I also don't get why Astruc thinks Chloe is irredeemable when we have a character like Lila. She hasn't done a single good thing for anyone, irrational in her hatred, lies for no reason, emotionally manipulates Kagami more than once, yet we're supposed to believe Chloe is worse and incapable of redemption

@@ACriticalRetrospective Another thing that doesnt make sense is, someone on the team once said Chloe and Sabrinas relationship would improve notably over the seasons. Surely that would have been a part of her redemption? It really feels like there was a redemption arc planned for her, then Lila would take her role. But since Astruc didn't want it, it was scrapped. I agree that would have been better. Lila is irredeemable, so Chloe shows us the other side of the coin- the side that can change.

Astruc said that both Lila and Chloe are supposed to be irredeemable cause he hates mean teenage girls lmao, Chloe being sympathetic in S2-3 was probably just meddling from Zag, it's even implied in the show in the Queen Banana episode when Astruc's self insert complains about people meddling in other people's shows that's probably just him (not so) subtly trying to throw shade at Zag for trying to make Chloe look more sympathetic than he wanted her to be.

if I had to explain Lila as a character. Lila is a senseless *MARY SUE* of an "Antagonist" (Calling her an Antagonist is disrespect to other Antagonist ngl) who seemingly gets away with some of the most nonsense of lies I've ever seen. Her lies aren't even good, but because she's a Mary Sue, 90% of the cast will BELIEVE HER. *KAGAMI BELIEVED HER... KAGAMI OF ALL CHARACTERS.* The one who could of easily tell if Adrien was lying, couldn't deceive Lila's bull. The only manipulative thing I've seen Lila said that made Sense is that *Marinette is Manipulative* when she spoke to Kagami which honestly... *That ain't far off*
Lila seemingly is just a pathological liar. She lies to any person she likes and gets away with it. We don't like her because she's quite literally *BASELESS.* There isn't anything fun about her, and the only thing she brings is stupidity.
Now. If she had an interesting personality, actually can make *GOOD LIES* where it can deceive the actual AUDIENCE (Who's watching the show) and actually be a considerable threat. Then maybe, I would Like her as an antagonist.
However, instead we got a Mary Sue who lies can literally turn the "Smartest" individuals in the show to complete idiots. Alya for example wants to be a Journalist, and seeks to get all evidence before submitting such things, yet for some reason she believed Lila on the spot. Kagami believed her when she's a very smart and reasonable individual who can tell others are lying. *THE PRINCIPAL BELIEVED HER* which my god where are the *CAMERAS?!* I could actually SUE that entire School for how little security exist. Also the fact this man tried to expel Marinette for a single SMALL Crime she did. That is an over-exaggerated punishment. *I'll personally beat up this Principal if he pull that bull on me so he'd have a good reason TO EXPEL me*

I keep saying this, but if Lila had the power to charm people and was unaware of it, her whole ordeal about telling the most obvious lies and everyone believing it to the point of turning on Marinette for pointing out the truth would have made so much more sense! And making Marinette, Adrien and Gabriel immune to her charm powers because they have Miraculous on them at all times would also explain why those three don't buy her lies either!
That small change would make her character much more believable and explain why she hates Ladybug and Marinette so much - they're the only ones who don't believe her lies no matter what, and even worse, they're both willing to stand up to her. Rather than her wanting Adrien and Marinette being in the way, this would make for a much more interesting narrative surrounding her.

@ACriticalRetrospective agreed. By making chloe a villain again made her a lesser version of her original s1 self. So, in other words, they didn't continue her redemption nor doing something interesting with her as a villain, but instead, they took her worst attributes and cracked them up to 11 to justify this awful decision. And it didn't give lila any favours either. With chloe as a villain, she took the back seat, not appearing in many episodes which made her rising to the main villain status an underwhelming event since she didn't play a major role before the reveal which is hilarious. Lila became so unremarkable and forgettable in the end that she's not a significant character unless the other villains leave the show (chole & gabriel)

You can tell Lila was originally supposed to be Chloe's replacement when the writers got through her redemption arc. Maybe that's why she had been gone for so long. The writers had established at the end of season one what kind of person Lila was, then would have her take over Chloe's position as the school bully (Just instead of being a rich brat, she's just a lying brat) once Chloe's arc was finished. But from what I've heard, Thomas didn't want Chloe to be redeemed, meaning the writers didn't know what to do with her now that her main purpose was gone. So instead of just making her a one-off antagonist, they had to make something up.
I bring this up because Lila's role in season five feels so detached from her role in season one. In season one, she was just this wannabee-popular girl trying to get a cute guy to like her. But in season five, she suddenly becomes this hyper-competent villain lurking in the shadows, trying to achieve power. And while it can be interesting, it feels like it came out of nowhere because the writers didn't know what to do with Lila.

