I love the pioneer woman fabrics. They are no longer available at my Walmart. Last year I bought two different lines. I have so much fabric to make several quilts. I’ve made a couple of charity quilts. The money I used to buy the pioneer woman fabric was a refund from a fellow in my zoom Bible Study group. We went in on a school supply project together last year and so he sent me a check to pay for his part of it. I took that money and bought fabric at Walmart. You can imagine how how far his money went. Fast forward to this year, his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. So I made her a quilt out of the pioneer woman fabric and got it into the mail to her. Oh my goodness, what a surprise that was, and how appreciated.
I love those transfers. My grandmother and I added them to tea towels for her kitchen. She would embroidery and I used the paints that came in tubes (like toothpaste) with the ball like point that were permanent. I so wish I had those precious towels. 😊
My mom used to do that too. She also made me skirts and dresses and would add that kind of painting/embroidery. The biggest brand was Tri-Chem. I did a little bit too, but I didn’t enjoy it like my mom did.
I'm an Aussie who visits Walmart every time I visit the States. Everything is so cheap there, I love Walmart! I stock up on things like Wrap & Zap for less than $6, here in Australia it's $25. And Fiskars rotary blade cutters, a 5 pack for less than $20 there is $45 here. Can't wait to get back there.
@@ISeeStarsQuilting I think everything is cheap over there. I walk around your supermarkets and variety stores like Target and just shake my head in disbelief at the low prices.
I do the same thing, can’t wait to shop craft anything in the states, i usually come home with a large suitcase with fabric only . It’s the verity of stores with cheaper price range , where my son lives he has , Walmart, Joann’s, hobby lobby, 👍🏼 guess where I spend heaps of time .🤣🤣🥴
I don't go inside Wal-Mart very often, but I do curbside grocery pickup at WM every week. I love that I can include thread, basting spray, etc., with my grocery order without going inside the store or making a special trip to JoAnn. I do a lot of charity quilting and I use Waverly Inspirations solids for backing. Affordable, 100% cotton, feels good and comes in a myriad of colors. One of the WM stores in my town has bolts of fabric, and once in a while I'll pick up backing fabric there. However, the department is usually unmanned, and getting someone to cut takes a long time. If I don't need the fabric right away, ordering online is a better solution for me, by-the-yard or in pre-cut yardage. I just have to plan ahead and wait for the mail.
Waverly is NOT a Walmart brand of fabric. The company was founded in 1923. It was purchased in 2008 by Iconix Brand Group. It's a family of brands, which includes Waverly Inspirations (available at WalMart). I have been purchasing Waverly fabric for well over 40 years. It's only been in the last 10 years or less that I have seen it at WalMart.
That is true. Thank you for pointing that out. I was going to add a note on screen, but forgot. I'll add it to the description so someone isn't disappointed. 💖
My machine uses specific bobbins. Also don’t use or buy cheap thread. I also fell in a Walmart parking lot, chasing my cart so it wouldn’t hit another vehicle. I should have known at 65, not to run because I have had a knee replacement and both hips replaced. 🤦♀️😂🤣😂🤣 What was I thinking?

Was in our local Walmart Thursday and was told they were going to stop selling bolt fabric. He said all they would be carrying precut only and that was suppose to be by the end of the year. He cut my fabric and it was already on clearance. I reminded him they tried this years ago and it didn’t go over and he said yes but this time they are planning on removing the cutting table. It took 3 people coming by and calling for someone to come to the fabric table. He made asked if I had hit the button and I said no , because they had removed the help button while he was off. He then stated well they’ve started already. So I figure we need to let Walmart know we want to keep our fabric by the bolt.
Thank you for this video. I find my self getting caught up in buying items from a local quilt shop (which I love). This video is so helpful for anyone who needs/wants to stay within a budget (me).
I belong to a Quilt group, and we were discussing types of thread to use. They specifically said not to use coats and Clarks because it sheds and gunks up your machine. Inside Clyde is the one that they suggested I think that’s how it spelled.
