Nah, A baby chinchilla squeaking is the most natural thing known to nature. They tend to make a lot of noises such as those, and besides, if the owner (Chintube) Decided that the chinchillas were harmed, im sure she would get them out. It could just be the chinchilla is slightly scared in a sock. Haha~ But they do very much love tight spaces.

Its a sort of way they communicate be nice or they want attention towards other chini's. Our baby chin we got would make that sound towards our older female chin when they first met.

If you are talking about the temperatures that chinchillas need to be in so that they do not overheat, the maximum temperatures they can withstand is about 68° F or 20 C , Although it is recommended to keep the chin at around 58 F or 14 C so that they are happier and more active. The minimum temperatures they can withstand are about -50 F or -45 C. They are built more for the cold than the heat due to them originally living in mountains.

When you let your chinchillas out, do you worry about whether or not they'll leave droppings everywhere, or is it relatively easy to clean up after them?

+Liuhuayue In my experience it's generally easy to clean. Normally if they use the bathroom on your floor it's just a matter of a broom and dustpan.