I always thought Lila was just a sociopath because sociopaths tend to lie a lot, they lack human emotions or empathy, and they often try to wreak as much havoc has possible. What I'm not particularly fond of is how everyone took stupid pills that morning (Mr. Potato Head's words, not mine) when Lila bewitched them with her lies . Honestly, Lila could have made use of her amazing storytelling skills if she were to get a redemption somehow. And maybe Marinette/Ladybug should resort to using her brain instead of reacting so much. But of course, Thomas Astruc has ensured that Marinette never does anything wrong, a typical Mary Sue move. In my opinion, Lila is just a nothing burger, the same way Schaffrillas feels about Disney's Dinosaur from 2000. I want to feel something for her, but I genuinely don't. But that doesn't mean I don't look forward to what potential she may bring now that she's the holder of the Butterfly Miraculous in Season 6. I heard from rumors her supervillain ego is named "Chrysalis".

Like it would have been interesting to see in her first episode her showing off photos of all the things she claims to have done, maybe drop in the fact she's attending the school for graphic design or something related since it's a school focused on art. Everyone including Marinette would believe her at first and also solves a big issue of mine being Alya, the reporter, the seeker of truth, doesn't think to fact check some the outlandish claims. At least with this she won't have a reason to look deeper into it. Then as Lila gets close to Adrian, she mentions she's best friends with Ladybug which Marinette overheard which sets off red flags. The episode goes on normally then at the very end Marinette is wary of Lila after seeing her dark side but doesn't fully think she's the worst just yet and Adrian figures she's the new girl, so she just wants to impress everyone but then it cuts to Lila's room where we see Lila photoshopping some photo's with her own face and show that the photos she showed the class where her photoshopped pictures.

One of the things I’ve always hated about Lila is how they’re never really clear about the motive. Like why would she do something like steal the butterfly miraculous? Did she do it for the attention that being a supervillain would give her? Or did she do it to get back at ladybug. Lila is an evil mastermind for no real reason, the characters just say their motivations out loud in this show all the time, idk why they couldn’t just have given her an evil monologue about why she’s doing this

    • @CK-solutions
      @CK-solutions 10 месяцев назад +5

The writers are deliberately holding back her motives, so fans don't guess who she actually is - based on the episodes she's been weaved into. They did the same with Adrien - secret past to hide his senti-conception, and Alix likewise. She's gifted the most powerful miraculous as a kid - but no info on why her (supposed) dad gave it to her?
The same dude who just so happened to curate all the Ladybug artefacts, and the sentimonster, Feast, into the one place for his (supposed) daughter to use for the rest of her life as Bunnyx. Also where her stone was shipped to in Time-tagger, for Cat Noir to bust her out of. Not so much a coincidence, but a plan.
What are Lila's motivations? That would give away her origin story, before the writers are prepared to reveal it. Just like one day, we'll have an origin story for Alix, and how she really came into this museum curators life.

@@estelar0067 I noticed the fox miraculous pendant in Volpina, and Lila also used it to set Marinette up in the S3 episode, Ladybug. Is it a replica or the real deal? Because Master Fu also had the fox Miraculous, at the same time Lila was claiming to possess one. Which could verify something I've had a theory about for a while. Lila is a time traveller like Bunnyx.
Unlike Bunnyx though, she had a one way trip to Marinette's early days of being Ladybug - to change something. My theory is, she's Kagami's daughter from either the future, or a different timeline. Possibly the Cat Blanc one. This "ancestor" could be Tomoe Tsurgi.
If Emilie wore the Peacock Miraculous, and Gabriel the Butterfly, it's likely that Tomoe wore one too. She could've been the holder of the fox miraculous, prior to loosing her sight. It kind of connects to her losing her sight maybe? As the fox miraculous is all about visual illusions. Tomoe may not actually be blind, but only sees illusions that aren't really there.

Some people think it's Amelie or Nathalie. I don't think it is Audrey as she has no motive & she wasn't introduced until later in the show.
More recently some think the Supreme will steal the Butterfly Miraculous off Lila before she even gets the chance to use it.
The whole Lila is an adult thing is something some suggested so she wouldn't have to worry about the Timer but the Reverse special kinda excused that.
I do think though that it is kinda silly that Shadybug could cure herself simply by using the Miraculous correctly.. why didn't that work on Nathalie too once they'd fixed the Peafowl Miraculous ?

It looked like Monarch lost, but Tomoe actually won.
I suspect what jump-scared Lila at the end of the season finale, was this AI searching for the Butterfly Miraculous holder. Using the programming it learned through the episode Intuition, but also because it needed a Kwami (Nuroo) as a power source for what Tomoe has in store.
Think of Lila now, as the pilot, Ada was designated to protect. Tomoe may offer her AI enhanced services to Lila, as she did to Gabriel helping the holder of the Butterfly Miraculous. But she's really the one pulling the strings. Melting the Alliance rings into a statue of Gabriel, was actually her building an enormous wifi tower in the middle of Paris, for her AI to work through. Her tower, her tech and ultimately her call how Lila can use the butterfly miraculous.