Hi I just wanted to let you know that Waverly fabric has been around for a long time. Many years ago you could only special order Waverly products through special order. They started with wall paper and had special fabrics that coordinated with the wall paper. They have come a long way. They now have many different patterns and products with the Waverly brand.
I'm close by 😊 Also while you're in Toronto, you might go to the museum as they are displaying quilts made in Canada (old ones 1850) ROM aka Royal Ontario Museum. From June to November.
Love shopping for craft and quilting supplies at Walmart...but I noticed..the steam fast mini iron in the craft department was one price, but I found the same one over with the irons and ironing boards for a different price 😳
Thanks for a great podcast showing craft supplies at Walmart. I have one of their Superstores within 2 miles and they don’t have near the supplies your store has. When I see monofilament thread I buy it all since I use it sometimes for small wall quilts where I just use up fabric. They were totally out for months. No bolt fabric, very few small packs of fabric. Love your store. Thanks again.
While in Toronto, The Roral Ontario museum has a special exhibit on Quilts: Made in Canada. The museum has a great dinosaur exhibit along with a bat cave...great place. Toronto also has a huge Ripley Aquarium. Check to see if there is a ball game on at the "skydome". So many great things to do.
When my children were younger we were in Toronto. There was a museum that had activities for children. I don't know how old your children are. Didn't know that you were married with children. You look so young. I really liked your tour of Walmart. I haven't been inside since before Covid. Thanks 4 sharing and glad you didn't have any problems
I have found Walmart fabrics to be as good as those in my local quilt shop and the prices are much better. Makes me wonder why prices are so much higher for the fabrics in my quilt shop.
This was very enjoyable! Walmart is my 1st choice for fabric because I think it's a good value. JoAnn's has long lines for cutting, then long lines at check out. I absolutely love the Waverly brand- the selection is amazing! So perhaps you've lost the curse. It seems like you got out of there just fine😂
Those 4 yard cuts are broadcloth fabric it is thinner but it is not regular quilting cotton. I have used it to quilt but I wouldn’t recommend mixing broadcloth with quilting cotton. It gets complicated
What a great tour! I saw several things for organizing that I didn’t know they had. I have bought ribbon, thread and zippers there. And of course fat quarters always jump in my basket of their own accord!
Just thought I’d mention that when you mentioned not needing cozy things because you live in Texas that’s true unless you live in the Texas Panhandle where I grew up. It’s located on the High Plains and gets very cold in the winter. :)
My husband was from Hamilton Ontario, south of Toronto, we were there for just a few days several years ago, I highly recommend Niagara Falls. It's about 2 hrs from Toronto, but I understand there is a train you can take.
I have sensory processing issues, so I rarely go into big stores anymore. I would consider it potentially worth my while in order to pick up some of those cotton fabrics and threads. I try really hard to be mindful of the fiber content of the fabric I work with. I tend to go for natural fibers like cotton and linen over polyester type fabrics.
I have sensory processing issues too. I get it. Walmart is more of a nightmare sometimes than a playground! Always weigh out the benefits and take care of yourself first 🥰🥰
I don't shop that often at Walmart, for fabric I'd rather go to my quilt store, Joann's or even Hobby Lobby but I have bought a few yards there ( decent quality) and some quilting notions at Walmart. I do buy the Coats and Clark thread at Walmart when they put them on sale, got 10 white and 5 black for 0.50 each. I would NOT buy the "bundles" of multicolored sewing thread at Walmart again; I did get some and they kept breaking in my machine. Coats and Clarks is not expensive but great quality. Just buy the ones you need.
Hook and loop generic is excellent quality at Walmart. Generally it is placed on a bottom shelf. It is priced so much less than Velcro. I made some blankets for newborn foals so needed a considerable amount for closures so was able to make the blanket for much less.
