    Something about the sound of a Chainsaw early in the morning🤔.... so much so I've 7 new saws in my collection,... going to buy a new Husky 135 real soon just because I need another SAW !
    You have so much energy .... Always a great job Bjarne..... I might need a new Helicopter also, love the sound of the blades slapping the early morning air.😁

    Thanks for taking the time and effort to film building that pad, I've watched you do it before but it doesn't get old seeing it again! At this stage in my life my back would be absolutely screaming at me after lifting those those beams around for several hours, I'd say you more than earned your wages on this day!! Thanks for the video, and Merry Christmas!!

    Nice pad. Can you make your stringers a couple feet longer and have them stick out over the stump to get a few more feet away when you run into that situation?

      @KI4HOK 11 месяцев назад +2

      I was about to ask the same question.

    • @BjarneButler
      @BjarneButler  11 месяцев назад +3

      The helicopter is not allowed to land his “ bear paws” past the stumps. There is a designated board(usually the biggest thats ripped) that is placed where the bear paws are supposed to to land and that can’t be psst the stumps.

    • @petecolborn4289
      @petecolborn4289 11 месяцев назад

      I guess that makes it tough on a steep slope when you don't have many stumps to work with. I suppose if it were the other way, there wouldn't be consistent pads and it could cause accidents because guys could build them with too much space behind the stumps.

    WOW! That’s just a TON of work Bjarne, ESPECIALLY if it was not going to work out. BUT I’m certainly glad that it did. But PLEASE don’t let the pilot get into any undue issues because of it. Life would be terrible without a “ride” to work.

    Merry Christmas Bjarne - I was relieved as well when you had the chopper confirm you’d built the pad with right distance - saw has real power, I don’t think you even needed to change to a ripping chain for the planks. Beautiful Canadian office view brother thank you - cheers

      I have a ripping chain but it was at home and for a 32” bar. I’ve never used one for making a pad but it would help. I usually just take my rakers down a bit more

Looking to get into the forestry trade as a something. Might as well as I spend so much time in it. Any jobs for Brits out there? Have learnt a lot off your videos. Training course coming soon for me. Sorting out that heli-landing is amazing to watch your thought process. Do you have to walk in far to get to where you work? then set up the landing?

    As small of landing pad, it must be tough getting a pilot to risk landing with such small margins. Great photo of the helicopter landing.

    that heli pad is nuts!!! 2ft?

    • @timbanwell1756
      @timbanwell1756 11 месяцев назад

      2ft doesn’t feel like a lot especially with the backwash from the rock face

    • @BjarneButler
      @BjarneButler  11 месяцев назад

      Well it was measured by eyeball when the chopper landed. It’s not too unusual on a steep mountainside for that amount of clearance. But I did do a measurement from rear board to the rock face to make sure it was enough. Usually it’s a stump or the ground, not a dramatic looking rock face. 🤙

    I ask how many tree you cut down in 8 hrs work period😮 on a good day.
    Enjoyed your post.

    • @BjarneButler
      @BjarneButler  11 месяцев назад

      Varies dramatically. Couldn’t really give you a solid answer. Depends on the terrain, tree size, bucking specs, weather, number of saplings and understory trees, and your definition of a tree, does a 10’ tree 3” diameter count? Or just trees that need an undercut? 🤷‍♂️🤙

    Hey I’m curious, do you guys ever have a tarp stashed up there to make a shelter out of your pad if you have to spend the night on the mountain? I know you said you can walk out of this spot if you have to but I bet some of the blocks are pretty remote.

    Would it not be cost effective to have a helicopter bring precut deck boards to the pad site? Looks like a lot of time and hard work spent on ripping.

    • @BjarneButler
      @BjarneButler  11 месяцев назад

      The trees gotta be felled regardless and ripping can take up to an hour, so it’s normally not cost effective enough. Unless there are no way to make the material onsite