My prediction for Season 6 is that Lila will use Nadia Chamak in order to expose the secrets that she got from Gabriel worldwide, since we can see that she's on Lila's murder board. So that way everyone would know that Ladybug lied about Monarch, which could set up a dynamic between Adrien and Marinette, where Adrien hates Ladybug but is still in love with Marinette, and even have some of the heroes be conflicted about it, making it easy for Lila ro manipulate them and create a secret collusion within the hero team.

Lila will change her tactic with Kagami too. Encouraging her not to believe anything she says from now on, but give her the opportunity to show her instead. Lila will then feed info to Kagami to check out for herself. What Kagami learns for herself, will line up with what Nadia Chamak reveals on the news. Season 5 is the most nonsensical season of an already incredibly nonsensical show to begin with. The big problem Miraculous has as a whole is introducing interesting characters and plots and dropping and forgetting them, either all together or until the very last minute, or as some have joked, whenever Tom Astruc actually takes a pee break, and the writer's room goes, "Quick! Write something interesting!"
With how convoluted and nonsensical Lila's character arc is as a whole, the only interesting thing I would love to have done from here on out is have it revealed that she was like a cursed Temple Guardian who's actually hundreds of years old like Master Fu and the other guy. That would be hell-a-fun! But I'm sure that's not at all what any of the writers have in mind.

Max created a robot that feels emotions, and he's the son of an astronaut, Chloe's the child of a world-famous fashion designer and the mayor who owns his own hotel frequented by celebrities, Juleka is the child of a rockstar, Adrien is the child of a famous fashion designer and actress, and everyone in the class has been saved by Ladybug and Cat Noir, and they've all met with famous rock star, Jagged Stone. This show cannot write a normal batch of high-schoolers.

Or they simpli did not want Félix to be a bad guy, like in the show (or they did not even wanted to bring him back), but that would have left only Lila, and they needed a "small" villain, and a big one, becoming the next butterfly... So they only planned with one character, but actually needed 2, so brought back Chloé, created Zoé and put away Lila for later... I guess

tbh Lila could have been such a cool character back from what we got in the first two seasons. Like the storyline itself acknowledges that people buy whatever she says no matter how ridiculous it is (it might be because things actually do happen in that sort of way, like we have Alix, Max, Marinette, Adrien, Chloe and more people from very interesting backgrounds, of course they'd buy Lila's (because it's actually shown that such a thing could happen - like Marinette practically does it all the time) ridiculous claims. Not to mention, there are literal superheroes and villains in this city, so pretty much anything is possible) and she just tells more, maybe in a way to fit in Paris (which is a huge, obnoxiously characteristic city). Maybe she has a crush on Adrien cause most of the students do as well, and her mother might be too busy to even care if her daughter's telling the truth or not (or has just accepted that she lies by default (projection))
And also if someone would've questioned her it would be great actually, people might choose not to because of many reasons (such as - this could be very offensive to such a sensitive-looking person, or I'm not gonna get blamed for making some spoiled narcissist cry because I called her out once, or I really don't think there's much hope for this person, it's best to keep ignoring her)
in s3 too I'd actually prefer her exposed because if she does get beaten at some point then we'd see a side of her we've never seen before - Lila dealing with actual problems. Like then the whole school would be skeptical of her, so in order to convince people that she's changing for the better, she can only do it by her actions. So far it's implied she's quite lazy and wants to take the benefits easier so people being skeptical of her would at least be frustrating. But then again that's characterizing her as a teenage girl and not as some criminal mastermind who's definitely worse than Gabriel Agreste. Though it would be cool to see some Chloe-Lila beef about this whole issue, or Lila reverting back to being a hikkikomori, or her then getting suspended from Francoise Dupont so she has to attend another school
it would be awesome if they made lila. a character instead of a representation of 4chan. I guess I have absolutely no problem with Chloe being irredeemable cause shes fuckin Chloe like people don't always redeem themselves, and besides at least she has relationships with other characters. or development. or a role that actually fit her before s5-
oh yeah and she found out Gabriel was hawkmoth because -
    - she looked forward for isolating Adrien, and Gabriel actually agreed to her plan, horrible parenting btw
    - it's kinda strange that Gabriel always tried to provoke her or use her to provoke other people, and then when it happens, an akuma flies through
    - the call from strike back that she overheard confirmed this for her
    - and during perfection, as Kagami felt sad, and akuma appeared, and that was right after Lila told Gabriel that she manipulated Kagami
and yes, Lila did make a mistake on letting Chloe and Sabrina join her, because unlike her neither would be able to handle what she does, so one would spill it out. Also her letting Chloe and Sabrina know is quit ooc in my opinion because Miraculer exists and I'm sure Chloe and Lila were on bad terms before Penalteam (huh, football really makes friendships). Besides, if she knew to disguises herself with another identity, she could forge her own handwriting as well. And Sabrina doing it for the right thing...no. At the earlier seasons Sabrina had no problem letting Chloe pull off the Dersion Incident

This is an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think Lila deserves to be labeled “irredeemable” either…or at least be the final big bad. I think that title should go to Gabriel.
The demonization of teenagers just doesn’t seem right to me regardless if it’s Lila, Chloe or Felix. Teens are in a constant state of change in their lives. It makes no sense to have the “people don’t change” narrative for any of them when a grown adult who’s more stuck in his ways than a teen would be is right there.

