Completely agree. This is animal torture... animal cruelty...and animal torture. And I am on repeat. 😂😂🤣🤣 One a more serious note, wonder if she would have been better to groom this perfect lapdog on the shoulder.
I dog-sit for a cockapoo and they clamber alllll over the place. I have to strap him in a harness when I take him places. Very good natured animal, but he's a spoiled little dog prince.
My Cocker does that. Not just in baths, but for any grooming or ear cleaning, etc. He hates being touched unless he chose to be touched and his response is to stand up with his paws wrapped around my hands and arms so that I cannot proceed.
When my German Shepherd was a puppy (aka baby velociraptor lol) we would try to make sure we played hard right before we left so a lot of that nervous energy was worked out ahead of time and he was too sleepy to care what you did to him. Not everyone has that kind of time, but even a good 15 minutes before you leave can make a world of difference, especially for working breeds. We also brought a lick mat to distract him, we used yogurt and pumpkin (sometimes peanut butter if I called ahead and asked if anyone on shift had allergies) and it was so worth the effort because he LOVES going to the vet's office, even if they have to draw blood, and he doesn't mind being examined and he was too tired to care about getting his nails clipped. The air tube of death cannot be defeated by playtime and peanut butter though, he has some sort of ancient German Shepherd grudge against it as if a high velocity dryer killed his entire family before his eyes and he's sworn vengeance 🤣
I'm sure you already know this, but make sure to check that your peanut butter doesn't contain Xylitol, as it is toxic to dogs. Another name is "birch sugar" or "birch sap."
@Ramenkittie -- I was reading your comment and thinking 'that's a good idea, playtime before and treat mat during,' and then I got to the end and almost choked on my cereal laughing. xD
The cat, meanwhile, only complained briefly about the bath for the sake of appearances and generally just took everything in stride. The mood whiplash is real :D
SHEESH, the cocker spaniel/poodle mixes are SO adorable but also can be SO temperamental. Every last one has been unpredictable and hates grooming from what I've seen. She's such a cutie and seems like she has a sweet personality so I'm sure that makes it hard to stay mad at her
My 7 mo old Cockapoo doesn’t! He has literally fallen asleep in the grooming belly band. But I’ve worked with him since he was small and I brush and comb him daily.
My next door neighbors had a black cockapoo. He was a cute dog but he was not friendly. He had a rotten temper. I always wanted to pet him but that never happened.
That's unfortunate because both of the breeds require regular grooming. I used to have a cocker spaniel, & I had to take him to the groomer every 4 to 6 weeks.
I grew up with a cockapoo who was an absolute sweetheart, but absolutely hated taking paths in getting clean in any way. He learnt to calm down during the process in his later years, but he still always did his best to get dirty again as soon as possible, even rolling around in the dirtiest thing he could find in the yard.
This baby knows how cute she is and doesn’t think anyone should adjust her cuteness. How dare you make her clean and fluffier?!? Awesome job. I love watching you work with the dogs instead of against them
She's a baby who's gonna have to be exercised like crazy before going to the Groomer. 😂 We had to do that with one of our pups to Get That Energy OUT before she went in. She loved her groomers, but my gosh. The energy.
I think someone needed to go for a long walk or to the puppy park before their appointment. ❤️. Also, I’d bet a dollar that those little yelps and whimpers enabled her to get her way on a regular basis.
As a kid I had a Kerry Blue/Poodle mix that LOVED to be groomed. You would not believe how patiently she sat for her scissor cut (I didn't have any clippers) and how she would jump into the tub, ready to get all fresh and clean. But it didn't stop there; she wanted her nails painted and bows tied on her ears. Then she would strut around, making sure that everyone appreciated how fancy she was. My Mitzi had to be helped to the Rainbow Bridge at age 22, and I'm sure there has never been another dog like her anywhere, ever. I love what you do here!
I'm sure the absolute weapons-grade cuteness of cockapoo puppies is a big factor in how hard they are to train. I would just melt at every wiggle and whimper rather than set consistent boundaries.