I think most super Walmarts would have this much. Smaller ones - of course, not so much. I've bought quite a stuff over the years at Walmart including spray, bobbins, interfacings, etc. In the past I bought fabric there. Often Walmarts will carry fabric of a university or college in the area as well. I also bought a couple of Pioneer Woman plates and put them in my suitcase to bring them back to Poland so we could use them here (just for my husband and me).
Toronto is an amazing place, be sure to book dinner at the Medieval Times - pricy but worth it - just be sure to get the VIP package so you can get front row seats! Ripley’s aquarium is so beautiful- and petting sting rays is so much fun, having dinner in the CNTower again pricy but food is amazing and the view is so good too. Disney Interactive is a great place for kids and adults too - be sure to do the VIP package for the extra perks.
Enjoying this video; however, a word about the packaged Pre-Cuts…, jelly roll specifically. Do not buy the jelly roll strips - period. They are poorly cut and they are bowed. I managed to make a table runner, but it was challenging and had a lot of waste. The same holds true for the JoAnn’s store brand for jelly rolls. The fat quarters and yardage, pre-cut yardage fabric are pretty good and I agree with you on those. About the thread, it’s okay thread, but be aware, you might need a slightly larger machine needle because it is a little thicker thread and will add bulk. Ask me how I know. That said, if that’s all you can afford, go for it. I will say, that I do use some of the fabric from Walmart as well as JoAnn’s. Walmart has come such a long way with their fabric quality overall. I hope you’ll continue to talk about places where you can purchase affordable fabrics and supplies. Thanks!!
Lots to do in Toronto. Like most large cities we also have areas specific to a culture, where you can eat to your heart’s content. So if you live Indian food, or Italian, or Greek you can find it here. St. Lawrence Market on the weekends, the Hockey Hall of Fame, and several great museums including the Bata Shoe museum and the Textile museum.
We've absolutely got the hockey Hall of Fame on our list. It's been my husband's dream forever and he is all of 5 years old every time we talk about it lol. We're such foodies... Most of our trips are planned eating hotspots with attractions in between 🤣🤣
I have the pioneer woman crochet hooks they are great. The really small ones I’ve seen a few on you tube do some cute earrings. I have the pioneer woman transfer you showed they are super cute
I’m impressed at how well-stocked and orderly the aisles are at your Walmart! Whenever I go to mine, those aisles often look something like the candy section after Halloween, all scribbly and scrambled and picked over 😢. Kudos to whoever is in charge of stocking the shelves at your Walmart 👍🏻
I might have "fixed" a few items laying flat on the shelves so my video didn't look like Walmart was ransacked lol I used to work as a shelver at a bookstore back in highschool. I can make some shelves look orderly if I need to 😂
Uhhh, totallyme too! My husband is always telling me, "You do not work here." Well, if I am looking for something then I organize - it's how I know what I've searched!
My local Walmart has a larger fabric and yarn section than yours. Also, note that you can order larger yardage amounts on line if you make note of the fabric specifics. Their cotton batting is a great price and I have purchased it on many occasions. Also, their upholstery foam forms are great price too. They sometimes have wide backing fabric on the bolt as well. Pricing is generally competitive or cheaper!
Can’t wait to go to Walmart when I visit USA in September….i bought a piece of fabric last year in the store with South Park design…still wondering what to do with it! Love new notebooks definitely with you there….thanks for the tour.
31:29 About 2 years ago, I found a full bolt of Halloween fabric. It has discreet spider webs on it, light gray background. I checked the price on it. Twenty -five cents a yard. I purchased the entire bolt. You mentioned Pioneer Woman items, I found mugs for 50 cents each. I love the price checker on their app. Love your videos.
I was looking to store and stack pre-curated quilt projects (ie monthly subscription boxes) and even build some of my own, and found the 12" x 12" x 3" clear scrapbook case by Simply Tidy at Michael's work perfectly. They have room for layer cakes or jelly rolls, threads, the patterns and even contrasting fabric. I think the item # is 10575615, and they are currently half off at $4.99.