The key to a good pathological liar character (that the show really wants Lila to be) is to have them tie their lies together to make a character that they play for other people to believe in so they can be manipulated. However, Lila’s lies are so ridiculous and seemingly unrelated that just about everyone has to be dumbed down to the IQ of a kindergartener for the lies to work, which is not a smart character. It’s a dumb character only appearing to be smart by proxy of everyone else being dumber than she is.

I mean...I like lila's set up. lila gives off the energy of a villian created by the protagonist due to insensativity. like...Marinette due to her jealous followed adrien and lila while yes mari gained better reasons to act as lila stole adrien's book and was lying about being a holderand had a right to be upset since lila was putting down ladybug....it was clear mari's main motive was still about making sure adrien wasn't interested in lila as mari was insecure earlier since mari believed lila was interesting and confident at talking. so Mari humilated her by calling her out in public infront of adrien, a boy mari knew lila liked. what lila did wasn't good at all as it could put lila in danger by pretending to be LB's bestfriend but instead of taking lila aside to talk more privately mari shouted at her deliberately. something the show did point out was wrong of mari. which caused lila to get akumatized the first time. and honestly....LB was still jealously motivated as despite KNOWING lila and adrien weren't on a date earlier she interupted adrien's plan to try to calm lila down with some spite and somehow believed the date thing despite knowing it was a lie.
I actually like how lila didn't forgive ladybug after and held a grudge because just a sorry doesn't really erase that she overreacted to lila telling some harmless lies just to impress someone.
even the epsiode ages later where lila offically joins the class and the class tries to be nice to the new girl by giving her a seat in the front when they heard she was going through so stuff i thought was interesting...because honestly unlike the ladybug lie mari didn't really have a reason to believe everything lila was saying was a lie and mari actually HAD believed lila even after the ladybug lie for a bit so its not like mari is particularly smarter than her friends. she just has info they don't have.....andwhile I get some people getting pissed her friends don't believe her about lila...I thought it made sense. mari is someone who tends to jump to conclusions sometimes like mari did about the gum incident and about kagami. mari had LITERALLY gone on a rant about worrying that adrien woud fall for the way more interesting girl lila inrfont of alya before and saying they have to do something to stop adrien from falling for lila. its easy to think mari was off due to the seat change they didn't properly warn mari about and as far as they knew the first time mari met lila was in that classroom. they have no reason to believe mari knows anything else about lila. even later on when lila was on her 'trip' the teachers validate is with teh skype call into class and believe lila...why would the kids think lila has someone tricked the school and her mom for a fake trip?
and lots of the class has cool skills and know cool people and experiences so why would they doubt lila's when they have no reason to.
what I thought was interesting is lila made a point of being hyper emotional...like when mari hesitated about the seat...lila acted super sad where the class focused on 'lila thinks she isn't wanted inthe class'. its clear the class adores marinette and that they know mari never actually said mari wanted her out of the class...but lila takes advantage they are good people and would focus on getting lila to calm down rather seeing it as a jab against mari. what I thought was interesting is lila's lies seem harmless...mostly just to get attention or impress so even if teh class did think she was lying they aren't going to care much whether she is or isnt because she doesn't seem to want to hurt anyone with it. mari sees it as teh class turning on her when its more the class doesn't have any reason to think mari would judge this person she just met. ladybug never countered the bestfriend lie on the ladyblog(as mari was distracted by fu after volphina and lila didn't show). and lila was smart in making sure lila didn't seem against mari...like there were stupid lies like the napkin thing but lila was making sure it was emotion based as lila tries to seem like she is on mari's side and using how the kids are naturally nice people. and lila uses mari's temper against her becuase mari IS right but she distracts mari so mari doesnt actually notice that mari isn't getting across the info properly and making sure the kids see mari dislikes lila...which no longer makes mari a unbiased party.

