    Well pleased for you; your resilience and efforts are being rewarded! Wouldn't hurt to treat your new battery to a full charge. I would recommend getting yourself a digital multi-meter. You wouldn't need to spend much and you can then easily test continuity , battery voltage, switches and a plethora of other things.

    Just for future reference the fuse box has 3 spare fuses in it for emergency. The fuel tap has a prime position to prime the empty carbs. Well done getting it running. I've had 5 bandits in my 50 plus bikes over 40 years. They are a great way to learn simple bike repairs and maintenance. Keep going buddy. When you get stuck ,step away and research. Great job, we all started with not a lot of knowledge and by having a go with a manual and help of friends we get there, until such a time you can strip an engine, then put it back together without any thing left over!
    At the end of the day, doesn’t matter what big you have as long as you have fun on it. I used to have a Tiger 955i, not the best looking bike but grew to love it.

    Great Video mate and you seem a very genuine funny guy, I own the bigger brother of this the GSX 1400 and all in this bike family are very good, Hence why so many people have had them. My mate had the same as yours in the same colour, and has had 3 1250 bandits since and he owns 2 other bikes one being a 15k 2022 GSXR 1000 but still comes out on the bandit. I have 2024 ZH2 but am taking the GSX1400 out Tonight as it's so comfortable lol You will love it. If you want a bit more torque and power go for the 1200,1250s or for a bit more presence the GSX1400 they're all fairly cheap apart for 1400, They're going up in value and I paid £5500 for mine but did only have 7500mls. The black button on the carbs is the Rickover button, turn it while it's running until the needle settles to 1 thousand revs or just over. If the rev needle wavers to & throw the carbs need balancing.

  • @katywalker8322
    @katywalker8322 6 дней назад

    My 1200 when standard was very sensitive to the choke. Wouldn't start without it most of the time (fairly normal), but if I rode off with the choke on the engine would die in about 200~300 yards.
    For the starter button, power comes from the fuse to the side stand relay and then to the starter button. From there power goes via the clutch switch (so the starter only works with the clutch lever pulled - although pretty common people bypass this) and then to the starter relay. Note it is not uncommon for a wire to break in the loom just behind the head stock where it gets regularly flexed.
    As to paintwork, that tank looks overall pretty good paint wise (as long as not too many scratches from being upside down when cleaning out). If so probably worth buying a cheap scratched tank to respray and sell the one with good paint (cheapest mk1 tank on Ebay is £60, going up to over £100, and none are anywhere as good paint wise as yours looks).

    No blockage mate you need a vacume to open the fuel tap . So you use prime to fill your carbs first from empty then turn to on . That engine sound must have been music to your ears lol. Great stuff and your learning all the time mate well done . Now just bring the RPM down to around the 1000 RPM . I think that the engine is running a bit to rich . But its running mate . BTW i have a 1200 Bandit 1997 with only 20k on it . I love it and have restored it . If you send me your email address i will send you pics .

      Yes I made that user error, not using the PRI tap position when I tried to start the bike the day after the purchase/ride home. The penny dropped after a minute or 2 and then it started no problem. Dont forget to turn it off again you only need it on for 10-15 seconds, other wise when you leave it to stand overnight it will gradually dump fuel on the floor, as I also found out, it looked like I lost something less than a litre so no big deal if you catch it the next morning.

    I ride a 2001 Triumph Bonneville now, but my first "big" bike was a MK1 Bandit 600. Loved it and would probably get another one if I could justify having 2 bikes! The only problems I ever had were the clutch actuator arm failing on me and having to replace the pulse generator cover every time I dropped it when riding in the winter (3 times 🤪). It's a lot of bike for the money and great fun. Enjoy!

    • @newmotorcycleguy

    • @maximumscrunch
      @maximumscrunch 4 дня назад

      @newmotorcycleguy pulse generator cover is the smaller case on the RHS directly below the barrels. I think the starter clutch assembly is behind the front engine case on the nearside (I could be wrong)? I would definitely invest in some crash bobbins/mushrooms. Most of the "drops" I've had were stupid slow speed ones where the damage could have been minimised with some crash bars or bungs (which I never had). They were always last on my shopping list 😒

    • @maximumscrunch
      @maximumscrunch 3 дня назад

      @newmotorcycleguy pulse generator cover is RHS. I believe the LHS cover is the starter clutch assembly. I strongly advise that you buy crash bobbins/mushrooms. Save money in the long run. Take care!

      Congratulations on getting it started. Once you had discovered the blown fuse, your issue was the knackered battery plus the kill switch ( we have all done that 😱). With the empty carbs, it can take a while for fuel to come through. As others have commented, the prime setting on the petrol cap helps. Again, as other comments, when up to operating temperature, turn that knurled knob to bring the revs at tick over down to the spec setting as per manual.
      That green 30 amp fuse will be the main fuse. If ever your total electrics fail & your battery is good, this is the first thing to check.

    1st off, I did tell you on previous video you need to prime the carbs via fuel tap prime function, would of saved you hunting around.
    Also Do NOT fit an inline filter it will restrict your fuel flow to carbs, i learned this hard way, until i tested the flow.
    Nice sounding bike! You done really well! Be proud of yourself
    Ps never rev high from cold, allow her to warm up a little bit otherwise you will risk damaging the engine
    Also engine oil, 10w30 semi synthetic, do not use anything else, otherwise you will have issues with the clutch :)

    buy yourself a better battery charger modern chargers suck because they need feedback from the battery before they will charge it so if the battery is totally dead a modern charger will not charge it correctly... even though it says fully charged it wont be.

    Ordered the battery and proceeds to dismantle the switch gear? Better to try the new battery first, but hay! You've got to learn something somewhere right? Oh yeah like you were told in other videos, you need to prime your carbs by switching the petcock to prime for 20 seconds then back to ON, then try and start. Oh my! So many revs, so much choke!
    Either way, It's good you got her running. Congratulations! 🎉 Me? I probably come across as a dick!? Sorry about that.

  • @dmail00
    @dmail00 5 дней назад

    Congrats on getting it started.
    To fill the carbs, use the prime setting on the petcock, yes I call it that :P., yet only do this for about 3-5 seconds.
    For the idle revs there is a thumb screw on the carbs which you can adust to get a good idle speed. The idle should be 1200rpm + or - 100 rpm when warm. If you are not able to get a steady idle then the air full mixture maybe incorrect, which may mean the carbs need to be synced.
    The bandit 600 will actually run fine on e10, that is all I use for mine. The only time it may become a problem is if it sits with fuel in for a long time.
