    ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.
    ABOUT VEDANTA NY
Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Thank you Swami 🙏- your devotion is exemplary . When I was a child I was always very religiously / spiritually orientated . I used to pray very fervently to Christ to show Himself to me . Frustratingly , this didn't happen in an overt way . However , slowly , slowly I was led to Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi , and I felt that Christ was saying " Here , this is the face of God " . This is no small matter because even though I was not raised in a very dogmatic , sectarian , way , still other interpretations of Christianity were very alien to me . So to be led to a divine personality who I regard as a perfect reflection of Christ ( and vice versa ) and who came from a very different cultural background is truly wondrous . Although I have this deep connection with Sri Ramana , still have great reverence for these Swami's in the Sri Ramakrishna and Sri Vivekananda tradition 🕉️

@@rockingrishi1407 🙏Well you can refer to the RUclips channels of Michael James or David Godman who are very well qualified to discuss Bhagavan's teachings . Obviously His main prescription was to enquire into the nature of the self . Not just asking ' Who Am I ? ' but really searching for the 'I' . As bhakti is the mother of jnana I find just looking at a photo of Bhagavan will elevate me to a loving state . Best wishes and Blessings to you 🕉️🕊️

It is not awakening he was really a devatma(soul of God's expansion ) every thing that happened with him is just a mere play of Supreme lord to show us that all the greatest devotees will suffer materially and thus we should not look at our life superficially rather we should serve ourselves to Lord.

I agree with you. Karma acts in mysterious ways. I do believe that when "bad things happen to good people" as the saying goes, it is not because they are getting what they "deserve" in that eye for an eye way but because experience is our greatest teacher. Something like losing a child/parent/sibling will teach one about non-attachment, non-grasping and clinging, desire, impermanence, fear, etc. a lot quicker and more directly than all the intellectualizing in a thousand lifetimes. Then again, such experiences are no assurance of spiritual growth because a confluence of experience and spiritual readiness or ripeness are needed as well as other factors. Everything that happens in this world is the result of every other thing that ever happened. Every wave is the result of the entire movement of the ocean.

Sir, very true I agreed with you..
Ramakrishna energy still exist in this world Kaliyuga. More than 15years ago when I was nearby conveyer belt… Bhagawan Rama Krishna and Saradha Amma photo may be someone carrying him…but unfortunately the small piece of photo frame was dropped at belt where I standing distance 10cm…
If drop on the floor may be I didn’t realise it. But that photo frame of him didn’t drop on the floor but dropped on the belt where I standing and immediately I taken that photo. I honestly didn’t know that time that photo was Bhagawan Ramakrishna and Saradha Amma. I asked my close friend involved in spiritual life who is the person in the frame.. He told me the name of them and he told me to kept with me. Until now I having his photos frame with me. I very strongly involved with spiritual life after practice non attachment. Only two years ago I read about him. My eyes full of tears by naturally. He is not around this world but his energy bringing me to right path..
In this mad world no one will believe me. Whoever the person condemn him that person having endless desires in this world.. there are not progress in spiritual life by mocking great soul.
If any of the place they placed his statue in shop by naturally I can enter the place.

My house is near to Dakhineswar. We used to go there during Childhood. But sufficient justice is not done. It's a brilliant place to meditate. But people there have to stand up in queue for hours just to have a look at the Kali Idol for one or two seconds. There are child stealers who make the children beg there. That feels so bad. Bcz if you ignore the material things then there is such a strong spiritual atmosphere there. I wish that atmosphere gets manifested in the material things too.

    • @snarendran8300
      @snarendran8300 2 года назад

Brother, Ramakrishna paramahamsa says that idol worship is required only on the beginning stage. It is not the ultimate one.
He gives a beautiful example to reiterate his notion that at the time of construction of a house, workers need supporting materials like ladders to go up to finish the work. After finishing the work, those materials are no longer needed.
Likewise idol worship is needed in the inception. After that it is not required.

Brother, greed has no end. Even though a man achieves his target, the greed multiples. But the greed to have the dharshan of God ends with contentment after seeing God.
      Greed for earthly things increases.
Greed for heavenly things subdues after fulfillment.

Swami, I love your talks about Vedanta, but surely if somebody in 2018 can reliably walk on water (or something equally impressive) AND wanted fame and fortune they could have it? If you say the supernatural powers go along with a desire to remain hidden and continue spiritual work, I can't really argue with that, but if people are really seeking powers with the intent of becoming rich and famous, and succeeding in developing powers, why don't we see any of them as world famous multimillionaires? They could demonstrate to a nihilistic world the reality of spirituality AND provide for their families, there would be no downside. The only reason I can see for us not seeing them is, well, that there are no such people.

    • @SanjayVinayak
      @SanjayVinayak 6 лет назад +3

Because these occult powers are obtained by spiritual practice and using them would lead you astray from that path and you would lose them eventually. These occult powers are early manifestations of realising the nature of Maya and how it can be manipulated. But continuing on that will lead you on completely being free from this Maya and hence having no need for such powers.

Jesus said about this, that those, who have ear to hear this kind of things, they will. Another thing. To be able to approach this kind of things, we need humility. The Ego is saying, that if there is a God, he/she shoud come to me, and let me know. Then I will believe it, and maybe act on it, if I feel like. But its the other way around.

