EricTheCarGuy, Humble Mechanic, Engineering Explained, ChrisFix, and Matt Maran Motoring all in the same room together. It's like every car enthusiast's dream.
ALL of my favorite automotive RUclips personalities hosted at ETCG's garage for first start of Dad's Truck, and going to Indy 500. That is just awesome!
In my eyes Eric it was you who started all these great automotive channels on RUclips. You were the first auto repair channel I ever watched on youtube, it was probably an honor for those guys to be there when you started your engine!
Yup. Painting your welds, especially on exhaust is the ticket for not getting it rusty as fast as it could and will without. I use a combo of etch high heat primer and high temp paint. I used to use a thicker stuff (was thinking that impacts are a common thing) but it's best to have thin, even, well laid and well gripped in coats.
I just discovered this channel, I watched the 383, and now I see the truck. What blows me away is that my dad "who's name is also Eric, has 91c15. He bought it in 2002. Carved 502, big cam, holly. Was a mean truck. My dad was a engine builder and body man. He installed a east coast customs fiberglass ground effects, shaved lights and roll pan, a smooth fiberglass topper. Fast forward to a few years ago. The truck was totaled, someone pulled out in front of me, the truck is repairable, however when this happend my dad was suffering from stage 3 cancer and other things, he was chemically poisoned painting semis in the early 90s where he worked. So he has been gone. And like you said it " Will always be dad's truck" is true. I hope to restore it to the street/strip truck he invisioned
So I'm laying on my bed just watching this video and through out the whole video I cannot stop smiling. What a time to be alive! Really look forward to the next video!
Pretty cool Eric! That’s a nice 383 stroker for sure! I’m an old retired mechanic from United States Air Force I have a condition whereby I cannot longer seem to get the information to my hands. I’ve got a nice 383 stroker coming from Washington state! Hot rod engines out there is sending me a 383 stroker for my 1963, Chevy C 10 pick up. I’m also putting a Tremec five speed overdrive transmission manual into the truck! The first engine was attempted to be delivered but it was not wrapped properly and damage was done to that 383. So I am waiting for another engine for my project truck. I’m an old retired mechanic from the Air Force I have a disability where I cannot get a lot of information to my hands these days. Eric your videos inspire me to keep turning wrenches and to stay dirty! I love the mechanical things that you show, You are an awesome mechanic and I thank you for the material that you post it keeps me going! Rocco and Eric! You’re one hell of a mechanic I follow a lot of the things that you do online and once again thank you Eric!
Nice to see the whole gang in one spot! That truck is amazing and everyone can see the amount of love and pride you are putting on it. Keep the good work coming Eric!!
Hey, why is the U.S. Flag upside down on your profile picture? Are you under dire distress? I’m a 20 year retired Veteran and notice things like this. According to Title 36 Section 176 of the U.S. flag code, the flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
I have a 1994 k1500-my dad's old truck given to me for graduation years ago. In the middle of restoration at the moment (couldn't bear to part with it). Love these trucks. So easy to work on!
Awesomeness Eric. Glad to hear Etcg dad's truck run. Fantastic work on this project as usual. Looking forward to the final vids of this series. Cheers Arthur.
Thanks for this video. You deserve a long vacation, Eric. Excellent work, I enjoyed watching the whole process which culminated into the turning of the ignition switch. High fives to you!
Remember, manufactures design for assembly line efficiency, not for repair efficiency. Anytime you run into a "what were they thinking putting this here", you just ran into an assembly line sequence wall. Turned out great.. It's a great truck.
HOLY CROW SIR ERIC, WHEN YOU TURNED THOSE FANS ON IT SOUNDED LIKE A FREAKIN SHOP VAC. The best part of this whole vid ( FOR ME ) was when you put that piece of Rad. Hose in that your DAD had in there. The words that you said that HIT HOME HARD WAS " TO ME THIS WILL ALWAYS BE HIS TRUCK " . You see my wife passed a little over 3 years ago at the age of 49 & her 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee still sits in the garage, it has 182,000 miles on it with no rust, bought it brand new for her. Now I'm finally replacing a lot of stuff on the Jeep, mostly suspension parts, shocks, tires Rad, hoses ect. What I get from my family members, neighbors & the few friends that stuck by me is "WHY ARE YOU SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY ON THAT OLD JEEP ? LIKE YOU SAID ERIC, "IT WILL ALWAYS BE MY WIFE'S JEEP " I CAN'T SELL IT, I JUST CAN'T, THEY DON'T GET IT. I had to stop the vid. for a bit but I continued on Eric & I must say, YOU SIR ARE ONE HELL OF A MECHANIC FOR WHAT YOU TRANSFORMED THAT TRUCK INTO. YOU ALSO HAVE GREAT MORALS, RESPECT & LOVE FOR YOUR DAD, PLUS IT SOUNDS DAMN AWESOME SIR.
Fantastic. Great to see my other favourite guys appear in this episode, Charles and Engineering explained, plus the ubiquitous Chris Fix. Really enjoyed watching this and think you made a very nice job of this. Didn't the engine start up beautifully.
Very good series, not hot rodding my 90 CK2500 but man did you save me a lot of potential headaches on the maintenance I have planned. (especially the interior disassembly) Thanks!
Love to know were you got all the chromed shiny belt drive components like the clack compressor and the alternator and the radiator cap as well as the power steering pump they all look good with the bracket
I literally will probably never build something this nice and complex, but damn i enjoy just watching this shit get put together. Lots of good ideas, lots of need to improvise and adapt, and you finish with something amazing. Good shit man!
How many youtubers does it take to get DT383 running? Dunno...but Eric knows how many he is gonna use :D Man, sounds like a beast! Can't wait to see it making some tire smoke on the track!!!
you should run a pcv oil separator keep that engine clean on the inside. The trans has to have the engine on for the torque converter to pump the oil (Check, read, look at the dip sick it has instructions) it will get full if you are not running it check it with the engine on in neutral the distributor oil drive has to line up to where you are dropping in the distributor lol
Dear erick thanks for upload the first start of the dad truck on a auto swap and a 383ci stroker and i wish you make a video of the truck with headers and i got one question about what efi you used in the truck?
Interestingly enough, as you began filling the transmission, it occurred to me that perhaps Humble Mechanic would assist by looking at the tail shaft and pan to check for leaks such that several quarts would not be poured in (out) prior to discovering a leak. No, I am not making this up after the fact. These projects never go seamlessly. Also, I am wondering if filling the block through the thermostat housing would be beneficial prior to filling the radiator after hoses, etc are fully installed
Great series, it's been spurring me on during my personal "dads truck" saga.. it's my father in laws truck, a 2007 Nissan Frontier (4.0, 6mt, 4x4) that was in desperate need of some TLC; calipers, pads, rotors, parking brake shoes, hard & soft brake lines, rear shocks, clutch master, slave & lines... lots of brake fluid & bleeding.. this weekend will be the end of it (for now). I'll be happy to finally stop working on it, and that he will get to use it again. The clutch was a last minute addition - after fixing all of the brake issue, the clutch hard lines decided to blow - they were fairly rotted, like every other hard line at/below frame level on the truck, so it was another parts order, and of course, more brake fluid.
EricTheCarGuy, Humble Mechanic, Engineering Explained, ChrisFix, and Matt Maran Motoring all in the same room together. It's like every car enthusiast's dream.
Drop Matt Maran and you got it
And they all try to act like they're not there when Scotty Kilmer tries knocking to get in lol.
Where's Scotty Kilmer??
@@michaelserrano7097 He's not there. It was a joke lol.
Jonnells24 can tell they like being there too. Checking out Eric’s shop. 😎
35:03 let's not forget that Brian The Camera Guy was also there!
OMG the difference 10 seconds can make in Erics life.
45:54 PURE JOY
46:04 PAAAANIIIIC (briefly)
GREAT JOB!!! YOU BASICALLY RE ENGINEERED THAT WHOLE TRUCK...A TRUE LABOR OF LOVE!!!
ALL of my favorite automotive RUclips personalities hosted at ETCG's garage for first start of Dad's Truck, and going to Indy 500. That is just awesome!
I absolutely love this truck. New enough to not be a huge hassle, but old enough to be "simple". Such a timeless truck body.
In my eyes Eric it was you who started all these great automotive channels on RUclips. You were the first auto repair channel I ever watched on youtube, it was probably an honor for those guys to be there when you started your engine!
THIS WAS LIKE WATCHING THE OSCARS!

