I implemented the 12 and 12 policy back in 2006. I am glad to see it is still in effect in a high-volume system-24 hours without a break on an ambulance leads to sleep deprivation errors.

That was my life for 37 years. The last 26 years 3 months I was on the full time side. My world rotated around 72 hours cycles. 24 hours on 48 hours off.

Going on 19 years inner city and even through a broken back n lots of rehab I still love my job. As far as sleep, I can sleep when I’m dead. :)
Be safe y’all! I’ve noticed this past year more and more of us are getting assaulted so never wear your stethoscope around your neck, never run on any scene, and watch each other’s 6, esp on highway TA’s.

Is the 12/12 done at every station? and do you get the last 12 on the rescue due to seniority??
The 12/12 was done no matter the seniority. There are 3 24 hour shifts so we would switch every other day. I would ride the ambulance first half and then switch to pumper last half. And vice verse! Gave everyone a break!

She works hard to ensure hatred and divisiveness are alive and well in the fire service.
She also suffers from a somewhat severe illness. TDS .

That’s where she obtained the skills necessary to seek retribution and revenge for firefighters expressing their first amendment RIGHTS at a recent promotion ceremony. She brought her pal, Queen Letitia James, another fellow sufferer of TDS. Both were heavily booed.

Very busy call volume! allowed everyone to get some sort of rest and eat. But the pumper can be as busy as the unit sometimes as well haha

my shift schedule was 24 hours on and off for 3 days in a row, and then you get 4 days off. There was usually overtime so I would always try to do that for extra money on my off days!