  • @snarendran8300

In a system of education, a teacher comes and teaches the lessons. Among these, who becomes successful?.Those who not only listens to the words but also converts the teachings into action are the successful ones.
    Likewise who will achieve moksha?
Only those who practice the words of a guru like Ramakrishna paramahamsa.
What about those who only reads and speaks alone?
After the retirement of a teacher, will no one come to continue the classes?
No. A qualified teacher comes to guide the students and mould them into a honourable personality.
To enjoy the worldly pleasures and resume education, people need a person continuously without any interruption.
If it is possible, will no one come to take the ignorant people to the divine feet of God?
One must have been sent by the compassionate God to redeem the world.
That is why Ramakrishna paramahamsa's first and foremost preaching is to look for God.
Only a living Guru(Thothapuri) led Ramakrishna paramahamsa in his spiritual journey. He sought only the living guru and not the lived guru.
For a spiritual accomplishment a competent guru is required to fulfill the purpose of birth.
A doctor is recognised only on the basis of the genuineness of the certificate.
Vedas say that a guru has recognised with a unique identity in his body and in his action.

    At least warned about it.
As krishna did in mahabharat, rama did in ramayana, buddha did to corrupt brahman, Parshuram did to corrupt kshatriya.

It was ramakrishna who made a vivekananda and vivekananda's speeches created a rise of nationalism and inspired millions of freedom fighters.. an avatara's ways are inscrutable.. this time he came to reestablish dharma by propounding the harmony of all religions and liberation of devotees... did buddha at once defeated all the corrupt brahmnis?? No.. it took a long period of time to establish dhamma many years after Buddha shed his body.. similarly the avatar of bhagavan Sri ramakrishna's power are present even today transforming thousands of devotees who take his name.. he came to provide salvation to fallen mankind, this is the need of kaliyuga, that's why he is the avatara of this yuga.. the bhagavatam mentions vaibhav avatars like kapila who had job of propounding sankhya philosophy , dattatreya who was born to please mother anusuya and teach jnana to janak.. they had their own job and they accomplished it.. every avatara has a prescribed duty..

We must absolutely worship sick gods. Love is the best medicine. Stones are the metaphor for love to use as medicine to heal prostitutes or any other disease. Some rich people throw stones of love to prostitutes by allowing them to live in their palace so that the prostitute can actually die. Billy Carson makes initiations in the Great Pyramid of Giza, because human is the disease, tasting death is the way to resuscitate into the god we have always been. We don't have to do that; we can die every day in love for the whole existence.

What does that mean? Avatar has two meanings? One from Bhakti tradition and another from Vedantic tradition? Doesnt make sense. Avatar simply means incarnation of God, no matter what tradition you belong to. In fact a Vendanti is a Bhaktha also. One can practice one or all of the four yogas - Raja, Karma, Gnana and Bhakthi Yogas. There is no segregation that Bhaktha is different from a Vedanti.

I feel sorry for that Hari who came down as the Paramhans. He Who enjoys inconceivable sweet loving exchanges with His liberated associates, affairs which eclipse the ocean of Brahm-gyan and reduce it to a puddle, had to come down and talk about such insipid topics like chakras, kundalini, and tantra. Like the miser who, although seemingly talks about wife, sons, health, and society to others, but only ever dwells on his wealth in the innermost recesses of his mind, the Paramhans, too, returned to bhakti and the ineffable bliss it caused, again and again. Just like other gyani giants who came on the earth to teach gyan, yog, and advaita, but always preached bhakti as the best practice, the Paramhans, too, promoted bhakti, explicitly or implicitly. Just like a teacher teaches her student step by step, making it seem that the 10th standard is all he needs to focus on, the gyanis proclaim advaita to be the highest truth. Those who reach that state, however, realize that they'd abandon all their infinite glory, realization, and bliss of formless Being, in a trice, if they get a chance to roam the lanes of Vrndavan or Ayodhya, pining for the lotus feet of Sri Hari. Trillions of Brahm-gyanis and avadhutas are swept away by a drop of Prema, which swells to a violent current for them. Indeed, those who have Prema for Sri Hari reject Brahm-gyan like spit.

Not even a thousand visions of hari , chaitanya prabhu direct vision and interaction in flesh and blood or even Sri ramakrishna's direct diksha and presence can deflect us even for the aspiration of having pratyaksh anupalabdhi tatva gyan for veda-sara Shiva stava or nirvana shatakam or pratyabhigna forget realisation of same ..

@@DattaMusics Anand bhog? Lol. Go and read the ved/upanishads. The whole edifice of vaidik siddhant is built around Anand-brahm. Your bland, insipid, and completely uneventful Kaivalya aspires towards Ananda and claims itself to be the only state of such ananda, but unfortunately, is only ever stuck at gnyan/chaitanya. Kaivalya is knowledge-pradhan, not anand-pradhan. And Ananda is the very food and soul of all living beings. Everything you do - even samadhi - is a desperate attempt to get to the anand.
The rest of your comment regarding tantra, etc is utter gibberish and makes no sense.
Only time will tell who is right. Either I will, after attaining Prema, reject Kaivalya like spit and straw, like the four Kumaras, Janak Paramhans, and Shukdeo Paramhans did, or I will submit to its all-negating nature.
However, I'm completely sure that I will be powerful enough to (metaphorically) swallow trillions of avadhutas. Your Kaivalya just cannot compare. It flows away like a dried leaf in the flood of Prema.
Purify your mind and pray to your guru to show you the highest truth. Only that can help you. Very rarely do gnyanis get the highest privilege of bhakti. Most of them wallow in static kaivalya-pada forever. I pity people like you, who are destined for such a nightmare, bereft forever of even a drop of bhakti/prema. What an absolute shame.
