Welcome back, everyone! Please make sure to do lots of research before considering keeping glass frogs as pets. In general, they are more delicate than a lot of other species kept in herpetoculture. Don't forget to answer today's question of the day! As always, special thanks to my Reptiliatus patrons for their additional support www.patreon.com/Reptiliatus ! Sorry that there haven't been many full-length videos in the last few weeks! I've been VERY BUSY building something VERY BIG for my green tree monitor lizards and several other enclosures for other animals!
I love it when herptubers do updates on their vivs. I always want to see how they look after they have grown, and not only what they look like when they're first made. Great video, Dayyon.
they're so cute they almost look like they could only exist in an anime! love how this habitat has grown out. i've only done a few reptile and invert enclosures, but i really enjoy all the types i've tried so far. the arid has been limited to tarantula species, but its been a fun challenge to figure out ways to keep it interesting for all involved. my favorites are planted enclosures, gardening in miniature! so far of those my favorite has been for my eldest crestie, she loves checking out the different areas depending on what she wants. from burrowing under a bunch of moss to using vines as shortcuts to her preferred hides and ledges. currently plotting out a blue tongue skink enclosure set up for the coming year :3
I love how much you love these little cuties! QOTD: I’m not much of a designer, but the favorite terrarium I’ve done is a jungle theme with skeletons and skulls for my Russian Rat snake
This is easily one of the best videos on this platform, I’m absolutely in love with these adorable little frogs! I hope we get to see a lot more of them in the future.
I respect that you talked about the paludarium critique! Having the ability to remove the water seasonally (or the other way around prefferably) is the way to go i feel like!
As the person who gave the critique. It's not about the breeding alone. Bacterial issues, inmense breeding stress, higher feeding difficulty with appropriate nutrion are all factors. The best option are rainchambers or temporary floods for 2 weeks orso. But a constant water feature for months is not a good idea and none of the good glassfrog breeders use this for a reason. The frogs don't live above streams. They just breed there. That's it. I've bred many glassfrogs and I let people know this isn't a good option. I let Reptiliatus know many times. He hasn't bred them and is still doing the same nonsense that all experts do not recommend to do. At the end of the day it's his choice but smart is something else. There are basically 0 good reasons to do it and a ton on why not to do it. So I'm just constantly flabbergasted by these questionable decisions that simply ignore the opinion of experts.
Thank you for sharing this video about them. I will have 3 glass frogs in the spring and I collect informations about them to make them feel good. I like your videos, your terrariums are nice.
I have 2 terrariums on my bucket list. The first is a large terrarium (with a removeable divider) for a mating pair of black-breasted leaf turtles. The second is a setup for some "El Cope" dart frogs-I fell in love with them at the reptile show a few weeks ago and they've been on my mind nonstop since.
@@Reptiliatus Don't have any yet. I want to build and season the enclosures first. Hopefully I can get the frog enclosure built soon. The googly eyed ones will have to wait until I can save up. It's quite the investment.
Awesome video 🎉 I would love a tropical/ jungle type of palaudarium. When a I have more experience I want to build one for frogs or a semi aborial lizard ❤ one day I also want to go "full technology" like imitating rain, storm, sunsets and so on😍
Qotd: my favorite type of setup is a fully lush rainforest setup, such as the cloud forest vivarium mike tytula has showcased, where every inch is covered in greenery and most of the setup is nondescript plants that add to the feel. Also, I went to a reptile expo last weekend with the project mini dragon merch, and someone recognized it! Your influence is far reaching!
You should upload the entire feeding video, un time-lapsed if that is possible. only possible if you shot it at 30fps ofc. Would love to see that!! maybe an unlisted video
They are so freaking adorable! I love their new home. My dream paludarium would be to have a giant one with guppies, shrimp, turtles, garter snakes, lizards, and frogs! Like I said dream because that would probably be just a few turtles and snakes after a month lol. Right now I have guppies and shrimp, but maybe in a few years I'll add a frog or turtle to my tiny zoo. Thank you for sharing your amazing collection!