I was just on your side of the border a couple days ago.....and Walmart is always one of my stops. JoAnn and Hobby Lobby as well. I picked up A Day at the Lake fat bundle and a one yard cut that I liked to go with it. Best deal was a $5. pr of jeans..... JoAnn was one yd Harry Potter and three coordinating one yard cuts for future quilt #2 Hobby Lobby was a bolt of harvest orange flannel for backing of a current quilt commission. One day of cross border shopping with a couple friends. Exchange is way better for you. Have a great vacation in the Toronto area. We shop Watertown as often as we can. Always a good time. Ps I used the faux pipping binding and it came out fabulous. Front machine stitched, hand stitched on the back. ❤😊
Dawn! Thats amazing to hear about the faux piping binding you did! I'm glad it worked to hand stitch the back for you too. It's good to know that it works 👏🏼👏🏼
My Walmart has just remodeled and they have put in the items that you are describing in your video. I went for the Disney fabric the Elsa and snowman style for my granddaughter in a (first time) 3 yard quilt. I find that the fabric is thin unlike MODA fabric but at that price . I remember previous remarks in your videos about fabrics and I am not a fabric snob, I could swear that you are in my store, Ha Ha
The ROM, especially the dinosaur exhibit is a big hit with kids. The St. Lawrence Market on a Saturday morning for a Carousel Bakery Peameal on a Bug for breakfast is a satisfying and reasonably priced breakfast. Follow that with a stroll along Front Street westward to see the Flat Iron building and behind it is Berczy Park with it's famous 'dog fountain'. Watch for the cat, watching the bird easter egg. Easy afternoon, is a trip to the Beach/Beaches, walk the boardwalk, take a swim and then wander up to Queen street (a block away) and have a dinner on a patio. (This is my neighbourhood so I can tell you that there's plenty of decent places to eat). Unless your heart is set on it, then skip the CN Tower and if you're coming by or have access to a car, Niagara Falls is an hour away, Niagara on the Lake has the butterfly conservatory and peaches/corn are in full swing in the next few weeks. Anything else you want to know (cuz I just stumbled on to your channel) hit me up.
My Granddaughter works at Michael's and told me they are getting fabric by the yard in for $5 since our Joann's is going our of business. I have no idea the quality but I was told it is happening at all Michael's stores if you have one in your area.
The jelly roll & charm square prints are decent. The solids are horrid. My walmart's main problem is that they don't stock well - if you stock things, then people buy them, and then you have to stock them again.
@@ISeeStarsQuilting yep.... I have done that, but I swear the same stockers must have programmed the website search! It helps that "my walmart"... is actually 3 within 10 miles, with another 3 or 4 very large stores across town. hoping for new fabrics next season.
Canadian national exhibition is on in Sept in Toronto in Aug, on exhibition grounds on lakeshore. There is also the Royal Ontario Museum ( on Bloor Street and St George St area, museum stop on subway.)
Toronto...King St W. Lots of fabric stores & Cdn $$ is 35% less than USD!!! Of course top of the CN Tower. Don't drive. Eatons Centre is nice but really just a big Mall. Have fun.
Check out the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). In Toronto - there is a specI also exhibit on Quilts: Made in Canada, and it has a great dinosaur exhibit, the Ripleys Aquarium is great too.
Wow, I want to go to your Walmart. Mine doesn't look anything like yours. I have got some good ideas from your video. Thanks sew much. Just subscribed.
The Walmarts are doing a lot of remodeling around here and doing away with the bolts and going with pre-cuts. If you are lucky to catch them at the beginning of the reset, you can get a lot of fabric at low-low prices. I'm dreading when they do the one by me, very little choices. I've never had an issue with Waverly fabrics.
