Tifa's golden saucer date is so distinguished from the rest from walking to the ferriswheel to go leaving. It's clear as glass SE deliberately make it romantic. This is another proof of Tifa's canon couple. The others date, including Aerith's, they all refer to "another missions/adventure" before going back, except for Tifa.
I’ve said it many times regarding these two. Cloud without Tifa is nothing. She’s what pulls him back, grounds him, she is proof he is who he says he is. Without her he would become just an empty puppet for Sephiroth to control. It’s why Sephiroth is so dead set on trying to break them apart in rebirth. He knows he loses because of her. And yet, dare I say it, love endures. In the face of Cloud becoming just like Sephiroth, she doesn’t blow up at him, she doesn’t distance herself from him, and she doesn’t blame him for what he’s done. She listens to him and is there for him. Because he’s all she has left. Maybe that’s selfish of her. Maybe it’s selfish of her that she isn’t saying anything to him about their past. But in her mind he might disappear if she says anything. Like all the other people in her life that she’s loved. She can’t lose him too. These two broken individuals dancing around their real issues is so indicative of people who are in love but won’t talk about it. Tifa trying desperately to be there for him but also lies to him to keep a sense of stability, and Cloud, a shattered man with so many people influencing him on the inside. He can’t make heads or tails of what is really going on with him and her. Because Cloud doesn’t understand himself. How could he fully understand her? The lifestream segment and the highwind scenes are going to be the most important and emotional of next game. And I can’t wait to see how this relationship ends. The game tries very hard, and mostly succeeds, in making the player fall in love with Aerith over the first third of the OG game. It's all so that her death has maximum emotional impact on the player. However, we are not Cloud, and Cloud will always love Tifa, regardless of who you the player fall in love with as you watch the story unfold.
@@talmanes4589 I'm still amazed by the number of fans who don't realise choice is an illusion in this game. We can pick who our love interest is, it's down to player preference, right? So why don't Barrett or Yuffie or Red get a kiss on their date? All optional scenes are built on pre-existing dynamics; Aerith doesn't get a kiss because there's nothing in the cannon story that has built up to Cloud having overt romantic feeling towards her. Or with Barrett etc. But there _are_ overtly romantic moments with Tifa. Because she's Cloud's unambiguous love interest.
Yea, she does literally lead for a while in the back half of the story. Thinking about it more, she's the driving force behind a big chunk of the OG game when Cloud is out of commission.

Absolutely phenomenal. I loved your first Slow Burn video when it came out after Remake. It was my favorite cloti video, until I saw this one. You connect different scenes together so seamlessly and beautifully, I'm in awe. I never realized how similar, or identical actually, the scene of Tifa getting slashed by Sephiroth at the mt Nibel reactor and "Cloud" attacking her at the Gongaga reactor was until I saw this. I'm a 35 year old man and I'm embarrassed to admit how many times this game and also your videos make me tear up, but I can't help it. I rarely, extremely rarely even, tear up over fiction or movies etc, but Cloud and Tifa, their journey, their undying loyalty and love for eachother is something so special and unique that we don't really get to experience anywhere else. I simply can't wait to see where they are taking it in part 3, I feel like a kid again waiting for christmas. I'm glad that you're back Sassy, your videos are truly a cut above the rest and hopefully there's more to come? 😃
That scene is interesting to me. I haven't played it yet, won't until it comes to PC but it looks like what they did was take the scene where sephiroth tries to make Cloud kill Aerith and make it this scene with Tifa. Is that more or less correct or is the other scene still there too and this one is just an addition? It would make more sense in some ways. Aerith needs to die in order to fulfill her role, Tifa has to live for hers, so trying to take Tifa off the board makes sense for him. Not to mention making Cloud kill her takes him off the board too once he realizes what he's done.

Your editing is incredible! From overlapping both of them saying, "I guess we'll find out." to the Gongaga/Nibelheim back and forth around 2:15, fantastic stuff! I definitely feel like they wanted those parallels to be more obvious in the game proper but given how massive the game is and how much there is to do between all of the scenes, very easy to miss or outright forget. Seeing both Cloud and Tifa's entire story summed up like this, I never truly realized just how different Cloud is when talking to Tifa, like with her is when the real Cloud shines the brightest. I adore how every relationship Cloud has with every party member feels unique, whether romantic or platonic. Thank you for making me appreciate this masterpiece of a game even more! I most certainly look forward to your part 3 =) Keep up the great work friend!