That look on your face when the coolant burped at 46:03 was hilarious!
Thought I saw steam like he blew a head gasket, my heart dropped for him for a moment.
I have a 1994 k1500-my dad's old truck given to me for graduation years ago. In the middle of restoration at the moment (couldn't bear to part with it). Love these trucks. So easy to work on!

Gracias Eric y a todos los que hicieron posible este exelente video
Thanks Eric and everyone who made this great video possible
Fantastic brother, loved this series. Looking forward to seeing your father's reaction to all your hard work!
I feel for the Humble Mechanic. I used to work on VWs and Audis. It makes me appreciate how easy it it to repair and maintain Toyotas.
Last time I heard “my hangers will make up the difference” we ran the car open header 😂
Wow! ETCG had an all star cast on hand to help start the truck
Great job Eric. That engine looks beautiful.
All of my favorite inspirations in one spot! Damn.
Remember, manufactures design for assembly line efficiency, not for repair efficiency. Anytime you run into a "what were they thinking putting this here", you just ran into an assembly line sequence wall. Turned out great.. It's a great truck.
This moment was worth the wait. Sounds incredible!
Funny, I watch all of your guests/friends channels. I get awsome information from all. Nice job!!! Love all you guys, Peace and stay wrenching.....

Love how you made the custom upper radiators hose
You had about every wrench RUclipsr aside from mightycarmods, heck of a cast you have in that shop. Can't wait to see all the following content.
So I’ve been watching you’re videos and it’s making me want to build my 350 to a 383 in my 95! Hopefully goes well.

Man that Chevy 383 Stroker sounds beastly.
Dear erick thanks for upload the first start of the dad truck on a auto swap and a 383ci stroker and i wish you make a video of the truck with headers and i got one question about what efi you used in the truck?

@ericthecarguy but did you change the blinker fluid?
Sounds good! Congrats!
Have you done a video on how the ingersoll rand cordless tools have been for you? How have they compared to others you've used?
No I have not. Sorry.

Another great job Eric!!!
