- Hello beautiful… In this Fall Recipe 2021 video My dad is showing us How to make the BEST sweet potato pie you will ever eat! It is a Fall Dessert Recipe 2021. His southern sweet potato pie recipe comes from his Alabama roots. I hope you will try this one! …. consider me your virtual godmother. Follow me to your happier life. The Recipe:
2 Pie Crusts
3.5 pounds sweet potatoes
3 eggs
1/4 cup Self-Rising Flour
1/4 cup buttermilk
1.5 cups sugar
1/2 stick melted butter
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tsp lemon extract
2 Tsp Vanilla extract
1.5 Tsp Cinnamon
1 Tsp Nutmeg
Clean and Boil sweet potatoes until very soft. Allow to cool to the touch.
Preheat Oven to 300 Fahrenheit. Peel sweet potatoes and place in large bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well. Pour into pie crusts sprinkled with sugar. Bake 2.5 hours. Increase oven temperature to 325 Fahrenheit, bake 30 more minutes. Remove from oven. Allow to cool thoroughly. Enjoy.

I wanted to try a new sweet potato pie recipe this year. I’ve tried a few different sweet potato pie recipes on RUclips. I never tried the recipe with buttermilk. Glad I came across this recipe. Just saw this. Wow he remind me of my dad. I loved hear about him growing up in Louisiana. It seems like even though times were hard back then they always had a good time growing up and being with their parents that's what it's all about. What a blessing to had the parents I had and my brothers and sister. There was never a Sunday that went by that we didn't have just our family or other family members coming in and my mother would just get up and cook a dinner that was just amazing I wish I had that Talent. This is a simple old school Southern Sweet Potato Pie recipe. My grandfather made his pies exactly like this. Grand daddy never used a mixer, never worried about the strings and his pies had a lumpy appearance.