I love that video! Maybe you explain it in a different video, but how do you manage the humidity in the room you have these vivariums in? Like talking about moist in the room and prevent maybe even molding off the walls
Exciting! Thats totally up to you! I think that would look great! I'd do the whole thing with the coco coir and then add some moss over that. If you use the moss to cover the foam, it'll eventually come off a lot easier and reveal the foam behind it.
I would put out some tiny dishes with food (pangea, etc) and a few small water dishes. Especially under shelves or along walls. They’ll hopefully find that and it’ll at least help them keep going. I suggest searching at night and searching in the room you lost them. They really don’t usually venture too far. Best of luck!

How do i get glass frogs in Europe? Is it even possible? I fell in love with them from the first moment i discovered they exist years ago.does anyone know?and of course all the plants that are needed
Thank you! No, not yet! I don't find them to be stressed but I have been thinking about removing the water side and doing a fully terrestrial build for them and building a separate rain chamber.
@@Reptiliatus I have a male heavy group with a female who has been visibly carrying eggs for what seems like months. The males call every night but no amplexus yet. They've been in a paladarium for about 2 months. Fingers crossed!
Thanks for emphasizing that these aren’t for everybody. Do you live in Costa Rica? I was dreaming to travel and live there for a year after high school, but it never happened 😢 maybe someday!
Usually for these, I use repashy calcium plus. Once a week I mix that with repashy supervit and then once a month I dust the food with the repashy vitamin a for frogs :). Hope that helps!
to be honest my favorite type of enclosures are bioactive ones that closely mimic the natural habitat of the species, basically biotopes, I think they are best since that way you can see the animal more closely to how you would find them in nature, not only that but it lends itself to more natural behaviours, things they might not do unless they are in their natural habitat.

Glass frogs are best baby
They are very neat animals!
How do i get glass frogs in Europe? Is it even possible? I fell in love with them from the first moment i discovered they exist years ago.does anyone know?and of course all the plants that are needed
Qotd I have different habitats. Desert for Vipergecko and Tropiocoletes steudneri and weter for Lepidodactylus lugubris and Takydromus smaragdinus.
Wonder how much money to build this paludarium? This is awesome😍👍thanks for the video
@Reptiliatus 15:29 what are those silica gel packet looking things?
They are actually little packets with sawdust or bran that release predatory mites that eat/attack plant pests (thrips)!
@@Reptiliatus thank you! My wife was super curious and then mentioned how annoying thrips are
Great video! Did they ever end up breeding for you? I have a group that im hoping to get breeding soon too.
Also, do you still keep them in a paladarium style enclosure. Do you find that it stresses them at all?
So I have glass frogs also, and yours are so active I’ve never seen mine eat, is that normal?
Rn i have a leopard gecko and soon ill be setting up an arid bioactive set up for her (I prefer arid btw)
Awesome!
What kind of reptile dust do you use? Mine doesn’t stick that well?
Usually for these, I use repashy calcium plus. Once a week I mix that with repashy supervit and then once a month I dust the food with the repashy vitamin a for frogs :). Hope that helps!
to be honest my favorite type of enclosures are bioactive ones that closely mimic the natural habitat of the species, basically biotopes, I think they are best since that way you can see the animal more closely to how you would find them in nature, not only that but it lends itself to more natural behaviours, things they might not do unless they are in their natural habitat.
Bioactive Tropical with water feature. I keep my tokay’s in them and they are my favorite species of gecko.
Have these bred since?
Awesome!!!. ❤
Thank you!
There’s so much cute little froggies which I could have pet glass frogs
Haha 🐸
If I had glass frogs I would be soooo happy 😐
Where did you buy them?
I looooove jungle bioactive terrariums! And I would put my dream animal, my leachianus gecko!
Me too! That would be so cool! Just be careful selecting plants as they are heavy bodied and destroy everything haha.
@@Reptiliatus yea!!! He’s only about 55-60g right now :) just a little guy still
Is there a reason you're wereing gloves?