Cockapoo! That's the word for them! I knew this particular mix had a nickname, but couldn't remember it for the life of me. Brain kept going "okay, most poodle mixes are doodles...does that make this a cockadoodle(-doo)?" In my defense, it's after midnight, and my brain is already a strange space in daytime, let alone late at night.
I'm dog sitting my mom's cockapoo right now, and she is the most spoiled little princess 😂😂 I have 2 German Shephard dogs who don't understand why she doesn't want to play in the mud with them.
We have a Bernedoodle. He just turned 2! We've worked really hard to make him a good "doggy grooming citizen". He gets amped when he sees his groomer, but she says he's "all business" once they get back to the grooming room.
@@LexiconReaderliterally no reason to correct this person, who is clearly taking care of their Doodle. I understand frustration with Doodle owners who neglect their dogs but this person is going a good job
We call these dogs in the UK Cockerpoo’s 😊❤ I have one, a red one and absolutely love her, they do have a bad name in grooming but my little Sophie is, what I’ve been told, a groomers delight, she is so obedient and loving, she loves everybody ❤️
I had a cocker mix for 15 years. Never in his entire life he learned to stay calmed while being groomed. Groomers always complained to me all the time. Watching this little girl was like a flashback, had the same face and everything. I miss him so much.
Our cavapoo was groomed every month since 8 weeks old by the same groomer. He is now a perfect angel at age 1. The earlier you start grooming the better in my opinion. Great job!
my childhood pet was a cockapoo as well and every time i find another cockapoo i just get so overwhelmed with joy because she was just the best dog ever. i have her paws tattooed on me and i miss her every day, seeing this made me wanna cry. ❤ she lived to be nearly 17! great family companions.
Wonder if there's a way to create a wash setup that looks like a deep, dirty street puddle? That way, the dogs happily jump into it and roll around, unknowingly bathing themselves at the same time. And for drying, maybe you could create a simulated car, car window, and scenery, where the dog will happily lean out to catch the wind (which is really a large blow dryer). Maybe you could add a myriad of scents to the "wind" to captivate the pooch?
She's so bouncy! I marvel at your skill when you are able to groom dogs that move quickly like this. I also think you made a great decision to not give her a full groom today. Hopefully this session will have pushed Siya just enough out of her comfort zone for her to realize: Oh, now that I think about it, that lady was actually really nice to me. 🙂 And oh my gosh, wait a second, I didn't actually die 1,000 dealths." 🤣 Your are very very cute Siya! ❤
What a wiggly fluff ball! Love how you do what's in the dog's best interests - hopefully she won't be so nervous next time. You can't get cross with that face can you! So cute.
Reminds me of the ''good ole days'' of self-grooming our dogs when funds were tight. I did not have the grooming tools or the expertise to wash my dog thoroughly, but they smelled good for a few days. As my our schedules got busy, we relented and took them to groomers and often we got good reports about their behavior, until one wanted to bite out of no where. By the way two of ours were cocker/poodle mix and one was a Cocker Spaniel. They have been gone from our home for 25 years...I still miss them and have one full size portrait and several snapshots of them.
Her owners are very smart to already have had her groomed before at such a young age. She wiggles more than a ferret! So precious. I think she'll be a great client when she's older and more used to the process. She seems like an angel. A wiggly squirmy squeaky angel.
I was wondering if most cockapoos are like that, and why that mix would tend to be so difficult, any ideas? I love English cocker spaniels, but I’ve heard they are more high strung than regular cocker spaniels so I stayed away 😂

Great job! It definitely takes a lot of patience to groom a dog with this energy! I have my share that come to me, but it is quite satisfying completing the groom and having a happy puppy to show the owner! 🐾🐶
I started taking my dog to the groomer at three months just to say hi and get a treat. We’d pop in every 3-4 weeks just to say hi and she had her first bath at 6 months and her first full groom at a year. She never showed any fear which is in part to her personality and in part to the conditioning that was done. She goes in for a full groom every other month. She’s a favorite at the facility. Just like Cheers, everyone knows her name.
