I love Madison... I lived in LaGrange, KY, from 1995 to 2010, and my b/f and I used to take a drive to Madison on a regular basis, to spend the day at the winery north of Madison. We would stop and spend time in Madison's historical district all the time during those excursions. Don't worry about the length of your videos. I love cross-stitching while I watch/listen to FlossTube videos, so the long ones give me lots of stitching time!
Liz: One thing to relieve the heat: Put your hair up, off your neck. I know as my hair (real thick) was waist length & went thru a real heat spell & someone told me to get my hair up off the neck & what a difference. Now, I wear up almost all the time, but at 74 years old now, it is very thin....happens...everything gets old.... but know that thick beautiful hair you have is laying on your neck. To cool off FAST, cold water on the wrists & a COLD cloth on the back of the neck... Love you guys, you are such an asset to our community. Haven't missed an episode yet!

It’s so much fun watching Liz get “the quilting bug” HEY anyone who can stitch on 46 ct can do ANYTHING!! I love your Flosstube I always save it as a special treat for myself and I cross stitch and add patterns to my Etsy list lol …. Y’all are lovely!! And Madison …. Oh my goodness if that isn’t Mayberry USA I don’t know what town is!! My ex was from that part of the world and it is absolutely charming and FULL of history. I’d love to have a cafe/ stitch store in Madison where you can eat and stitch …. Maybe some day 😊😊😊😊
Loved the Asilomar yarn and your comments about the colors of the ocean. I love to sail/cruise and enjoy the many colors of the seas 🌊. Asilomar is a special place for me. It’s a California State Park and Conference Center as well as a dunes/beach preserve in Pacific Grove/Monterey Peninsula. It started as a Young Women’s Christian Association center. Several of the early buildings were designed by Julia Morgan so it has some beautiful Craftsman style buildings. My Aunt went to Girl Scout Camp there in the 1950s. I’ve gone to quilt retreats with my quilt guild and to Empty Spools Seminars which are also held at Asilomar and are a wonderful experience. There are boardwalks to get to the beach and the dunes in the area have been restored. A beautiful place to spend some time! I hadn’t thought of your floss tubes being feature film length but 🎖️🥇 Enjoy the fair and good luck!

Great video! I just love watching friends enjoy stitching and sharing their ideas. Shelly - I was wondering if you will be documenting the memory blanket you are knitting. It would be a great keepsake if you documented each square you are knitting. What yarn you used, where you got it and if there is a story to go along with each block. Just an idea!
Liz, I recommend you try putting your hair up in a braid or ponytail. I too suffer with the heat. I love my long hair, but I have to let my neck breath. Happy Birthday!

Good luck at the Fair Shellie - I am the same - live in the town where the Fair is huge - and we are voted one of the best fairs in the State - quite an accolade! I've never entered anything in the fair for judging - I'm not that good - but I used to work at our high school band donut tent - was fun - we sold TONS - a huge fund raiser for us! Good memories! Ouch - I got a cold chill when you mentioned how you sliced open your finger - that had to hurt - did you need a tetnus shot! yikes! Shellie, when you talked about entering your cross stitch at the fair, it brought back so many memories. 30 years ago, I entered the Embro Ontario fair with a few pieces.I entered a train sampler I made for my son and received 1st place.I also hand stitched an old-time mohair jointed bear.I got a first place for her. I was feeling rather down as we were supposed to drive in Houston to celebrate my son’s birthday today and I couldn’t drive due to a headache, but you brighten up my day. (We will take my son to celebrate next weekend.) Shellie, I got the same Hebrew alphabet pattern and am working on it for some one very special to me. Her name is Nechama so I will be leaving that on mine though I will be moving it to put her full name on it. Mine will be stitched in green as it is her favorite color. Liz, you’re paper piecing which is just one technique of piecing which is part of the quilting process. I had a friend who was an avid counted cross stitcher who told be she wanted to learn how to quilt and all she knew was how to paper piece which she claimed wasn’t “real quilting”. I convinced her she was already quilting but just using one technique that at that time I wasn’t using. I did learn to paper piece but since I’m spatially/directionally challenged I actually had a literal brain ache figuring out how to paper piece. Now I love it. Different things work for different people. A quilt is a quilt no matter the technique used. I chuckled as I watched you showing the fabric you bought. I think you have the quilt bug. Enjoy! I love that you enter pieces into the fair. When I was a college student I entered a crocheted centerpiece doily (thread) into the county fair and I just about fell right out of my shoes when I saw that grand champion ribbon pinned on it!

It's in a bag I made from Tula Pink fabric :). I'm using all left over skeins of cotton yarn from the space in time I made dish cloths and wash cloths. Totally random .... I love it, but don't get to work on it much. And I LOVE your state fair story... I have always wanted to go to a "real" fair... Los Angeles County has one, but there are WAY too many people there for me! LOL Maybe one day I'll gather the courage to enter a stitched piece....... Thanks for sharing all of your goodies!!!
Liz paper piecing just gives beautiful accuracy. It’s not cheating. Just like we trace templates, it is for accuracy. I could not paper piece without an add a quarter ruler!! Fantastic! Great video. So many pretty things.
I also am doing a stitch with friends but I am passing my stitch along to my friends to stitch a section on mine then sign a copy of the pattern over the part they stitched. I will frame it with the signature pattern on the back and have a sample of all my friends work. Happy Birthday Liz. May you have many many more.

Liz, you’re paper piecing which is just one technique of piecing which is part of the quilting process. I had a friend who was an avid counted cross stitcher who told be she wanted to learn how to quilt and all she knew was how to paper piece which she claimed wasn’t “real quilting”. I convinced her she was already quilting but just using one technique that at that time I wasn’t using. I did learn to paper piece but since I’m spatially/directionally challenged I actually had a literal brain ache figuring out how to paper piece. Now I love it. Different things work for different people. A quilt is a quilt no matter the technique used. I chuckled as I watched you showing the fabric you bought. I think you have the quilt bug. Enjoy! I love that you enter pieces into the fair. When I was a college student I entered a crocheted centerpiece doily (thread) into the county fair and I just about fell right out of my shoes when I saw that grand champion ribbon pinned on it!
Happy Birthday Liz!!!! You are well on your way to becoming an awesome quilter! Shellie - love your knitted blanket. I have my own version - only it's crochet and I call it my car stitch. It's in a bag I made from Tula Pink fabric :). I'm using all left over skeins of cotton yarn from the space in time I made dish cloths and wash cloths. Totally random .... I love it, but don't get to work on it much. And I LOVE your state fair story... I have always wanted to go to a "real" fair... Los Angeles County has one, but there are WAY too many people there for me! LOL Maybe one day I'll gather the courage to enter a stitched piece....... Thanks for sharing all of your goodies!!!

Liz paper piecing just gives beautiful accuracy. It’s not cheating. Just like we trace templates, it is for accuracy. I could not paper piece without an add a quarter ruler!! Fantastic! Great video. So many pretty things.

I also am doing a stitch with friends but I am passing my stitch along to my friends to stitch a section on mine then sign a copy of the pattern over the part they stitched. I will frame it with the signature pattern on the back and have a sample of all my friends work. Happy Birthday Liz. May you have many many more.
