I remember going to the Tunnel and as soon as I walked in Biggie was on the pay phone downstairs! A pay phone! Then later that night I was upstairs at the unisex bathroom and Tupac was on one of the couches with mad chicks around him and they was smoking mad weed and drinking Cristal. What a time to be alive!!!
Man I love hearing these stories😂. I was in high school when it closed, but hearing all these stories made me excited to go when I got older lol. I used to eavesdrop on my family tell stories about the tunnel and was so fascinated😂😂
The first and last time I went to The Tunnel I took the train, walked down that block with the scaffolding and arrived at the back of the building. It was the night of Memphis Bleek's album release party. It seemed too crowded to walk around the left side, so I chose to walk around the right side (the other back side of the building). Surprise! Who did I see? Jay-z & Bleek joking and laughing in a silver Bentley Continental coupe (1999), Dame Dash behind them in a darker grey Bentley Arnage sedan with what looked like 3 agent Smiths from the matrix movies, and behind him was the goon security in a green Expedition in that order parked with the engines running. I didn't get in that night as I didn't know you had to come early in order to have a chance to get in. I just hung out with the rest of the crowd as they cracked jokes on over dressed females who could not get in. That was the first time I saw DMX as the 3 girls and 1 guy carried him out, holding him up by his arms and shoulders. I said "X" and with his head down he STILL replied "Whats up, Dog". Months later I saw DMX in the Galleria Mall with his homeboy. Again I said "X" in the same low raspy voice. Again, (this time sober) DMX looked at me and replied "What up, Dog". Made my day (evening). DMX is a LEGEND. The REALEST rap/Hip Hop artist I ever met or knew of.
