From a tropical storm/ 70 mph winds to a Cat 5 / 160 mph winds in 12 hours and hitting Acapulco in the worst possible angle with the upper right quadrant going over both bays. Devastating.

Yes, these storms are going to get worse. "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken" (Luke 21:25-26, KJV). Even so, come, Lord Jesus! Establish the Kingdom in Jerusalem and save the world from the tyranny of Democracy (Daniel 7:7, KJV)!

There has only been one other hurricane that strengthened quicker than Hurricane Otis did here from a strong tropical storm to a category 5 hurricane. That was Hurricane Patricia back in 2015. Patricia strengthened from a strong tropical storm to a category 5 hurricane in only 12hrs of time. Otis strengthened explosively from a strong tropical storm to a category 5 hurricane in about 15hrs of time. However, Patricia strengthened explosively while far out to sea, and not while making imminent landfall like Otis did here.
I seriously doubt that the poor people around Acapulco had the time to prepare for a hurricane of this magnitude during what had to be rapidly deteriorating weather conditions as the storm approached them. There’s almost no way those people could have been properly prepared for a storm of this magnitude! My thoughts and prayers are with the people of that region right now.

@@rhensontollhouse unfortunately there's too many people who refuse to believe it exists and powerful corporate interests spending billions to keep it that way. All I do when up against denialists is point them to Google the Exxon climate reports done in the 70s and 80s BY THEIR OWN PAID SCIENTISTS. You can read their whole report online, it says it's real we caused it and guidance for measures to protect against it such as raising heights of offshore rigs at periodic intervals etc, a long with suggestions on how to dissuade people from thinking it's true. They've known about it for decades, all the evidence is there to anyone willing to simply look at it.