people tend to give adrien flack about it but I actually loved him pointing out that mari trying to jump on every lie lila had actually just made them stronger since it became less about the original lie and moe about the confrontation. and adrien was right that cornering lila the way mari did made lila defensive and lila 'defended' herself by targetting the person trying to out her. and how cornering her like that would just push lila into being worse and not fix the problem...and that without mari trying to force it the lies would be outed on their own...like lila's sickness lie was actually outed by the end of the day by the teacher and the seats rearranged again. mari never got around to telling lila that mari had decided to give her a chance and that she wouldn't try outing her like that again. its not all on mari as lila jumped to conclusions mari was still against her first from adrien sitting next to mari and double down herself and we know lila got annoyed and defensive when adrien tried to talk to her about her lying habit where she got akumatized/sided with hawkmoth)...but adrien showed a bit of nuance that there ARE different reasonssomeone might lie when going to a new school and mari's quick judgment did push lila a bit as lila tried to use the seat next to adrien as a peace offering to adrienbut mari decided to reject all chances of giving lila a chance asa friend first. as much as people point out mari doesn't like liars...what I enjoy is it feels like mari uses the 'i don't like liars' as a bit of a cover to explain deeper negative feelings...like how as ladybug she excused her behaviour toward chloe in antibug as hating liars but we know was due to her history with chloe and how 'ladybug' didn't have that history so needed something to justify her reaction. and how mari's motive when confronting lila infront of adrien before was due to both dislike and wanting to make sure adrien wasn't interested in lila/jealousy even if she brought up disliking liars/disliking being lied about.
and lila was interesting because lila layed low. she didn't actually do anything to civilian mari until the episode of pretending mari pushed her down the stairs and that mari stole her necklace and cheated on her test WAY later.
lila generally built goodwill around everyone to the point she was trusted to babysit. we see mari follow lila again later when lila went to adrien's house....but arguably her lying to be allowed to study in adrien's house wasn't actually bad/evil. the main issue was lila lied about not being interested in adrien to nino but mari has also tried to hide her feelings before and make plans tp hang out with adrien before s its not fully bad. and adrien was the one who agreed to let lila try to hang out in his house. lil's issue was getting jealous of a picture of adrien and kagami and trying to hurt kagami by sending a picture after forcing a cheek kiss on adrien.
but whats fascinating what lila is the worst because we know her intentions...but motives are hard to prove and lilais clever at using other people's ideas. like...the class thought to give lila that seat on their own..she never told them to...so even though mari was right to be pissed since the class offered because they thought they were he;ping her with a issue...it was still their own idea.

lila thinks she is using a grieving man's paranoia and worry about his son and bad influences by projecting herself as someone who validates his fears that he isright to be worried and as salvation as someone who can 'protect' adrien and be a good influence and give gabe inside info adrien might miss'. WE know gabe isn;t fooled. tha he knows lila isn't friends with ladybug and that lila is a liar but he pretends he is foooled because lila might make good akumas. i think its fascinating because lilathinks she is using a grieving single father and presenting herself as a good friend to adrien. that shegets to actuallybe famous as a model. and lila thinks she is succefully potentially isolating adrien by turning his father against his friends by insulting everyone else in the class to gabriel. WE know gabe doesn't actually believe her but she is still terrible because we know what she is trying to do.
what I like most is ADRIEN feels like the one who handles lila the best. mari never told him about lila threatening her before so he has no reason to believe lila is malicious until lila got kagami akumatized and his employee's introuble and he saw as chat lila tryto have chat help her with a lie so chat wouldn't be around to help ladybug...but once he realize he was VERY firm with her. he just didn't have PROOF. and lila was clever in being nice about mari the other times which pointed out a intersting aspect to me which is that mari isn't good at putting herself in other shoes. mari doesn;t realize that the other kids' views are just as valid because mari has info that they don't and mari is bad at properly explaining that to them. mari can't explain she is ladybug so she knows for certain lila is lying about being BFF with LB. she can;t expalin she followed lila and adrien in the library before and saw lila steal adrien's book, let alone that lila made a necklace from it to trick adrien, threw hisbook in the trash and got roasted by LB because time has passed and mari doesnt want adrien to know she returned the book as mari technically had take it to fu and not immediately returned it and doesn't want people to know what ladybug did to lila since mari realized she was wrong in how she handled that. and it might be obvious that lila is lying but whats hard to prove is lila is being malicious.
and lila is able to use mari's temper against her so even when mari does have proof lila can make mari blow up and not realize mari isnt getting the info across properly and have kid reasonable doubt mari's opinion of lila since mari doesnt hide her dislike of lila while lila made sure to praise mari to the other when mari isn't around. so the kids think lila is also a fan of mari's like they are.
then when lila did her big lie and got mari expelled/suspended...even though YES it should be obvious to doubt lila....it actually made sense why it was confusing...lila made up more physical evidence as well as had built up a reputaton of being nice and never did anything to mari until then. even the seat thing was more about nino who asked to switch with mari without explaining the situation properly and how the class/alya forgotto tell mari they never planned for teh seat change to be permanent anyway. lila god the school to believe her/validate her by believing her trip lies and having her skype in...no one would believe lila had been succefullying lying to her mom AND teh school for months. and even rose is pen pals with prince ali....lila played the long game as well by praising mari around the others and even when undercutting mari trying to out her...lila would act like she was on mari's side or like she was defending mari against the others unlike mari who couldn't hide her dislike of lila.

