "consult checklists" or something. Abstract progress bar could have been replaced with quasi real approach map (every airport have them) and I think that would increase immersion... And the bank indicator - I guess all modern passenger liners use artificial horizon and not plane figure that was used in older/smaller planes

it's actually called "concentration" in the rules, not coffee (that's just a cute visual gag refrences). the rules also talk about how they've abstracted out 2 of the 3 dimensions for the planes orientation for smoother gameplay

@@rahdo so the choice of token shape was wrong:) "training" ones from Kanban could replace it:) I'm not saying it's bad. But it could be better:) No buy for me this time but... I bought Under Falling Skies before and it does scratch old FSX user in me, so... maybe some day

i think they were just having a bit of fun with the coffee reference :)

The idea is very simple : to take a coffee to have a peak of concentration and do a little more precise action. Having a coffee is not a complete action or a change of strategy, it is only a modification.
And the vast majority of testers loved this funny reference.
      That's not a simulator, it's just a game.
Just try it and let me know. 👍

Nothing keeping plane geeks from calling it that though if that makes it more fun to you. I'll mention it to my airplane geek of a hubby anyway. He didn't mind seeing the coffee cup and thought it was funny as well. I think 'checklists' isn't sexy in many people's vocabulary lol