And we feel it bothering us. Not awkward like with Jessie but he's clearly not comfortable. With Tifa it's always different. When Sephiroth isn't playing puppeteer, everything still happens naturally between them. Shyness is their only obstacle. I want to say that when Aerith does everything to provoke something and Cloud is looking for an escape, Tifa is always afraid of doing too much. And that’s where our heroic phrase lands: “Not one bit.” ! During his meeting, Barret advises Cloud to go for it and not let good opportunities pass him by. Cloud is the one who reaches out. Even Yuffie bombards Cloud with information about Tifa to make him react. She sees their closeness and loves to tease. The three-star answer for Aerith on the Nibelheim Water Tower is about Tifa. When Tifa takes Cloud's hand in Chapter 8 in front of the Ferris Wheel, Cloud's face shows an expression of panic but it is not embarrassment. It's more like The Office meme "Oh my god, okay it's happening, everyone stay calm.". I'm not saying that Cloud doesn't feel anything towards Aerith, but I think he sees her mostly as a moral compass. An imperishable light that can galvanize everyone. No one can be indifferent to Aerith's purity (except psychopaths). He feels responsible for her. He wants to protect her because she represents a form of hope. His emotions for Tifa have a more human and deeper scope. Emotions that sometimes manage to bring back the Cloud she knew and who hides behind her trauma. That's how love works. And to add a more meta layer, in Inside Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the speakers talk about Tifa, evoking the pride they have in having developed her relationship with Cloud so well (they even mention a special scene with her if the affinity between the two rises) where for Aerith, they keep coming back to her responsibility as the last Cetra as well as her attachment to her friends. Even Nojima, when talking about "No Promises to Keep", says that it's not even about Cloud or even Zack but about her emotions about what she went through with Ifalna then Elmyra, her loved ones and the value of his role as Cetra. The only thing that can stand in the way of all this is Ultimania but if it brushes aside the value of the romance with Tifa, it will just mean that they took the time to write a whole logical emotional progression between the two characters for nothing and it will no longer be us who will be wrong to hope for something but them to hand out carrots while hiding the stick.

I dislike everything about her especially the way she clings to Cloud making him extremely uncomfortable and the way she obviously tries to make Tifa Jealous by constantly going on about her and Cloud going on dates. In Tifa's first date in Gold Saucer (chapter 8), Aerith admits she's jealous cause she's lonely in Speed Square but she's also worry about if Cloud and Tifa are still angry. Same thing at Kalm tower. She talk about the way Tifa and Cloud talked in the night. Maybe, Aerith isn't bad with Tifa. Maybe, she try to force her to react and take the lead too. But i have to say something... In the OG timeline, Advent Children show us how Cloud try to get away of his family and Tifa cause of his guilt on Aerith's death. But he learn to accept the past and to move on... We don't know how he changes after that. Dirge of Cerberus wasn't very generous about him and the others. If he didn't change and stay cold with Tifa, he's an ingrate. A big asshole ! I think your right. In remake it just went over my head. I generally dont care about these romance sub plots nor can I relate ever. But this one somehow hit me. It feels part of the story and theme of VII. In OG it was present but not properly fleshed out. As with allot of plot points. But after playing Rebirth I went back to Remake and began to get the sense the devs and story writers have a big plan for them. Not for the sake of shipping or something. But because this is the backbone of the the games story. It was never Aeriths death. Reading your comment was like reading my own thoughts echoed back to me. You said it perfectly and people seem to resonate equally to what you said. I just hope they dont shy away from going all out on this in part 3. Really giving them allot of screentime and development. OG frustrated me with how some words were not said or milestones given proper buildup or pay off. Rebirth obviously couldn’t be to much about this with Aeriths fate and friendship being incredibly important. Remake took place within the span of 4-5 days of them reuniting and half of that was during crisis. But part 3 has that opportunity and obligation. In the end after all of this I’ve begun to realize where before I felt OG was about death, acceptance, identity etc. That the true story here is about friendship, hope and desire. A desire for your hopes and dreams to become reality even in an uncaring world with misery and pain. Who better to embody this part of the narrative theme than these two? Playing through all 3 games will be incredibly special. Not just because of the scope and massive story. But also because these relationships will become fully clear and all details will make sense. They should absolutely do this with every party member. I think the GS dates perfectly suggest they plan to. Cloud has a special unique bond with every party member. No date is the same. No character arc is the same. This is just the romantic one. FF has had so many lame romantic story plots. FF13, FF15, hell even FF8 to a degree. I always roll my eyes and wish they made it less about that. But with FF7 I feel the opposite. They should for a change go all out. Like Aerith once said “follow your heart”

