    I like this method of gathering newly discovered tracks into one place. On Spotify I find myself getting introduced to new music and thinking "I will love this, but it's not my mood right now" and the track can get lost later in the oceans of playlists :) Thanks for the suggestion!

    Thank you for your insight! When I realized I couldn't find what I was looking for when I wanted to listen to some nostalgic music, I realized it was time to organize my playlists. This helped me find my ideal way to sort all my playlists.
    It's been a monumental task with over 6000+ songs but it makes me feel much better knowing I can find what I want to listen to when I'm in the mood.
    With Spotify's folder play feature it makes it nice to listen to a whole Parent Genre but also allows me to listen to a specific sub-genre of my choice when I want.

    Found a Few new things, one is after experience of using Spotify and trying/attempting to understand its organization techniques, a big-tip is to use the 'Sort-By' Tab at the top.. what it does is organize music/tunes alphabetically.. not only does it do this, but it also... amalgamates the tunes so they are together than separate... What I've been doing a lot in my Spotify is Going through each of my playlists and making sure its well organized within each playlist.. so its all displayed in a clear and cohesive way... and a lot of it was a mess frankly, so I started pulling/dragging the tunes so they were together under one artist... rather than many tunes of same artist being scattered everywhere in that playlist, to form like 'Clusters of tunes in one artist, repeat and repeat again etc'.. This was the first step to cleaning up my Library of songs/tunes which was scattered/randomised... the 2nd is obviously organizing them so they appear in alphabetical/chronological order.. I found rather than actually organizing the tunes myself (which is still an option...), I can click at the top of the playlist where it says 'artist' and it organizes all the artists in alphabetical order, so its best of both worlds.. you get them clustered together under same artist over them being scattered (but under the same artist).. but of course its Alphabetical as well so you can go down and clearly locate the track your looking for.. I also found another feature not too long ago also, which was views.. it seems like a small feature but its actually huge, the implications are biggggg.. since you can pick out the best tracks that way, and organize tracks by views as well, it becomes another criterion for sorting/organizing your tracks.. with most viewed/popular at the top, to least popular at the bottom.. again just another set/layer of organization... you can really get creative with spotify with the tools they provide.. using them in different ways.. to your own strength/source of inspiration.. I find the longer the time you spend on Spotify alone the more creative you are.. you naturally pick up on things.. and you have these brainwaves in the moment that really changes the way that you use it/see it and of course listen to music...

    I like your video and the idea. I have the same thing but double, so for genres and for moods. Also, I'm thinking about adding a time category (90s pop is different to 2020s pop). The problem with that is that for each song you have to manually add it to multiple playlists. So, what I actually would like to have from spotify is three things: 1) Feature to define "Tags categories" for your complete spotify account 2) Feature to define "Tags" for each song for each tag category. 3) Feature to automatically create playlists based on a selection of tags. So let's hope some spotify guy sees this comment^^

    • @nilspaar
      @nilspaar 2 года назад +1

      Nice, I think 'm going to create more mood based playlists as well, keeps things a bit more free and creative. The implementation of tags would be awesome, I would also love to see a rating functionality as I am now organizing playlists manually on track preference. Basically it's becoming more like Notion than, and though I think it's a great add-on for us, I'm quite skeptical if Spotify will ever do this. I think the power for the majority of its users is the extreme simplicity of the platform and all these add-ons would make things more confusing for the default user I assume.

      Make Mp3 Spotify Track.. Convert MP3 to Spotify-Format.. Basically Create your own Spotify Tunes using MP3 File as format.. and then register under Spotify.. to make it mainstream/official.. Enabling the USER themselves to determine a track that should be added to Spotify.. and Later AI.. in its place..