what I like most here was while mari's friends WEREN'T REALLY against mari...mari understandably FELT they were anf alone in this because people didn't immedtaley pin lila as bad which caused mari to push other helping her aside because mari knew lila was in the wrong.... like alya....alya knew mari was innocent and was doing her best to prove it...but mari was frusterated that alya didn't immedtaley pin lila as the bad guy even though it makes sense to collect evidence and lila had been careful to act like she liked mari and that it was out of character for lila.
while adrien was suprised since this came out of the blue (since lila lays low and hadn;t one anything to mari before) and while he knew mari would be found innocent since mari IS innocent and lila's 'evidence' wouldn't hold up to actual scrutiny as lila only got away with this by bombarding people with drama scenerios. he bribed/threatened lila to get lila to get mari back into school quickly as while he was confident lila would be outed if it was looked into...but he prioitized mari getting back into school quickly...so he traded keeping silent to hid dad about lila being the worst and not making a big deal wbout lila being a model...which LILA wanted to use since she thinks she had succefully tricked gabe into thinking she was a friend of adrien's due to adrien taking her to his house that other time. so by having adrien not tell so she'd leave mari alone it actually let her keep her job as a model as adrien doesn't actually know lila isn't actually gabe's new muse and that lila just pretended to be a closer friend of adrien's to get the job.
I actually though it was interesting that mari seemed to GENUINELY mean the idea of a olive branch when lila lied mari back into the school and by saying she had a lying disease...but lila dismisses that olive branch entirely...fully showing now its Lila's full choice to be a bad guy now. and lila's could understandably have sour feelings toward mari who is Actually talented and has all these interesting connections and is the most popular girl in the class who decided to try to out lila when lila just met mari.
i actually though lila could be interesting because while people act like the rest of the class is dumb...mari honestly isn't above falling for lila's lies either...with her own defense usually being she would WANT lila to be lying due to personal dislike of her...while it feels like adrien might be more of a threat to lila if given the chance even if lila tries to pretend like he isnt because she wants him for clout.
there are definitly still problems with lila but baybe they'll adress that she sabotaged chloe? that chloe being irredeemable might have been lila's plan and not the actual case? make mari or others question things?

Honestly after mari reveals to alya she's ladybug, its frankly baffling that this never makes alya question lila at all. One of lila's first lies to her was her friendship with ladybug, she should be able to put 2 and 2 together after marinette is revealed TO be ladybug that mari was telling the truth about her.
I think alya believing mari was just jealous of lila and saying mean things as a result does work, a little, cause we have seen how mari can act when jealous (kagami and chloe in some episodes) and make judgements or bad choices. But even that goes so far before its too unbelievable for her character.
But even if we ignore THAT, lila makes lies about people like jagged stone, someone mari knows and is in good cred with and y'know.....juleka and luka's dad??? There's just so many instances were mari should be able to prove she's a compulsive liar quite easily but the show just finds new ways to cover for lila and its ridiculous.
The idea of lila being buds with marinette but hating ladybug sounds pretty compelling, shame its not in the show . Might’ve provided a sense of dread to us to know this friend of mari's was against her secretly and drama about mari being sad that this "new friend " hates half of her. That it might be genuinely heartbreaking seeing their friendship fall apart because in reality lila was a horrible person out to destroy the heroes.
    So much what ifs.
Also, glad to see i wasn't the only one annoyed about her being basically a no show in s4, if they had just let chloe be redeemed they could of had lila take a bigger evil role that season but nah i guess.

Me and my brother dropped Miraculous Ladybug at season 3 because of frustrating plots and terrible writing, though even after we stopped watching the show I can't help but find Lila an interesting antagonist considering she was able skillfully manipulate not just her classmates and teachers (though I will agree everyone being dumb down for plot convenience is both stupid and frustrating), but has been conning families into taking her in as their daughter like the three women she deceived.
Not to mention the fact she's been wearing disguises and assuming various aliases while deceiving others is what took me by surprise (though to be fair I knew Lila's a sociopathic, compulsive liar based on the Wikipedia character page before season 5 but didn't expect her to be a full-on con artist obsessed with attention and popularity)