I'll admit when I first played FFVII back in '97, I was one of those guys that didn't make it past the first disc. I couldn't get into it; I had a bad gameplay experience. I had just come from playing Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG and was playing the PC port on a crappy Pentium. The random battles and long load times were keeping me from enjoying the game. But even so, as a 16 year old boy, at the time I was rooting for Cloud to end up with Tifa. For all the silly, superficial reasons of a teenage boy. Now as a 43 year old man, having gone through high school, starting college, finishing college, starting a career then changing careers (twice), marriage, successes, failures, the ups and downs of, you know, life... I'm rooting for Tifa. Life really threw a lot of crap her way and she handles it like a f^%$^% boss. She deserves the best. I don't know if it's the whole "I don't see myself in Cloud's shoes anymore, I see myself in hers" or what. I just know she better win out in the end and find happiness. I want the sappiest, tear-jerking "happily ever after" like you see in kDramas for her. Is that odd for a middle age man to say...that I relate more to Tifa? @@sebastianmarquez3014 I think Tifa’s struggle is admirable and even at times relatable (god forbid anyone lose as much as she loses before she’s the legal drinking age) So, no! Not weird at all. I don’t necessarily relate to all the strife she’s endured, but I do empathize. Cloud is the one guy who didn’t view her as a trophy. And while they may have lost multiple homes, they still have each other. There’s something really beautiful about Cloti being one another’s home. And the Re-Trilogy is making it pretty clear it was always Tifa for Cloud. So I’m very excited to see their love really blossom in part 03 and this slow burn turn into a full on inferno 🔥❤️🔥🔥

All optional scenes are built on pre-existing dynamics; Aerith doesn't get a kiss because there's nothing in the cannon story that has built up to Cloud having overt romantic feeling towards her. Or with Barrett etc. But there _are_ overtly romantic moments with Tifa. Because she's Cloud's unambiguous love interest.

Absolutely phenomenal. I loved your first Slow Burn video when it came out after Remake. It was my favorite cloti video, until I saw this one. You connect different scenes together so seamlessly and beautifully, I'm in awe. I never realized how similar, or identical actually, the scene of Tifa getting slashed by Sephiroth at the mt Nibel reactor and "Cloud" attacking her at the Gongaga reactor was until I saw this.
I'm a 35 year old man and I'm embarrassed to admit how many times this game and also your videos make me tear up, but I can't help it. I rarely, extremely rarely even, tear up over fiction or movies etc, but Cloud and Tifa, their journey, their undying loyalty and love for eachother is something so special and unique that we don't really get to experience anywhere else. I simply can't wait to see where they are taking it in part 3, I feel like a kid again waiting for christmas.

That scene is interesting to me. I haven't played it yet, won't until it comes to PC but it looks like what they did was take the scene where sephiroth tries to make Cloud kill Aerith and make it this scene with Tifa. Is that more or less correct or is the other scene still there too and this one is just an addition? It would make more sense in some ways. Aerith needs to die in order to fulfill her role, Tifa has to live for hers, so trying to take Tifa off the board makes sense for him. Not to mention making Cloud kill her takes him off the board too once he realizes what he's done.

Your editing is incredible! From overlapping both of them saying, "I guess we'll find out." to the Gongaga/Nibelheim back and forth around 2:15, fantastic stuff! I definitely feel like they wanted those parallels to be more obvious in the game proper but given how massive the game is and how much there is to do between all of the scenes, very easy to miss or outright forget. Seeing both Cloud and Tifa's entire story summed up like this, I never truly realized just how different Cloud is when talking to Tifa, like with her is when the real Cloud shines the brightest. I adore how every relationship Cloud has with every party member feels unique, whether romantic or platonic. Thank you for making me appreciate this masterpiece of a game even more! I most certainly look forward to your part 3 =) Keep up the great work friend!