I really want your Walmart. We have maybe a third of what you are showing.😢😊 I am in Oakville, which depending on traffic is anywhere from 40 minutes to 4 hours away from Toronto….lol…but not kidding. There are a ton of things to do on your vacation. Remember though, traffic will be horrendous so plan accordingly. With kids, I would say definitely go to the Ripley’s aquarium and Toronto Island Park, as well as the CN Tower. There are also the Royal Ontario Museum and the Art Gallery of Ontario. If you have a vehicle, I am sure the kids would love Canada’s Wonderland which again depending on traffic and where you are staying, is about an hour north of the city up highway 400. We also have a nice Zoo at the east end of the city. Toronto also has a mostly underground pedestrian walkway network in downtown Toronto that spans more than 30 kilometres of restaurants, entertainment, shopping, and services. You get there through the Subway. Good luck and I know you will find something to do. Also…..Welcome!

Awe so glad you were able to bring those lovely things home with you.
Thank you for all this wonderful information!!!!!
Thanks!!
Thank you for sharing.
I enjoy your videos. You exude positivity!!❤
That means so much, thank you for saying that. :)
The small cakes of cotton yarn are great for making wash rags.
Great idea!
Most of our trips are planned eating hotspots with attractions in between 🤣🤣
Forget the quilt basting sprays. Use Elmer’s School Glue instead. It’s cheap, doesn’t smell, and washes right out.
I have the pioneer woman crochet hooks they are great. The really small ones I’ve seen a few on you tube do some cute earrings.
I have the pioneer woman transfer you showed they are super cute
So glad nothing happened…. Maybe because you were filming and you brought all your friends along.😅
🎉I gotta get to Walmart ASAP! And leave my husband at home ❤
Lol or let him get lost in the tire and fishing section - there's a reason they're close but not right next to each other 😂
I’m impressed at how well-stocked and orderly the aisles are at your Walmart!
Your Walmart is soooo much better than ours.
im in Toronto. Ill send some information! Love your chanel 💕 💗 and your ideas!
Thank you for watching.
Loved the tour!
Great tip! And yes, more things are online for sure.
Can’t wait to go to Walmart when I visit USA in September….i bought a piece of fabric last year in the store with South Park design…still wondering what to do with it! Love new notebooks definitely with you there….thanks for the tour.
Happy shopping when you come. :)
Loving the yarn 🧶🧶🧶🧶 it's like a drug 😂😂😂😂 a Good drug 😂❤
31:29 About 2 years ago, I found a full bolt of Halloween fabric. It has discreet spider webs on it, light gray background. I checked the price on it. Twenty -five cents a yard. I purchased the entire bolt. You mentioned Pioneer Woman items, I found mugs for 50 cents each. I love the price checker on their app. Love your videos.
Wow! What a great find!!!
Dollar General now carries Cricket supplies, I love Waverly fabrics. I love Walmart and shop there all the time.
hmmmm.... perhaps I'll have to do a dollartree tour too 🥰🥰 Thanks for the heads up! I'll have to check it out too now.
@@ISeeStarsQuilting you're welcome
I was looking to store and stack pre-curated quilt projects (ie monthly subscription boxes) and even build some of my own, and found the 12" x 12" x 3" clear scrapbook case by Simply Tidy at Michael's work perfectly. They have room for layer cakes or jelly rolls, threads, the patterns and even contrasting fabric. I think the item # is 10575615, and they are currently half off at $4.99.
Wow, what a great deal.
I've never had the iron on templates just "wash away". That is amazing if they do these days!
Can you recommend a good rotary cutter? Thanks again for sharing your videos ... love them!
Olfa but not at walmart
Those four yard cuts were poly cotton. Most of us use all cotton if given a choice.
Wow. Lots of choices. Not in our store.😊
I have 2 Brother sewing machines I picked up at Wal Mart. They are workhorses.
That is so great to hear.
That is awesome!
Great suggestions! I’m in the west end, so lots of Tibetan/Nepali restaurants!
These all sounds so so great.