  • @samucancld

    Ain't no way you have that many playlists

  • @tommychappell6359
    @tommychappell6359 2 года назад +4

    Actually found yet another thing.. which is to place all tracks in one place.. so that you get an accurate counter of all music.. also if you have separate artists, may be an idea to have artists that have multiple-big hit songs at the top, and then artists with less top-hit songs at the bottom.. two quantities of conglomeration in terms of popularity.. I will compile all this into one comment.. since its frequent new ideas that have come in.. and yeah.. also the disadvantage there IS with folders of not being instantly accessible.. something I see as a surprisingly to the contrary, a weakness.. issue with things being ultra organized in filing system, is the files/folders themselves.. any time you have you to multi click into multiple folders is when it takes multiple clicks to get in.. whereas you could literally have Instant-Access Menu with Generic Themes/Headings.. I'm guessing by themes you meant like main themes, like main titles/headings... This is what I'm going to do, is have Separate Section, and Type the word 'Instant' in it.. short for 'Instant Access'.. well for me it would be Instant/Themes.. because I like to write words where they get smaller and smaller and smaller until they hit the bottom.. because your fixated upon than one theme, where that theme could be any number of letters/characters across, I like to have it all put at the top of Spotify Playlist, largest word to smallest word... another tip is to draw on your old playlists as inspiration.. may be something you can scavenge there/repurpose..

    Great video, came across this when I was searching answers to how to cope with the new Spotify update. I was heavy user of that 'drag from right column to the left column' too, but this update renders that action impossible as you cannot see 'Your Library' page in the main browsing area anymore, only in the left sidebar.
    Organizing my Spotify playlists now is as delighting as eating glass, how are you coping with these new updates?

    • @nilspaar

      Saw that too today. My first experience with the new UX isn't great, although the main setup I use still seems to be intact. My process mainly involves dragging tracks from to the different playlists in the left column, and I found that when you select "compact mode" in preferences the old setup still works.

    Found something you can improve on.. under each Category you could have a bunch of Artists/Albums/Singles, because say you open techno or something your then left with load of , Love channel name btw, like art of perfecting the system.. I absolutely love it.. actually you do have that, recall you saying you had individual tracks/artists and then generic theme/overarching theme up top with bunch of artists in that category.. still having issue with organizing multi-genre tunes.. as always..

    • @nilspaar
      @nilspaar 2 года назад +1

      You know I actually just started doing that! I now also have subfolders containing albums in each each subgenre. For multi-genre tracks I just create an experimental list and drop them in multiple lists. Does the trick for me :)

      @@nilspaar Oh and sort by year, like a year archive, organize it by like year 2022, and year 2021 and 2020 and going all the way back to however early you want.. 40's/30/20's even, (electro, swing, bebop etc), 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, 2010's, 2020's.
      Sort-by:
      1.Decade/Year/Time
      2.Artist
      3.Single
      4.Album
      5.Genre
      They are like Criterion..
      Research other playlists also.. Improving every day..
      I have a bunch of tunes, that all say 2022, only issue with that is that a lot of tunes I enjoy are not from 2022 but last month ago/year ago 2021.. it would be like playlist MADE in 2022 but with old school/nostalgia stuff or a 2022 playlist (with 2022 songs), why I think its good to separate them out.. but Organization the same.. like drop down menu, with 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009 etc etc to the time you were born/first started listening to music.. but then there you would either go back in decades or also singular years.. maybe decades, then drop down 10 years wrote down.. then next then next etc.. going up/down in 10's definitely makes sense.. nice round number, also that's what I used to do when I was studying music as a subject back at college.. if you went up/down in 5's well now you can't call it 20's 10's 00's, 90's, 80's, 70's, 60's, 50's 40's and so on.. because they would all equate to difference of 10's in years... like 2010's, wouldn't be 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, it would be 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019... then your on 2020/2020's but if you went up in 5's you could no longer call it that.. like 00's/10's/20's because it would only factor in the 1st five, not the ten that its mean to illustrate.. and being able to call it 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's, 20's is so nice.. because its a common practice and relates to our ways of categorizing years/time, and its a nice rounded number.. with precise scales of each 10 years..
      working it other way through 5's just wouldn't work, unless you specified that in description, like under drop down menu/category of 2010's, you then have further drop down menu, 2010-2015, 2015-2020. I guess it could work, but imo its easier to do it in 10's/tens.. though 5 is a nice factor of 10, just double to get 10.. 2's fit into 10's but its just not worth (might as well stick with 1's in years), 3's doesn't fit (9 closest, when times by 3), 4's doesn't fit (8 closest to ten you could get when times by 2), 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's again all wouldn't work (9 maybe, nearest/closest number to 10 without going into the next category, although doesn't really matter if it hits the next digit, like 2019, then 2020, then next category starts from same year also, 2020 2021, 2022, 2023 all the way to 2030 for the 20's category, when it actually gets to that year, for now we just do 2022).. 1's, 5's, 9's and 00's are best figures to categorize years by... 2's fit but again why would you do that when you can just do 1's and have precise year/measurement of time... 5's is good/does the job, not really preferable for me.. but its optional, nothing wrong with doing that as long as you specify under say 2010's drop down-menu/tab, 2010-2015, 2015-2020, or even do that and then go up in ones for every 5 years (even though 5 is even, its half of 10 which is a nice factor of 10 being even, or do me and go up in 1's in 10's.. the minute I stick/you stick a number to your playlist, is the time where you need to start organizing all the dates of your tracks.. like me with my new-year 2022 Fiesto playlist.. its a type of categorization, a unit of measurement.. the very act of adding a number, of any kind.. even just one adds new dimension to playlists..
      Hope this makes sense...