Lyla as a whole confuses me as her overreaching plot makes 0 sense nor do a lot of her actions. A good friend of mine just spoiled her whole 'secret' to me because we were both exhausted from this show and I was stuck in a loop of confusion for like 10 minuets because even for a show that IS fantasy, the motives Lyla has on top of all her actions to make her lies fly are such a stretch that they don't make me see her as a genius but rather that the crew of the show are terrible writers who make more plot holes than they can fill. As a result, I don't like Lyla and not because she is a villain and as such she's 'supposed' to be disliked but rather because her very involvement in the series is a MASSIVE WASTE OF MY TIME and she brings the plots to screeching stops.
    Seriously I hate Zoe for being a terrible Chloe replacement but I hate Lyla even more because she seriously serves no real purpose. As someone else in the comment section mentioned, the whole thing reeks of her being a Chloe replacement and honestly? That would have worked, especially if they pulled back on her massive lies. Here's a thought I had;
Lyla could have been introduced in a position like Zoe early on; she appeares vulerable and easily bullied and (bad) Chloe does just that which in turn causes Mari and Alya to gravitate towards her and from there, a friendship could evolve and over time Lyla reels them in close and closer until it's finally revealed that she was manipulating them the whole time by, guess what, lying but in this case the lies are much smaller and things to present her was weak and as a victim, that way those around her put their guard down around her which allows her to learn things about them that she can later exploit. Ironically, CHLOE could be the one who is immune to Lyla but through the happenstance that it comes from her utter dislike of her and Chloe senseing a 'vibe' from her, which is that something about Lyla reminds Chloe about the worst features of HERSELF which she doesn't want to admit but can't deny that she sees. But because of her own reputation and more lies, no one believes Chloe which plays into her self-esteem issues but also slowly showing the true face of Lyla as she starts to hit Chloe when she's down, causing someone like Adrian to notice and begin to smell a rat as well which could lead to conflict between Adrian and Mari, with the latter being shocked that they would believe Chloe over Lyla. It could all cumulate to where it would be a proper situation for Chloe to have her redemption arc and earn the Bee Miraculous but on the other side, Hawk Moth manages to steal one of the other Miraculous and give it to Lyla, having her stay on HIS side and there is a perfect Miraculous for Lyla; the snake.
    Hell, I'll give you one more idea;
Say there was a wolf Miraculous but prior to that Mari would trust Lyla in a situation to have the sheep Miraculous (this would happen prior to Chole becoming Queen Bee) and there would be a few episodes where Lyla is given the sheep and Mari feels like she did the right thing by allowing Lyla to have power and a sense of self, only for it to be revealed that Lyla was working for Hawk Moth the entire time and through Mari's action, she handed over the sheep Miraculous to her but to rub the salt even further into the wound, Lyla scoffs at Mari and says "I never liked sheep. They're too fluffy and weak for me." only for Hawk Moth to hand her the wolf Miraculous....and from there Lyla would have been the literal wolf in sheep's clothing. From there, Mari would be reeling from having her trust broken and have trust issues when it comes to people like Lyla and Chloe but Chloe would shock her by actually being a decent person who EARNS not just the Bee Miraculous but also Mari's trust, after Chloe's own arc of course.
Your videos are damn good, especially since they just get people talking about something they love and hate to see being done so....BADLY.
    SO, SO, SO BADLY.

@@ACriticalRetrospective Yeah, it takes way too long for Lyla to come into her own because they had her compete with Chloe for the person that drew Mari's ire but it became clear real quick that with the two, Chloe was just much more entertaining. Lyla should have never been introduced as an antagonist flat out but rather have the trails leading to her being one the entire time, and one with better motivation in how she uses lies to manipulate others.
A character using lies to gain the trust of others is interesting but Lyla's stories are just way too big and convoluted and as you mentioned, they require everyone around her to turn off their brains to believe. The whole 'IT'S TOO DANGEROUS TO GO TO SCHOOL!' lie was so outrageous because are Lyla and her mom just stuck inside and cut off from the internet? And connected to that, Lyla's story about being abroad was her referencing Aladdin! 'Prince Ali'? SERIOUSLY? XD

I feel as if Lila’s character has gone through many changes throughout the story development, and I’ll try to explain them all. In season 1, I believe Arstruc wanted Lila to be a future version of Manon who was suffering from some form of amnesia, but he wasn’t quite sure that’s exactly where he wanted to take her character. My reasoning for this is because Manon’s akuma powers are to mind control people like how Lila manipulates people with her lies. It would also explain why Lila has a necklace that looks so similar to the Fox miraculous, because unbeknownst to her, it actually was the real Fox miraculous which was given to her from future Alia. It also explains why she took the necklace with her after it was repaired, if it were just something she bought, then she would have left it, since at that point it would have been practically useless. There is also the fact that there are lilacs on Manon’s overalls. However, like I said, Arstruc most likely wasn’t sure that was where he wanted to take Lila’s character, so the idea that she wasn’t Manon from the future was left as a possibility. Making her either the unknowing Fox miraculous holder, Manon from the future with the Fox miraculous, Manon with a fake Fox miraculous, or a normal person with a fake. Then in season 2 Arstruc decided to give Ahlia the Fox miraculous, which left 3 of the 4 story paths open for Lila’s character. To Arstruc, Lila could now be someone with a fake miraculous, Manon from the future with a real miraculous, or Manon with a fake. Season 2 also gave Manon a reason to dislike Ladybug in the future, if Lila was future Manon, in puppeteer2. Season 2 also introduced one of Lila’s mothers, but that could be explained by Arstruc as her being adopted. Season 3 is interesting at its where we meet time tagger who in the script or show bible is said to love the future female Hawkmoth. This could be where Arstruc decided to make Lila/Manon the Hawk moth of the future. However, it’s possible that he was foreshadowing that in season 1 and 2 with Manon being someone who could give powers to people through her puppeteer ability. Arstruc deciding to turn Lila’s character into the Hawk Moth of the future could also have been a recent change to make Lila the new big bad for when Gabe dies. Season 4 is where he had to put Lila on the back burner to cook a bit more. Then in season 5 is where we see the product of his cooking, and god damn did he cook, because Lila got a lot of major development this season. Her being the Hawk moth of the future is obvious at this point, but as to whether or not she’s gonna be Manon, well it’s possible that Arstruc scrapped the idea, but I feel like he’s gonna go through with it.

