I applaud the job you did especially with so few power tool, it a good restoration. However please bolt down your vise, it's a beautiful bit of kit and deserves a permanent place of honour.
Do you applaud the fact that the machine was painted ? is this called restoration? This is a good machine, if it is restored, it will be able to serve for a very long time and help in the work ! but after such a restoration it is not a machine but just a useless twister with a beating spindle and a non-working cartridge !!! In our country, for such work, THEY are FIRED immediately !!!!
You should have put the first one of those bearings that went on the top of the quill drive in first then inserted the second. That would have kept their spacing.
Temporary? No room on the bench? Drill a couple of holes through the bench top, secure the vise to the top with two or three heavy bolts, washers and wing nuts. When you’re done, spin the wing nuts off, remove the bolts and store the vise. The holes in the bench could be used with dogs for planning or sanding...simple. No excuse for turning a vise into a weapon.

Hey great job mate , it is good to see the old gear being restored and looked after . Also where does the electric motor go on the drill press . I hope this finds you doing another resto and I hope I am not bothering you with these questions .

It's thrown away not so long ago. Didn't rusted too much. No bolts unscrewing with acetylene torch. I think it's not even meets rain before you found it)
For the record, I've done this type of rebuild a few times. doing a BOISE CRANE 1800 at this time. Judging by some of the comments, I'm inclined to think this must be "open Sunday" in the lounge at the local sanitarium !! :)

Hello, in today's video we will restore a drill press that I bought at a yard sale and clumsily threw in some bushes and covered up with a couple of sticks.......
Yes, I don’t buy the ‘find’. There is virtually no corrosion and everything is so well lubricated it comes apart with ease and no heat. The chuck and arbor were not there at the ‘find’ then they are mysteriously in the quill, then they disappear again before re-emerging. Would have liked to see a minimal protective coating or lubrication on mating and sliding surfaces during re-assembly. But still fascinating enough to watch to the end. Thanks for posting.
Not impressed . The main shaft looked buckled when it was spun towards the end of the video and who in their right mind would re-use old worn woodruff keys and that old chuck. Filing new gear teeth on that massively abused chuck was the point where I lost faith in the restoration and couldn’t take it serious any longer. Why is it these “restorers” believe that the more metal you remove , the closer to manufacturing tolerance the part becomes???

At least the shaft turns and the quill moves. I'd love to see the runout measurements though. :/
It does look really poor... I wouldn't use it like that
