  • We were on the River Walk at Cunnamulla, near the mighty Warrego River when we saw a sign that mentioned the poem Where The Pelican Builds, by Mary Hannay Foott. The poem was published in March 1881 in the Australasian Sketcher magazine.
    Mary was living on the Paroo River when she wrote the poem, and at that time no one had ever found a pelican’s nest. Today we know that pelicans congregate in huge breeding colonies in the inland Channel Country on the rare occasion that this region floods. Her poem struck a chord with many across the outback....

    Cunnamulla. Had to look it up to see where you are. Looks like the definition of the middle of nowhere! Visiting? Moved there? Whatever the reason, enjoy!

      We did some gigs out there... Cunnamulla Thargomindah and Eulo! For the flying doctor service...a mental health outreach program called Your Story Roadshow...