When Aerith tries something with Cloud, she always tries to force things. And we feel it bothering us. Not awkward like with Jessie but he's clearly not comfortable.
With Tifa it's always different. When Sephiroth isn't playing puppeteer, everything still happens naturally between them. Shyness is their only obstacle. I want to say that when Aerith does everything to provoke something and Cloud is looking for an escape, Tifa is always afraid of doing too much. And that’s where our heroic phrase lands: “Not one bit.” !
During his meeting, Barret advises Cloud to go for it and not let good opportunities pass him by. Cloud is the one who reaches out.
Even Yuffie bombards Cloud with information about Tifa to make him react. She sees their closeness and loves to tease.
The three-star answer for Aerith on the Nibelheim Water Tower is about Tifa.
When Tifa takes Cloud's hand in Chapter 8 in front of the Ferris Wheel, Cloud's face shows an expression of panic but it is not embarrassment. It's more like The Office meme "Oh my god, okay it's happening, everyone stay calm.".
I'm not saying that Cloud doesn't feel anything towards Aerith, but I think he sees her mostly as a moral compass. An imperishable light that can galvanize everyone. No one can be indifferent to Aerith's purity (except psychopaths). He feels responsible for her. He wants to protect her because she represents a form of hope.
His emotions for Tifa have a more human and deeper scope. Emotions that sometimes manage to bring back the Cloud she knew and who hides behind her trauma.
That's how love works.
And to add a more meta layer, in Inside Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the speakers talk about Tifa, evoking the pride they have in having developed her relationship with Cloud so well (they even mention a special scene with her if the affinity between the two rises) where for Aerith, they keep coming back to her responsibility as the last Cetra as well as her attachment to her friends. Even Nojima, when talking about "No Promises to Keep", says that it's not even about Cloud or even Zack but about her emotions about what she went through with Ifalna then Elmyra, her loved ones and the value of his role as Cetra. The only thing that can stand in the way of all this is Ultimania but if it brushes aside the value of the romance with Tifa, it will just mean that they took the time to write a whole logical emotional progression between the two characters for nothing and it will no longer be us who will be wrong to hope for something but them to hand out carrots while hiding the stick.

I must be a psychopath, because I honestly HATE aerith. I dislike everything about her especially the way she clings to Cloud making him extremely uncomfortable and the way she obviously tries to make Tifa Jealous by constantly going on about her and Cloud going on dates.
Clouds body language every time aerith does this is so uncomfortable, he very clearly does not like it.
Meanwhile aerith is like - haha Tifa look, I'm trying to steal your boyfriend.. hahahaha sucka.

Ahah. Aerith is an incredible girl but I really know what you mean. But i also think Aerith is a victim. I have to add three things.
1 : There is a hole in her heart. And she can't live with her loneliness. When she always take the lead, that's because she's afraid to lost him one more time. I really hope Zack will have his chance to come back. She starts to love Cloud cause he looks like him. In her Gold Saucer date, she says it changes. That now she wants to be with Cloud. But... (and one more time she's à victim) she don't even know him... I mean... He's not really Cloud anymore cause of his trauma. She's in love with a lie. Tifa is the only member of the crew who really know him and how to talk to the person behind the lie.
2 : Am i the only one who think Aerith looks like Claudia Strife ? I mean... Watch one more time the Claudia's behavior in chapter 1 and keep it in your mind. It must be compared to Aerith's behavior. Sometimes, they look the same. Is there anyone in Cloerith Team can understand that, if Cloud loves Aerith, that's mean he has a very deep Oedipus complex ? Aerith spends her time mothering him !
3 : That's a theory but... Is she being provocative to force Tifa to free herself from her shyness ? In Aerith's date in Remake front of her house, Aerith warns Cloud that he wouldn't fall in love with her. In Rebirth, we know that she lost memories cause of the... in french we call them "Filleurs". She knew her fate. And she know how it's going to affect everybody. Maybe, she tryed to prepare her friends about what's coming. Also, i say it one more time but the three star answer with Aerith at Nibelheim is the answer where Cloud admits that he looks Tifa's window when they were children. That means Aerith is happy about Cloud's feelings on Tifa. In Tifa's first date in Gold Saucer (chapter 8), Aerith admits she's jealous cause she's lonely in Speed Square but she's also worry about if Cloud and Tifa are still angry. Same thing at Kalm tower. She talk about the way Tifa and Cloud talked in the night. Maybe, Aerith isn't bad with Tifa. Maybe, she try to force her to react and take the lead too.
But i have to say something... In the OG timeline, Advent Children show us how Cloud try to get away of his family and Tifa cause of his guilt on Aerith's death. But he learn to accept the past and to move on... We don't know how he changes after that. Dirge of Cerberus wasn't very generous about him and the others. If he didn't change and stay cold with Tifa, he's an ingrate. A big asshole ! Cause that means he prefer to think about the ghost of a girl than the one who still loves him.

#1 - I agree, but I think its not so much she is starting to love Cloud (she has no idea who he is) She absolutely wants to experience being in love, but at the expense of someone she doesnt know and doesnt love her. 🤢

#3 - I know FF7Rb has really gone out of its way to show that Tifa and aerith are friends, it's just not what I would want in a friend. If my BFF is having relationship problems, I'm not going to go take her man out on dates, hang off him and try to make him to pretend to love me, know what I mean?...
aerith is conflicted, she wants love, wants to experience it before uh ya know, things happen but she does also understand that Cloud and Tifa have feelings for each other. So while I can understand the take that she is trying to help them get together, while also trying to figure out her feelings, its HOW she does it that pisses me off.
Addendum: In Advent Children and other extended works, it has been explained why Cloud leaves..
Firstly his illness and secondly his guilt about the happiness he feels being with Tifa and kids which leads to depression thinking how he failed his 2 best friends by "letting them die" (which he didnt)
Aerith and Zack later let him know it was never his fault, they are happy and he should be too and that Cloud should forgive himself (which he does and goes back to Tifa and family).