    u use that? believe me, theres a lot u wont find on there. its the thing with art...it usually finds U! hey, i dont judge u...its all Love, Bro. what do Aya n shrooms "tell" u? what do u think is the sound/language of the Youniverse? and wen decentralized audio platform? next level: how do algorithms "know" what feels how? we usually cant even really describe it in our own words, no? (maybe check book 'Sweet Anticipation' - David Huron)

    • @nilspaar
      @nilspaar 3 года назад +1

      I didn't know that book, just searched for it and it looks very interesting. Added to my list, thanks!
      The other points:
      Art finding you / not everything being on Spotify:
      Fair point, but you can also guide the process a bit imo. Spotify isn't the only source for music I use, but is definitely the place where I discover most new artists and music. I can't even count the amount of amazing artists I found on it. Often I then look them up on other platforms and follow them there in order to be exposed to everything they create. Plus you can also import tracks that are stored on your local device.
      Decentralized audio platform:
      I fully agree that I would want to see a decentralized form of Spotify (and even RUclips) in the future, this would be very desirable. This is actually also a topic Zowie and I are often syncing on; what is the right course of action here? To not use these platforms? They still are 10x better than the competition in terms of user experience. Not using them doesn't seem feasible, the only real solution I see is to either create a 10x better platform yourself, or to support others that are trying to build it.
      Algorithms:
      This I find to be one of the biggest challenges in modern life; living in harmony with algorithms. It's obvious that big tech algorithms are designed in order to keep you on their platform. Your attention is the most valuable asset. Working in digital marketing myself, I'm aware of this and it's an area I struggle with at times. However, I don't see these new algorithms necessarily as bad, or evil. I see them as a new phenomenon we have to learn to live with, and if we can master them, they have the potential to be an extremely powerful tool. Basically, I think one of the core tasks in the Information Age is to train your algorithms in order to let them work for you, in stead of the other way around.

    RUclips 'errored' my comment thank you much, comment go delete (spent so long thinking about). go kaput (how rude, what a bastard xd). just going to say spotify isn't best in terms of music, tidal and other music softwares similar are king (come with Hifi), howeverrr spotify does have one thing going and thats its user experience (king of experience). This is 1 thing that is currently weighing down spotify imo, also like where feature where could sort like 3 different 'sorts' for a list and name each. ( I like have them together by artist but then having best artists at top, to worst at lowest of list ). If they implement Hifi it will be number 1 for me. currently place at number 2. after Tidal. It will be number 1 by far (if implemented), also if they make sort-feature suggested (multi-sort), think would be cool (just me probably). like to keep super organized or try to. Also I haven't seen any updates in years. I know taking down lot of tracks for content in them deemed outside of policy. but apart from that same layout for ages, Im not complaining they don't need to change much. but just yeah haven't changed all that much (from what I have seen over years). I think they should have multi-feature thing where can drag and drop and decide on features (would be really nice edition). to customize experience more. cause like say haven't changed layout/much years. apart from odd things like maybe few extra recommendations stuff. terms of overall experience its definitely in number 1 I just wish update soon, cause havent seen new features for ages. I think good criticism. would make user experience better/comfortable/with more customizability/control, and fun. also well done on playlist (holy crap), god tierrr. maybe not opening statement lol, but everything apart from top tier.
    also what was thing, like sort by genre/sort by mood, sort by theme? how many main ways do people look for music. I remember saying ages ago but not shown here.