I adopted a male cockapoo who was bought as a pup and returned a year later. He was and is difficult, including being completely out for a vet appointment is the only way to get a good exam. He took more time to settle and even like me which really hurt. We did reach a good place but he ONLY has me. He has his quirks but he is here for me and for his life.😂
Wow, you are SO confident with those scissors, while she wiggles and squiggles. I'd be paralyzed for fear of injuring her, let alone cutting a bit of extra fur or eyelashes or eyebrows. Good for you knowing when to stop before she was totally freaked out.
I started watching grooming videos before we got our Cockapoo (It's okay to use this term. These dogs aren't disappearing. My grandparents had one in the '70's.) I've learned a ton! The most important thing I learned is that many groomers seem to be biased against poodle mixes (some to the point of hate) and speak pretty negatively of them in both the videos and the comment section. It motivated me to learn to groom my dog at home lest he be treated poorly by a prejudiced groomer. He's an awesome dog who has let me groom him with zero issues for 10 years. These videos saved me a lot of money and my dog a possible bad grooming experience. BTW, he is the absolute smartest, easiest to train dog we've ever owned.
I had a GORGEOUS red cocker spaniel. At 2-1/2 months he got his first full groom. Danny was reported to be a very good client! I had a 13-year old rescued mini-poodle. Peanut learned to tolerate being groomed. It seems Cia, being a mix of both breeds, got some wires crossed somewhere! Goodness me, what a handful! I thing you performed a near miracle, Vanessa, to get as far as you did with her! Woof! 🐶💓
I have only adopted two senior Cockapoos, both at 9 years old, so they're quite calm. I've only gotten compliments from their groomers about how good they are with everything. I wonder if they were this bouncy and crazy as pups. 😂
Despite not being the best client, you gotta love her, and I can only imagine what a bundle she is to handle on an everyday basis....but I still love her😍😍...p.s. Mama & Nona made gnocchi two ways today & I told your brother I will be watching that one at least a million times in replay.....sooooo delicious looking, and not too hard to try to recreate myself !
Our two cockapoos, Tighthead and Loosehead, lived to sixteen years (had to put them down - failing kidneys, could barely move off their pillows). They were about 35 lbs. each, very calm and obedient, LOVED being petted, and LOVED everyone.
This is probably the best example of a puppy's visit to the groomer. Today I, too, had a 5-month-old puppy, only maltipoo, and with me came a razor, because the owners could not cope with combing. Bathing looked the same, while at the muzzle there were attempts to bite, which, I must admit, ended in scolding( of course, without shouting and spanking), because when he grows up it can end badly. Claws, on the other hand ... oh god, the harm done is incredible. In general, it looked very similar to the video, only with the addition of a razor AND teeth.
Hey Girl with the dogs, if the owners run (exercise) her at a high intensity, she'll be calmer for grooming and that will become her new association to getting groomed.
LOLZ! This really takes me back! After I adopted my 2 year old Staffy mix (25lbs) she thought I was trying to kill her with the blow dryer! The happy hoodie has helped along with A LOT of desensitization. ❤
1. The floor is obviously lava.
2. Stop spraying her with acid.
3. Flamethrowers to dry animals is abuse. 😂

I mean she has a point about the floor being lava tho

Bathing looked the same, while at the muzzle there were attempts to bite, which, I must admit, ended in scolding( of course, without shouting and spanking), because when he grows up it can end badly. Claws, on the other hand ... oh god, the harm done is incredible.
In general, it looked very similar to the video, only with the addition of a razor AND teeth.
Aw, the little voice. She looks like a plushy toy!
Hey Girl with the dogs, if the owners run (exercise) her at a high intensity, she'll be calmer for grooming and that will become her new association to getting groomed.
Your videos always bring me smiles. Thanks for what you do!❤🙏
Oh a wriggly cutie!
As much as I love seeing the puppies hair, your own hair Vanessa is so fabulous too ❤
"Cuteness overload❤ and a bundle of energy"
We just got a maltipoo recently from rescue. He's like Siya too. I gave him a very light groom and a groomer did too, just to get him used to it.
LOLZ! This really takes me back! After I adopted my 2 year old Staffy mix (25lbs) she thought I was trying to kill her with the blow dryer! The happy hoodie has helped along with A LOT of desensitization. ❤