if i were to write lila, i would establish that she hates when people are hypocrites and put on facades. This can explain why she hates ladybug so much, she seems like a perfect hero but she does THIS to her and abused her superpowers. That's why lila is so determined to expose ladybug. Sure, it's a flimsy reason, but it's better than "i hate ladybug cause she embarrassed me in front of my crush lolololol"!!! But this gives her an insight, o, how people with high social status/powers can just abuse their powers behind that friendly mask. She decides to take this to her advantage and be a manipulative liar who seems innocent but actually really evil. She would spread rumours about ladybug online and in real life and tell everyone how ladybug had did bad things to her (and telling actually believable lies that people would actually believe), Her ultimate goal is to work with hawkmoth to help him take ladybug and cat noir's miraculous, degrade ladybug, and ladybug would hate lila because everyone likes her but she's actually evil and trying to take the hero's down, but lila reminds her that she's just as unjust as her. and in the end lila wants everyone to see hawkmoth win, but only everyone in paris would root for hawkmoth because they hate ladybug. (Also maybe lila would want to betray gabe and when they get the ladybug and cat miraculous lila steals it from him to make her wish, but idk)
also worth noting is that one of lila's family is very famous and influential, maybe her mom is like a famous actor (which is ironic because lila acts out different personas) and lila is like a child prodigy actor thing and is pretty well known and liked? that's why many people would believe her more and actually listen to her words. She also has different identities and families because her bloodline is kinda messy and she uses those identities to spread even more rumours, each identity having a different personality, and her other identities could also talk about how ladybug is an evil person and backing up lila's claim so it makes lila look like she's not the only victim and her story would be more believable (well, ladybug being bad towards her is actually kinda the truth, and lila just twists it into something bigger, and when people start doubting ladybug, ladybug can't really deny it because she HAS done those things.) and to me the plot point of lila having different families ems kinda pointless (idk if they ever expand on that please tell me if the show did!!) that's why i wanna dive deeper into that aspect of her charecter. Lila in my rewrite would be a successful manipulator, and she's excellent at using her circumstances and background to her advantage.
i also wouldn't redeem her charecter, she would be a sorta morally grey charecter villain thing who fights injustice with injustice, which can really make you think about her morality. i tried fixing her charecter without completely changing her and just adding some context and motivations and charecter traits, sorry if this doesn't make sense i'm not very good at english and writing but i hope this is better than what the show did with her charecter haha

ive realise that lila could really admire ladybug because she symbolises justice in her eyes but when ladybug betrays that belief she could hate the idol of ladybug putting on a friendly facade but is actually evil. (damn i sound like a broken record "fAcAdE" "iNjUsTiCe")
Also i don't think i explained why lila would become injustice and a liar that well, well it's because ladybug taught her how she COULD do that ("that" as in abusing your power and using your social status to your advantage while people still admiring you and liking you because of your facade) and she starts doing that to make ladybug have a taste of her own medicine and for revenge or something

If the writers were dead set on keeping Chloe evil, they should have given Lila a redemption arc so she has interesting character development that makes sense and doesn't just become a redundant Chloe clone.

Wow, the video was so well put and interesring, that it's a bit of a shock that you dont have 1k yet. Had to subscribe .(CONGRATS ON 1K BTW, EVEN THO IT'S 999 RN AS OF WRITING THIS COMMENT)
As for Lila, well... Honestly, from the moment she appeared, she was annoying me with her lies. I agree, they didn't make any sense, and making characters stupid just so she could thrive... Nope, that's bad writing. And while she got interesting in S5 (and I cheered when she finally got called out), it dragged out way too long for no reason.
Could say Cozy Glow from MLP was done better; she appeared in one random episode of s8, one before the season finale, and in the finale itself. Viewers got to know her as a friendly filly who wanted to be friends with everyone. And it worked for her manipulation. Yes, while watching you could see it coming, but at least it wasn't dumbing down other characters (you could argue it did, but an argument against it was that it's the world of friendship, it made sense for some characters to act that way, minus the manipulation of course). And while many people in the fandom didn't like her or how she was handled, at least it made sense (while rewatching you can see something's up with her; while watching for the first time, maybe, but you're not sure)
While Lila, she barely appears in the span of 5 seasons, and when she does, it feels like you want her gone. I mean, the "my uncle works for Nintendo" example lie you used, 8/9yo might fall for that, but might also ask you for evidence, not believing what you say. And these characters are 14yo. Seriously?
At this point I'm hoping they won't fall into the same rabbit hole of her throwing lies left and right, and people having negative amount of braincells, since it'll make it too unrealistic, that I bet kids would see through this, and question why adults in this show are incompetent. Out there, hoping s6 will bring tension, and not the forced tension like with Lila up until now
(Sorry for bringing up MLP, i love this show, and it has many points of how to handle characters, as well as how to NOT do that)