@@ISeeStarsQuilting BUN...not bug! Oh my word. bad typo. LOL
Wow! some of the hobby shops near me don’t have that amount of craft supplies!
Great finds! 🙏🏻
Love my Janome Memory CraftHorizon!
Enjoyed the tour. Thank you.
My Granddaughter works at Michael's and told me they are getting fabric by the yard in for $5 since our Joann's is going our of business. I have no idea the quality but I was told it is happening at all Michael's stores if you have one in your area.
I do! That's a fun industry share. I'll be on the lookout for it! Thank you for letting me know
The manager at the Michaels near me says that not all stores will be getting fabric but many will. In her opinion, the roll out will be slow
Your video was very informative
I am so glad.
The jelly roll & charm square prints are decent. The solids are horrid. My walmart's main problem is that they don't stock well - if you stock things, then people buy them, and then you have to stock them again.
Maybe you can order online?
@@ISeeStarsQuilting yep.... I have done that, but I swear the same stockers must have programmed the website search! It helps that "my walmart"... is actually 3 within 10 miles, with another 3 or 4 very large stores across town. hoping for new fabrics next season.
Canadian national exhibition is on in Sept in Toronto in Aug, on exhibition grounds on lakeshore. There is also the Royal Ontario Museum ( on Bloor Street and St George St area, museum stop on subway.)
I already have the ROM in my plans! I'm so looking forward to it! Thanks for the recommendations 🥰
I use Waverly fabric all the time and you would think they were high end fabric quilts
Toronto...King St W. Lots of fabric stores & Cdn $$ is 35% less than USD!!! Of course top of the CN Tower. Don't drive. Eatons Centre is nice but really just a big Mall. Have fun.
Thank you so much.
my Michaels now has fabrics and it beats the prices of walmart and hobby lobby
Some Walmarts have a complete fabric section where they have bolts and others don’t. It just depends I live in Phx and we have both kinds
Yes, this is very true.
I love their fabric prices
Check out the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). In Toronto - there is a specI also exhibit on Quilts: Made in Canada, and it has a great dinosaur exhibit, the Ripleys Aquarium is great too.
So cool!
Wow, I want to go to your Walmart. Mine doesn't look anything like yours. I have got some good ideas from your video. Thanks sew much. Just subscribed.
Thank you so much 🥰🥰
Isn't Karen Brown from Just get it done, in Toronto
The Walmarts are doing a lot of remodeling around here and doing away with the bolts and going with pre-cuts. If you are lucky to catch them at the beginning of the reset, you can get a lot of fabric at low-low prices. I'm dreading when they do the one by me, very little choices. I've never had an issue with Waverly fabrics.
You can order online as well if you would like.
@ISeeStarsQuilting just bought over 60 yards of fabric at Walmart for $32. All are 1 yd precut, so I'm looking at a lot of 3 yard quilt patterns.
I want to make a caftan ❤ with some pretty fabric...
Fat quarters, perfect for Doll clothes ❤❤, Barbie doll 1/12 scale
My Walmart does not carry this many craft supplies. Darn!
You can also order online from Walmart.
The small balls of yarn are cotton and used for dishcloths.....
Quilting show of Quilts Made In Canada is also at the ROM
I can't wait to see it! I plan to take some video while I'm there so I can share it with others.
I really want your Walmart. We have maybe a third of what you are showing.😢😊
I am in Oakville, which depending on traffic is anywhere from 40 minutes to 4 hours away from Toronto….lol…but not kidding.
Thank you for all these amazing information, We are very excited. 😍
I get almost all of my quilting supplies at Walmart
Love that!
Maybe go to Walmart in Toronto, you will understand better what we are up against in Canada.
I'm curious. What's the biggest difference in your Walmart?
@@ISeeStarsQuilting Walmarts in Canada have nowhere near the fabric selection of the American ones
@@ISeeStarsQuilting Our Walmarts do not have the selection that yours does...
