Lucia Popp (slowakisch: Lucia Poppová; * 12. November 1939 in Ungeraiden, Slowakische Republik; † 16. November 1993 in München).. She had so many plans. Does anybody know when Lucia Popp`s braintumor-condition became known to her?
As I remember it have been diagnozed late 1991/beginn1992 (i havent her biography with me) , after my change to Berlin, before I had some contact to her and kisten tonher several times. And in 1992 she withdrawed some performances, her Aussehen changed a bit (Perucke how we now after) or face a bit swollen, but it was speculated with her Hüftprobleme, because she was lifted on stage on a chair one time, and she said because of Stimmbandfisteln. Nobody knew it till few days before her death on 16.11.93, when she had to withdra her Sieglinde and Marschallin. She told of the braincancer even to her father first August 1993, and only few best friends and her husband new it, because she didn t want read it in newspaper and continue to follow her musical concept without pity of others. And with the cortison the voice was still more splendid. My mother saw one of her last concerts in Frankfurt with Dvorak Requiem mid if September in Frankfurt and told that she had to been again lifted on stage and thst she was the only among the singers who accepted to repeat great Part of the concert again for the Television Recording, with a great patience.
This is really interesting (and she has such a lovely voice even when she is simply speaking). Do you know where the footage of Lucia Popp in Florence is taken from?
In 1986 la TV tedesca ZDF faceva una Docu portrait di 45 min su lei con piccole interviste. Hanno girato anche come lei passeggiò nelle strade di Firenze,visitando le gioiellerie di Ponte vecchio. .