What makes me out of my mine is the way that the Cloerith team says Cloti is just fan fantasies. A way to project our feelings about Tifa... But... In Dissidia, Cloud is so worry about Tifa's fate in God's War than his pray is understand by Cosmos who is touched by his feelings. In Kingdom Hearts, Aerith don't worry about Cloud's quest cause she knows that his Light will protect him and will take him back at home. And who is the Light who give him the strenght to continue his battle with Sephiroth ? Tifa. I know. Not the same universe and not really the same characters... But still... When we know how Kairi's Light and Feelings healed and protected Sora when he was an heartless... And when you know the obvious relationship between Sora and Kairi... It makes you think how Square/Nomura sees Cloud and Tifa. This can't be just fan's fantasies...
I think your right. In remake it just went over my head. I generally dont care about these romance sub plots nor can I relate ever. But this one somehow hit me. It feels part of the story and theme of VII. In OG it was present but not properly fleshed out. As with allot of plot points. But after playing Rebirth I went back to Remake and began to get the sense the devs and story writers have a big plan for them. Not for the sake of shipping or something. But because this is the backbone of the the games story. It was never Aeriths death.
Reading your comment was like reading my own thoughts echoed back to me. You said it perfectly and people seem to resonate equally to what you said. I just hope they dont shy away from going all out on this in part 3. Really giving them allot of screentime and development. OG frustrated me with how some words were not said or milestones given proper buildup or pay off. Rebirth obviously couldn’t be to much about this with Aeriths fate and friendship being incredibly important. Remake took place within the span of 4-5 days of them reuniting and half of that was during crisis. But part 3 has that opportunity and obligation.
In the end after all of this I’ve begun to realize where before I felt OG was about death, acceptance, identity etc. That the true story here is about friendship, hope and desire. A desire for your hopes and dreams to become reality even in an uncaring world with misery and pain. Who better to embody this part of the narrative theme than these two? Playing through all 3 games will be incredibly special. Not just because of the scope and massive story. But also because these relationships will become fully clear and all details will make sense. They should absolutely do this with every party member. I think the GS dates perfectly suggest they plan to. Cloud has a special unique bond with every party member. No date is the same. No character arc is the same. This is just the romantic one.
FF has had so many lame romantic story plots. FF13, FF15, hell even FF8 to a degree. I always roll my eyes and wish they made it less about that. But with FF7 I feel the opposite. They should for a change go all out. Like Aerith once said “follow your heart”

I'll admit when I first played FFVII back in '97, I was one of those guys that didn't make it past the first disc. I couldn't get into it; I had a bad gameplay experience. I had just come from playing Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG and was playing the PC port on a crappy Pentium. The random battles and long load times were keeping me from enjoying the game.
But even so, as a 16 year old boy, at the time I was rooting for Cloud to end up with Tifa. For all the silly, superficial reasons of a teenage boy.
Now as a 43 year old man, having gone through high school, starting college, finishing college, starting a career then changing careers (twice), marriage, successes, failures, the ups and downs of, you know, life... I'm rooting for Tifa. Life really threw a lot of crap her way and she handles it like a f^%$^% boss. She deserves the best. I don't know if it's the whole "I don't see myself in Cloud's shoes anymore, I see myself in hers" or what. I just know she better win out in the end and find happiness. I want the sappiest, tear-jerking "happily ever after" like you see in kDramas for her. Is that odd for a middle age man to say...that I relate more to Tifa? To see the game through her eyes? lol, it is what it is I suppose. lovely video, see y'all in part 3 :)
@@sebastianmarquez3014 I think Tifa’s struggle is admirable and even at times relatable (god forbid anyone lose as much as she loses before she’s the legal drinking age) So, no! Not weird at all. I don’t necessarily relate to all the strife she’s endured, but I do empathize. Cloud is the one guy who didn’t view her as a trophy. And while they may have lost multiple homes, they still have each other. There’s something really beautiful about Cloti being one another’s home. And the Re-Trilogy is making it pretty clear it was always Tifa for Cloud. So I’m very excited to see their love really blossom in part 03 and this slow burn turn into a full on inferno 🔥❤️🔥🔥
