Looks decent enough - I’m glad you don’t just review hyped up AAA titles, but smaller games like this as well. Everyone deserves a fair shot!

@@piercethroughheart5700 There have been many exceedingly good AAA titles that have come out recently! Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars, Borderlands Tiny Tina’s, etc… but I see where you’re coming from!

Love stealth games and victorian settings, but I've never heard of this one. Definitely adding to my wishlist.
What are your top stealth games that aren’t metal gear? I liked mark of the ninja, despatados3 and shadow tactics
@@finnmarr-heenan2397 Sniper Elite! Specifically Sniper Elite 4. It has everything to make a great stealth game. It's a rush when you clear a level completely undetected. Smart AI, and great level design shine through that series.
I love the Sniper Elite Series, most of the Splinter cell games, thief games. A lot of immersive Sims also scratch the itch, my favorite is the dishonored games. Also recommend Deus Ex series as well. Hitman can kinda fit that stealth mold as well.
One game I will put in my bucketlist with no certainty that I will play it.

Another review that saved me some money. I like stealth games and was hoping this one would turn out decent or even good. Sadly, no luck. I really enjoy the fun-factor part of the reviews because games should be all about fun and engagement. If a mage has frustrating controls schemes or disjointed game mechanics I want to hear about it in a review. So thanks again for the great work!

This look very inspired by Thief even down to the look of the modern bow and choice of sneaky leather outfit.

Loving the vibe of this and weird west. Used to only play FPS games so any recommendations y’all?
Not sure if you all noticed, but there was a horse there. Around 27 seconds if you have never seen a mythical creature in person before.
Had my eye on it a little since it piqued my curiosity, shame it doesn't quite hit the mark. Took a while to remember the name but it kind of reminds of of Seven, but this focuses a lot more on Thief style stealth it seems. Definitely going to install Seven again, see what the Enhanced Edition adds to the mix.

That menu is straight up Dishonored. I actually had to check if it was the same devs. Still, I like the look. Sounds like a wait to see what the devs do type of game. I love my sound effects which can make or break a game for me. Also, animations. If they look funny, it is funny. If the game isn't in the vain of funny, somethings off. So I hope patches are possible. Great review boss!

Another huge issue is continuity with game world design. In the anime intro there is a gun used and the characters are all looking like they're in a modern era. Then the game itself has Victorian/pseudo medieval architecture to the buildings and the technology. The enemies use swords, etc. It's just really not fluid with continuity with the game worlds design and the time era. Some areas in the game look like a modern city. It's just all random. Like they didn't really think about the detail in this way.
Apparently you can now save at any time in the pause menu.
Kind of reminds me of Thief. One of my all time favorite games

Are there any games anyone would recommend that do something similar but better? I love the vibe and I'll maybe give it a shot on sale some time but I'd LOVE a similar, more polished game.

I tell the ladies i have a seven inch dagger
Just finished the game on Normal a few hours ago and started a new playthrough on Hard. I really enjoyed myself, but I'm starting to really notice the cracks -- and they were already noticeable on Normal. I suspected this would happen, but the higher you push the difficulty the more irritating all the bits of jank and lack of polish start to feel. Makes sense, you want the game to be as reliable as possible if you're going to be pushing yourself to the max. I think that this _is_ a good game, not great, but _good,_ and it could be a lot better if the dev team polished up the player's basic mechanics, the stuff we use hundreds of times, to be a little smoother and more 'generous.'

Had this on my Steam wish list for a while. Shame it doesn't quite hit the mark, but still might be something I'll pick up on sale.

It's a shame that Winter Ember misses the mark in so many areas. As a huge fan of stealth games, I had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately, it falls short overall. However, I will eventually pick it up for a few reasons. It reminds a little bit of Thief and because stealth games are few and far between. I like the atmosphere and setting as well. Winter Ember would've completely slipped underneath the radar if you didn't cover it. Thanks once again Karak for another great review!

I tried it, and couldn't get passed the initial quest, get the a train station. Why am I sneaking around, killing patrols, etc., instead of going to the train station, buying a ticket, and getting on?

I saw this listed as an upcoming game on Gamefaqs and the name intrigued me. I am sucker for anything with a dark/cold sounding name so I had to at least click on the link. I like the idea and the setting of it, but too bad it doesn't seem like a better game. I wasn't going to get it anyway but I still would like to have heard it was better for some reason. Thanks for the review though because I was still curious to see it in action.

Weren't you playing with me on Ghosts, Call of duty when I had to use ACG as a handle or something like that? I miss playing that game. Fun but stressful. Oh...I never did mention that my direct ancestor is one of the reasons for The Establishment Clause - 1st Amendment. ACG....Yeah...I remember that when we had to use it in playing that game.

Probably lower as it would have had to have come out prior and would have REALLY been in bad shape

This is where indie games really need AAA input even if it's just a budget. I suppose I'm saying that we need middle shelf games between indie and AAA.
