That is kinda sad. I find it sad because Ravenholm could have been a good place at once, until it got shelled so pretty much everyone died, but Father Grigori.
Blue Jelly ravenholm is basically an endless zombie town. He wanted to save Gordon by attracting everyone to himself. That's why he blocked the gate and kept all the attention away from Gordon. However although you seem fire surrounding his place. People speculated that he's alive in ep2 you find some zombies decapitated like ravenholm and some axes which makes it seem like a trap just like the ones he made in ravenholm. But it could be just survivors who knows. He might return in ep3 which may never happen.
Did you get out of there? If so, what was the WORST PLACE in the chapter? Was it the part *_where you go underground and the ground is flooded with fast headcrabs and poison headcrabs?_*
I still don't get it wtf is scary about dead space i remember playing at 3 AM and all light out blasting my headphones audio to the max it was not scary at all
@@neonsolace2748 I think it's because dead space is expected to be a scary game so you expect it to happen, as for this when I first played Half-Life 2 back in 05 this level was unexpected and was like a huge wtf moment lol And ya I wasn't scared at Dead Space as well 👊
It's a bit surprising that one of the most peaceful and calm songs (Triage of Dawn) in the Half-Life Series is linked to one of the most unsettling and tense places in the series, bar none.
The Audiosurfer I've been wanting to do a metal-themed cover of something from the Half-Life 2 sountrack for quiet a while now and what you said just gave me a really good idea. Thanks.
Its because the first time you see people who are safe and alive. And you realize the Zombies you killed were once kind beings like the ones helping you now.
The Audiosurfer I saw a comment that sums up Triage at Dawn pretty well. It said that the song is showing how Gordon sees/understands what the resistance is fighting for and it is the light at the end of the darkness of Ravenholm.
Requiem For Ravenholm might be almost a sad song because the word "Requiem" could mean remembering the dead, so Ravenhold _could_ have been a good, human town, but then the Combines shelled it like crazy. But, Father Grigori is the only one who survives, and basically _lives_ there.
It WAS a rebel town, then was shelled by combine troops. It's also suggested that Grigori is not the only one alive at the time the player comes through, but rather the only one he sees.
@@andrewkalten9796 yeah. Throughout Ravenholm you can hear many cries and screams of unfortunate survivors. Makes it kinda sad. To listen to the final moments of people...
First time i passed Ravenholm was back in 2005, i was about 12 years old. Took me a month to go through it because i was so scared i had to play other games in between. The part where the first fast headcrab charges at you when you pass that door still gives me chills everytime i start a new game... And that howling... My God the howling was insane... You just knew shit was about to get real very soon. Best game i have ever played and i have played and best soundtrack too. Now i can only wait for HL3 or HL3 Ep3 or go through all of Half Life once again.
Man, When I was 14 and tried to get through it, I was too much of a little bitch and hacked my way to the next map. ;-; Now I'm twenty and anything similar to Ravenholm still sends a chill down my spine. But at least I'm able to get through it now. :D
I remember when i first walked into Ravenholm and I heard the music I stared at the hanging legs and thought it was a zombie. I didn't want to move and get attacked so I didn't move for like 30 minutes staring at my old boxy TV playing with an original Xbox trying to figure out if it was a zombie or not.
Just played through Ravenholm, now it's on my "most tense moments in games" list. Ironically enough, I didn't die to any of the zombies. I died twice because I was a big dum-dum and didn't know that you could duck under the traps.
I died once because i wasnt paying attention to Poison Zombies below, and one of those poison headcrabs smacked me in the face and killed me. Right when that happened, something else probably hit me as well because i died.
I have just went through ravenholm (about to enter the mines), too me the only thing scary was the fast zombies jumping at you, as a person who is really easily frightened, I am very surprised I didnt find Ravenholm that much scary as everyone claims it to be
i have a feeling that the "church" is the death of father grigori. Right now i am halfway into ravenholm. and i will soon hear the "particle ghost". my favorite part in the game. i am SUPER excited!
The fear that strikes within you in the beginning song, unknowning of whats to come. The sadness you feel for Father Grigori as he plunges into the fire. The relief you encounter when you finally exit the caverns and listen to the tune. The good sound.
Ravenholm is the only thing in the game that actually shows us what the Combine does to those who rebel. They won't go in and wipe them out unless they have to, they couldn't with ravenholm, they would be fighting an uphill battle. So the Combine shelled the place, forcing the rebels within to fight amongst themselves as their brothers and sisters transformed into these horrible beasts. The combine didn't ever invade ravenholm, not a single Overwatch soldier is found there. This shows us the combine can destroy an entire base within hours, without a single soldier being deployed
It's sad that Return to Ravenholm was cancelled. But the right game in the wrong hands are much worse. Nevertheless Ravenholm is still the best and scariest place in gaming history.
